Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I installed myself. Good product. Has worked fine for me in the last year. I recommend.

by:

Great product! Easy to install and fits perfectly to my vehicle. Works great with my bike rack.

by:

I installed this hitch on an 08 Hyundai Accent in 40 minutes with only moderate
mechanical skills. It fit perfectly using the included spacers and had no problem
threading the bolts in. I did the job aone but a helper would be great. The hitch is
nearly invisible and will be used to carry a bike rack. So far I am very happy with the set up.

by:

Second hitch purchased from etrailer, quality same as the first ,excellent. Installation proceeded without any big issues. A floor jack helped make a one man installation simple. Wireing revealed a faulty brake light switch.

by:

I looked at this hitch on several websites, including Draw-Tite and etrailer. I looked at the install videos, however, it does not fit without modifying the trunk pan and cutting off the tow loop on the bottom of it as well. The holes on the mounting plates match and the bolts are the correct size, but the corners of the trunk pan do not allow the bar to be lifted into place. I will either have to cut out the corners of the pan or deform them enough so the receiver bar can be lifted into place. After several hours of struggle, I have yet to figure how to properly install this piece on my daughters 2008 Hyundai Elantra, which, according to you and Draw-Tite, neglect to mention. The product looks fine but there is simply not enough bend to clear the trunk pan.

You'll be glad you have it! on the go!

2019 Hyundai Accent

The Draw-Tight hitch from etrailer was excellent quality. It was sized for several models of cars, with included both 12 mm and 10 mm frame bolts, plus spacers for slightly narrower frames like on my Hyundai Accent. I installed it unassisted in 70 minutes on the second try after the threads in the car's frame were clear. The only tool needed (when using 12 mm bolts) would be a 19 mm box or combination wrench. A flat-blade screwdriver to pry the rubber hanger off the muffler pins, and large channel lock pliers to squeeze it back on afterwards are both very helpful.

My car's frame width needed the spacers. Most of the time was spent trying to line up the bolts, spacers, and hitch with the holes in the car's frame. You can only get one hand in up over the muffler. I worked the bolt heads with thumb and fore-finger, the spacers with pinkie and ring finger, and manipulated the middle of the hitch with the other hand. If I had to do it again, I would epoxy the spacers to the hitch before starting.

Clearing the threads in the car frame was another story. Step one of the instructions was to remove the plastic plugs protecting the threads in the frame. There were no plugs in my 8-year old used car. On my first try at installation, using the 10 mm bolts to clear the crud out of the 12 mm holes, I was able to pre-thread the two bolts into the driver's side holes. But the crud was baked in on the passenger's side holes up over the muffler. I had to order a 12 x 1.5 mm tap, dribble it with PB Blaster, and thread it in with an 8 mm open-end wrench before the bolts would go in. This was not the fault of the hitch kit.

Working alone with all the threads clear, I installed the front bolt loosely on the driver's side to help hold the hitch. I positioned the hitch up behind the bumper cover, and then installed the right rear and then right front spacers and bolts loosely. I removed the left front bolt, and installed the left rear and left front spacers and bolts. When all the parts were in place, I tightened everything and then re-attached the muffler hanger. Again, this took 70 minutes, but I had seen how it needed to go together on the first attempt.

UPDATE: I have had no problems with the hitch on my 2010 Accent. I built a 3.3 x 4 trailer kit with a removable car top carrier for extra luggage space, or moving my snowblower on the deck without the carrier. I probably drive more miles with the trailer attached than without it.

Excellent product at a great price! The hitch fit my car perfectly and was relatively easy to install. I would recommend that this be a two man job; I really could have used an extra pair of hands to help me hold it while I bolted it in place. Otherwise perfect! I have towed a very heavy trailer with my Hyundai hatchback and it went off without a hitch (ha ha!)

Thanks for the follow up. Still love the hitch! I use it all the time.

by:

The first two units I ordered had grossly-misaligned welds, making them fully unusable. Idk who Draw Tite has doing their welding but they'd be much more successful as a surrealist painter or as one of those mathematicians who argues that a coffee mug is essentially a donut.

Fortunately Nathan R at etrailer was super helpful and responsive in finding me a unit that was put together decently, and once that was installed the product has performed as expected.

