BEAST MODE ON! This thing is HUGE! I used to have a receiver integrated into a Ranch Hand bumper but found that massive bumper was only attached via the stock bumper brackets and we almost lost a 11k lbs trailer load recently. We upgraded to this massive CLASS V hitch and we are impressed. Super easy to install with a 2nd person.

My only complaint is it sits a little far back when used in combination with a Ranch Hand bumper such that the hitch was about 4" short of making it to the hole for the pin or for the pintle latch to open. So when you have a plasma cutter you simple just make it fit ;)

Love it. No problems since I installed it and Im a mad man on the road even with a heavy load. I never feel like the receiver is going to fail me. I havent gotten to use the 2.5 pintle hitch function yet but but I have no doubts it will work as advertised.

by:

Fit great I cut the crossbar off old hitch. I needed the old brackets to mount the bumper back. Lost a bolt trailer sent the whole mounting hardware thanks

by:

The hitch is great. I was seeing my stock class IV hitch bend slightly when pulling a 14,000 lb dump trailer with my Ram 3500 SRW so I decided to upgrade.

The reason for 1 less star is the documentation; you need more information to make the best choice. I originally ordered a different PN and it hung way too low bc is mounted under the existing hitch. To remove the stock hitch, you also remove the integrated mounting brackets for the bumper. I ordered a PN for a truck without a hitch and cut off the receiver tube with a torch. Also, I upgraded the 3 1/2" exhaust to 4" and now at idle the exhaust rattles on the much larger frame of the class V but a slight modification in planned to take care of that. Installation was fairly straighforward once I removed the original receiver tube.

Very happy with the increased capability and safety with large loads.

Looking through the internet for an addional class 5 hitch came across trailers. I asked a few questions about fitment so at order the correct hitch. I receive promt answers and ordered the hitch. It was delivered a day early in perfect condition. Give you 5 stars.

2003 Dodge Ram Pickup

Very nice hitch receiver kit for my 2003 Ram 2500 HD. Very well manufactured and complete hardware kit. Took me almost two hours from start to finish by myself. Hardest part is raising the hitch into place by yourself and the bumper bracket welded nuts that interfere with the rear part of the mounting brackets (shown with white arrows). The installation instructions do mention this issue. To solve, I removed the three bolts each per bracket on each side. Raised receiver up at an angle and attached frontmost hardware loosely. Then jacked the receiver up with floor jack until just touching nuts. I then pried prybars between the bumper bracket and receiver mounting flange until the receiver would clear the nuts and jacked up to frame contact. Removed prybars and installed remaining hardware and shims as required. Fishing wires supplied in hardware kit made the install of the four carriage bolts a breeze. Just awaiting my new hitch now!

by:

This thing is extremely well built and heavy. Direction are ok, but I found it easier to put the plates and bolts in place before getting the hitch in the way. Other than that, install was pretty easy.

by:

Don’t hesitate to buy this if you’re looking for a heavy bumper pull it’s huge beefy I don’t have to worry about it

by:

One of the boxes was busted open and all of the pieces were falling out. Probably need to redo packaging on the torque lift camper tie downs. Very poor packaging

Exactly as advertised, easy installation. I purchased this hitch to avoid spending well over a thousand dollars on a torklift system. The torklift system is awesome if your towing a community behind your truck, i am only towing my motorcycle. There doesn't seem to be much in between the extremes for hitches that accommodate hitch extensions. As fore warned by the etrailer staff this hitch did not allow the use of my standard Torklift camper tie-downs. So i had to modify the tie-downs and have some welding done to compensate for the modifications. I am very happy with the installation and believe the hitch and extension will allow me to tow my cycle trailer with zero issues. Thanks etrailer!

