Trailer Hitch and Related Parts for Towing Small Boat Trailer with 2011 Hyundai Accent

I am thinking of installing a trailer hitch on my 2011 Hyundai Accent 3 door hatchback with automatic transmission to pull a small trailer and boat total weight about 800 pounds or less. If this is possible, do you have any customer feedback about how this has worked on an Accent? Thank you

The trailer hitches that fit your 2011 Hyundai Accent 3-door hatchback are the 1-1/4-inch Class I type like # 24795 from Draw-Tite. All hitches for your car include the required hardware, install without drilling and share a 2000-lb maximum towing capacity.

According to my research the Accent is not formally rated to tow any trailer weight (see page 2-20 in your manual). However, I did also find owner comments indicating that small trailers have been successfully towed with the car. Its a good idea to check your manual to confirm.

Towing a small boat trailer will also require a wiring harness to operate the trailer's lights. You can use Tow Ready harness # 119178KIT. An installation video for this item is linked for you.