2009 Hyundai Accent

This hitch mount works perfect and holds up to its value. Ideally, this item was purchased for a 2009 Hyundai Accent and works wonders with my car. I use it along with a Thule bike carrier to hold my Fat bikes and Mtn Bikes and never had a problem. Great purchase!

I have The #24975 Trailer Hitch on our car so that I may at any moments notice use it for a Bicycle Rack or our Starlite "Pop Up" RV Trailer. Nay an issue with it.

It was an 1-2-3 moment to install it vs taking a Mechanical Engineering Course.

Order came in a week & was packed good. Online video & instructions made it easy to follow instillation. Hitch was installed in about 40 mins with no problems. Purchased the wiring harness (118433) also & install went well too. Love the way harness plugs in & you can route the wires out of sight! Simple/clean looking set up, would recommend to anybody this etrailer hitch for this car! Thanks etrailer

2009 Hyundai Accent

Product was easy to install on my 09 accent. It is indeed hidden pretty well.

as for hooking up the wiring with the optional wiring kit. I had to extend the wires and mount the box to the hitch under my car; with the wires coming up behind my bumper and tail light. Since i have the hatchback version i couldn't get to the wires from inside the car. everything is nice and tucked away and i am happy

2007 Hyundai Elantra

Fabulous hitch and receiver. Easy to put on, even for a novice. We tend to stick to small to medium sized vehicles and will continue to order new hitches and receivers from etrailer as we change out our vehicles over time. Service is fantastic and they are very very helpful. The video was a life saver. Thank you for your great service and great products.

by:

My order arrived it just a few day and the hitch packaging was undamaged. A 2nd set of hands would have made it much quicker but I was able to install by myself. So far, I'm very happy with the hitch. The wiring kit was not too difficult to install but wished I would have purchased the kit with the T-connectors.

2011 Hyundai Accent

The hitch it self was excellent and the service was real good. The wiring kit came with no directions. The stuff online for it was not that good. It all did work out well but it took time and the weather was not nice. It should have said universal wiring and I would not cared. Next time I'll be more careful. This is a good company to deal with. This is the first complaint I've ever had.

by:

I had no idea installation a hitch could be so easy. The instructions provide were very clear and easy to follow. It took at about 15mins to install.
While it can be done by yourself it does help to have an extra set of hands to hold the hitch in place while you install the bolts.

Once installed it is hard to tell the hitch is there.

by:

Instructions were very clear, except perhaps for the center support on the rear bumper trim - instructions said to trim the tab, but I found that the braket support had to be pushed to the side and up so the hitch could slide up. Otherwise things went as planned and installation was a snap. Also, the hitch fit perfectly. I had to put a bottle jack in the area of the hitch to align the hitch horizontally while I tightened the bolts.

Yes, I would order it again.

by:

Fit up perfectly....after moving/twisting the three plastic fascia support brackets so as to be able to snake the hitch crossmember in front of the car's tow loop (they rotate right back into place after the hitch is bolted down to the frame). Install was done alone, while lying down.... not using a lift. Still only took an hour.

by:
2007 Hyundai Elantra

Fit like a charm looks great videos on installatio were a big help fast shipping only one thing i would add to the installation video is that you have to push the tab connector in the center so the hitch willl go up easier thats the one that you have to trim off from the bumper cover it is in the way when you lift up the hitch other than that would have no problem buying from you again and have told many people about your site thank you

2008 Hyundai Elantra

Super easy to install. Product came in 3 days from the time I ordered. I saved over $130 doing this project myself + was able to have it done before I could have even gotten an appointment at the shop. It took me about 40 minutes to install the hitch. Had hard time cleaning dirt out of the bolt holes otherwise I would have had it done in less than a half hour. The electrical was also easy. Took about 10 minutes.

by:
Hyundai Elantra

This hitch installed easily on my '09 Elantra. I ordered it along with a 4" rise hitch and the wiring harness (which was also a breeze to install). The most difficult step was getting the hitch to line up for the bolts, but seeing as I installed it by myself with nobody to help hold one side in place, that's to be expected.

Hitch & harness total install time was about 1 hour. Everything is working great.

Bought this for a 2010 Hyundai Elantra to haul a bike rack that fit up to 4 bikes.
I installed this by myself and it worked as expected; no complaints!

by:

Received the trailer hitch in excellent condition. Packing the hitch in the cardboard box was excellent. Installation of the hitch took about 1 hr. with the enclosed directions. Wiring is to follow soon.
