Very sturdy and well made. If you do this yourself be sure to have a helper when lifting the hitch into place. Also watch the bolts as you can easily knock one back up into the channel. (Yes, this happened to me and it is not easy to get it out to reset it). The down side would be putting the rubber isolators by the muffler back. The space is very narrow so it is difficult to get a larger hand in there to push it back on the hanger. The associated wiring harness was simple plug in that was super easy compared to the hitch.

Does everything it needs to. Towed a 5x8 trailer into the mountains with close to 1,000lbs in it. Also used this hitch to move dirt around the yard with a basket when my wheelbarrow came up lame. Also used this hitch to transport my dirtbike on a dirtbike rack. Very happy with this purchase.

I would give the product an excellent as it is an extremely solid hitch receiver, maybe even strengthening the Subaru frame. However the Curt instructors were a bit brief and not really reasonable on time frame. With the help of a mechanic friend I was able to install the receiver in a little over two hours. Definitely not a project to tackle without proper support. Just for reference I also purchased and mount a Curt receiver on a 4Runner by myself and thought it was way easier than instructed.

  • Class II or Class III for 2010 Subaru Legacy Ground Clearance
Honestly, going with a 1-1/4 inch hitch is only going to gain you 3/4 of an inch of increased ground clearance which is pretty minimal, I'd recommend going with the more versatile Class III hitch. If you're concerned about the bottom of the hitch receiver hitting the pavement, you could use a skid wheel like # UF48-979020 which mounts to a 2 inch receiver, and will work whether or not you have an accessory mounted in the hitch. I'd recommend going with the Curt Class III hitch, part #...

  • Recommended Hitch and Bike Rack for a 2014 Subaru Legacy and Townie Electra Bike
The trailer hitch that I recommend you use for carrying a bike rack with your 2014 Subaru Legacy is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7205 because the crosstube is hidden which means you only see the hitch receiver and it gives you a really clean look. If you'd rather go with a trailer hitch that is a little more cost-effective then I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75673 because it is a little easier to install than the Curt # C13158. Please note that the EcoHitch is the only...

  • Recommended Towing Package for 2010 Subaru Legacy
For a Class III trailer hitch by Curt that is a custom fit for your Subaru Legacy sedan, you will want the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13158. To complete your towing setup, you will also need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 56091. I have included installation instructions and a installation video of this harness on a 2011 Subaru Legacy for you to check out. Then you will need the Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7, to complete...

  • Can 2012 Subaru Legacy Rubber Exhaust Isolator Be Touching Trailer Hitch
As long as it is just the rubber isolators on your 2012 Subaru Legacy exhaust that are touching the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13158 I wouldn't worry about it. You can try moving the hangers on the muffler some but basically as long as you don't have metal-on-metal contact and there isn't any noise happening you're good to go.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2005 Acura MDX
Curt trailer hitch # C13158 is designed to fit 2010 to 2014 Subaru Legacy, all models. There are different hitches designed to fit your 2005 Acura MDX. The Curt Class III hitch that will fit your 2005 Acura MDX is # 13328. I have linked a video that shows the hitch being installed on a 2005 Honda Pilot which is built on the same platform as the MDX. If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2014 Subaru Legacy
I do have an option for you, however the Curt Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12290 referenced in your question is not confirmed to fit your 2014 Subaru Legacy. This particular hitch is designed for certain model year Subaru Outback Wagons, as you noted, and it will also fit 2015-2018 models of the Subaru Legacy. It looks like there was a generation change after 2014 on the Legacy and the differences in the rear frame on the new generation allow this hitch to fit, but it will not work...