Great product. Meets my expectations and needs

by:

Wow, now this is a heavy duty Hitch Receiver, I was very doubtful that I would be able to install this hitch by myself but with the right equipment on hand, a floor Jack and some large Jack stands I was able to lift it into place, secure all the bolts and tighten everything up. This all took me a little over an hour to complete but I did it. I’ve already hooked my 26’ Cargo Mate 12K GVW trailer to it. One thing I was a bit disappointed with was that the 10” drop I purchased earlier from etrailer is now too low and close to the ground, if I invert it, the ball will be too high. My air bags may give me the necessary clearance from the bottom of the drop to the ground so I may be ok for my 2,200 mile drive south. Great product thus far, additional review post drive. One other item that puzzled me was the 2 extra shims which I had to assume went between the forward receiver and the frame due to the space that was left from a weld point on the frame

This fits a variety of different Rams so #8 on the diagram in the instructions says to use as needed.

by:

Excellent hitch! I've had a 35' bumper pull camper that weighs nearly 10,000 lbs loaded down and I pulled my brother's 8,000 lb camper with it along with my 4,000 lb SXS and it keeps its shape. As long as you add the right amount of shims and tighten all bolts, you shouldn't have any complaints. I did have to trim my aftermarket bumper in order for me to get a ball on, but the bumper looks better now in my opinion.

by:

Super easy to install, you will need help lifting up to the bolts. Help is needed for 5 minutes or less. Took me 35 minutes working on the ground.

by:

The good thing about your product everything was there that I needed when I installed it

by:
Dodge Ram Pickup

The hitch took a few days to ship once it got to the final shipping location the package was damaged and shipped back to etrailer (ups shipment fault not etrailer) without me ever seeing the box. I called etrailer and they shipped a new one out within minutes. Talk about awesome. It arrived in a few days unharmed. As far as installation on my Dodge Ram 3500 dually, it was pretty straight forward. There was one issue. The most forward bolt had to have a rectangle steel piece, that must be fished through the frame rail. This step was a nightmare and I ruined one of my telescoping magnets. Overall great product, heavy and the finish looks great.

by:

Installation is easily done in 30 minutes in the driveway. Some maneuvering is needed to get the Curt receiver past the factory receiver mounting brackets. There is a clearance issue between the Curt receiver and a factory crossmember on both sides which can be remedied by adding a 3/4" grade 8 washer between the receiver and the frame on each side. It is easiest to torque down the four vertical bolts before installing the two horizontal ones as they interfere with getting a socket on the two rear vertical bolts. Curt did a good job eliminating all failure points (bolts) on the receiver hitch itself and the welds are solid. Overall the Curt receiver is overkill in a good way and it would be hard for even a good fabricator to design one that is stronger. Included are pictures of how it looks on a relatively tall factory height 2009 Dodge 3500 DRW with a 6" Fastway drop and 1220 pounds of tongue weight.

by:

The only issue with the receiver hitch is that it dropped approximately 3" lower than the original hitch. Obviously a ground clearance and trailer hitch adjustment situation.

by:

Has held up great. Didn't care for two hitches, removed factory one. I use the Curt for everything.

by:

Easy installation. Quality receiver hi tch.

by:
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Great hitch, fit right up underneath factory one on my 04 3500 dodge. Little bit hard to get bolts in, recommend having small retractable magnet to help pick them up or retrieve if you drop inside frame.

2012 Ram 3500

Five star for price and shipping. Three star to curt. The hitch is square with the truck. Where the ball hitch slides in is not square with the rest of the hitch. The ball hitch sits at a 6:30 position. Works fine, looks bad.

Tough hitch, I wish the receiver part was 1/2 longer so I could use weight safe hitch in up position. It does not stick out as far as stock so it hits bumper in up position.

  • Class V Trailer Hitch For 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 With Factory Hitch
Yes, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT45509 will fit your 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 with the factory hitch. This is a nice option, but I do recommend instead considering the Curt hitch: - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15809 While the Curt hitch will go under your Ram's OEM hitch instead of replacing it, this hitch is a much easier install that does not require lifting the bed off the frame like the Draw-Tite does, and also has a more robust towing capacity at 20,000 lbs.
