Best Wheel and Frame Mount Hitch Bike Rack for 2008 Hyundai Accent Hatchback
Question:
Hello. I just got into biking and switched cars. I have a 2008 Hyundai Accent Hatchback with spoiler and Im considering installing a hitch and a hitch mounted bike rack. I only need a 2-bike rack as I feel my tiny car would look ridiculous plus not handle very well more than 2 bikes plus I cant really fit that many passengers either... I have a women mountain bake with a bulky and oddly shaped frame so I have been looking at wheel and frame mount racks vs the more traditional ones. Will I have enough clearance aver all bumper and road for this type of hitch. What do you recommend for this vehicle considering my bike type. Please note Im really not interested in the bar/extender marketed for female bike frames as I have a friend who has attempted to use it and ends up with his girlfriends bike too low to the ground for comfort. I also dont want a roof mounted rack as I find it impractical for my heavy mountain bike and unsightly. Thanks so much!

Lets begin with the hitch. I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class I receiver, part # 24795.
We have several platform-type bike racks available that are compatible with a Class I hitch (see link).
The Swagman XTC-2, part # S64670 is one of our most popular and highest-rated bike racks. The angled shank raises the rack 3 inches above the receiver, providing exceptional ground clearance. The bikes are held by the wheel hoops, as well as ratcheting hooks that will securely hold the bikes in place. The rack does not tilt away from the vehicle, but once the bikes are removed, the center post can be lowered by swinging it to the left or right, allowing access to the cargo area of the vehicle.
