Do Holes have to be Drilled in 2014 Toyota Camry if Trailer Hitch is Just for a Bike Rack
Question:
I purchased a Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4 Item # 36540 for my 2014 Toyota Camry XLE with dual exhaust. Is it possible to install the hitch without drilling the two 1inch holes in the frame and only using the 4 provided welded nuts? I only want to use it for a bike rack and would carry only one or two bikes. I didnt want to drill holes in the frame if it was not totally necessary. Maybe the rating would just be less than the full rating but be acceptable for a bike rack.

I cannot recommend installing Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36540 on your 2014 Toyota Camry in any other way other than what is specified in the instructions. If you do it will void the hitch warranty and actually makes the capacity unknown (since it isn't tested in that manner). You also have to consider stability of the hitch. Without all of the fasteners the hitch could move and flex more than it is supposed to and that could damage the hitch and vehicle.
The instructions state that a 1 inch diameter hole is needed on each side.
