2006 Honda Element

I bought a hitch receiver and the electrical harness from etrailer.com. The products were delivered promptly without any additional delivery charges. My mechanic told me both products were fairly easy to install.

Honda Element

This purchase and install went as perfectly as possible. Great website, easy ordering, and fast shipping. The directions were clear and it took me about 30 minutes max to install it. I was so pleased to find a "fish wire" in the install kit!
I notched the frame on my Honda Element with a small round hand rasp and then followed the directions.

Thanks etrailer.com!

Just a follow up, its been just over a year and the hitch is perfect. I use it for light duty towing of a boat and for a 4-bike rack. Very happy with my purchase!

I purchased this for my 2007 Honda Element LX. Very easy to install. It took about 20 minutes total. I recommend using a drill bit file instead of drilling holes to enlarge the hole to mount the hitch - because the hole doesn't really need to be enlarged that much more. I also suggest watching the Youtube video as this helped to better understand how the unit is to be installed.
I highly recommend this product and company as they quality, value and service were outstanding.

I honestly can't believe I received my trailer hitch 2 days after I bought it

The towbar fit perfectly on my Honda Element. Just as sturdy as towbar on durango. Very well made, fantastic price, EXTREMELY fast shipping. Thank you very much

My poor planning the last few days has given me cause to talk to three different salespeople at etrailer. First, I talked to Yvonne and she was superb, then I talked to Lisa and her assistance was classy and very helpful, then I talked to Karen and she was also terrific. This day and age this is more than was expected and I am very impressed with these three people. I want your organization to know that all three represent you in an impressive light. My experience was more than positive in all respects. I am now a customer for life. Congratulations on your ability to hire well! With respect, Bill Hollenbeck

2010 Honda Element

Installed onto my 2006 Honda Element in 10 minutes. It looks good and it will work just fine. It was easier installing this hitch than giving my dog a bath.

This hitch did not work for my 2010 Honda Element EX. Once I installed it the angle of the hitch tilted downward an enough of an angle that I caused my cargo carrier platform to be too close to the road. Where the hitch bolted to the vehicles tow anchor would allow the hitch to slidemove downward under a load, no matter how much I tightend the u-bolt mount.

  • Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Compatibility
Yes, the Curt trailer hitch receiver, part #C11700, is a Class I trailer hitch receiver. The Kuat Sherpa 2.0, part # SH12b works with Class I and Class II hitch receivers.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2005 Honda Element to Tow a Rental Trailer
Since you're looking for an economical option to tow a rental trailer with your 2005 Honda Element the hitch, I recommend is the Curt # C11700. The recommended ball mount is part # 3592. You will also need a ball. If the rental trailer requires a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256. For a 2 inch ball use # 19258. The rental place should be able to tell you which size you need. If you prefer the larger 2 inch hitch receiver instead I recommend etrailer # e78KR. It costs more but will give you...

  • Trailer Hitch And Hanging Bike Carrier Recommendations For 2005 Honda Element AWD
For your 2005 Honda Element AWD, I did some online research, and the manual states it has a towing capacity of 1500 lbs. When considering a trailer hitch, the recommended tongue weight limit is typically around 10 per cent of the towing capacity. That would mean your Element should have a tongue weight capacity around 150 lbs. Please keep in mind the weight of the carrier you choose added to the weight of any cargo you place on the carrier should never exceed the recommended tongue weight...

  • Class 3 Hitch For A 2011 Honda Element To Carry A Bike Rack
Hello Kathy, we have just the thing! For your 2011 Honda Element I recommend the etrailer Class 3 Hitch # e78KR. This has a 2" receiver and is rated for up to 350 lbs of tongue weight. This will allow you to carry any bike rack compatible with the standard class III hitch and 2" receiver such as the Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22B which is what I usually recommend.

  • What Is Tongue Weight And Hitch That Will Fit On 2009 Honda Element
The first thing you will want to check in the owners manual or with the car dealer is the GCVWR (Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating). The GCVWR is the weight capacity for your vehicle, which includes the vehicle, trailer and the contents. The Trailer Hitch for the 2009 Honda Element, # C11700, will only work on a 2009 Honda Element that is not an SC model. If your vehicle is not a SC model then it would fit and work fine for towing the 750-800 lb. trailer. The Gross Towing Weight on...

  • Is Bumper or Fascia Trimming Needed to Install Curt Trailer Hitch on 2008 Honda Element SC
I have good news for you because I can confirm that no type of trimming will have to be done to the bumper or fascia on your 2008 Honda Element in order to install the Curt trailer hitch that fits, which is the following: - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11700 Please note this does NOT fit the SC models of Elements.

  • Can a 2010 Honda Element EX 4WD be Flat Towed Behind an RV/Motorhome
According to my research, the 2010 Honda Element is flat towable as is. You will still want to consult the vehicle owners manual for any additional specific information on towing the vehicle. Roadmaster does offer a set of base plates for the 2010 Element, except for SC models. The base plate kit I would recommend is the Roadmaster XL Style Kit, part # 1541-3. Roadmaster has a large offering of tow bars as well. I have added a link to the options compatible with XL style base plates. You...

  • Will etrailer Trailer Hitch e78KR Be Able To Replace Class I Hitch On 2008 Honda Element?
The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e78KR you mentioned is confirmed to fit your 2008 Honda Element EX and will be perfect for replacing your class I trailer hitch receiver. As you mentioned the # e78KR is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver that is great due to it having the most available accessories such as bike racks, cargo carriers, and ball mounts for towing a trailer. The etrailer and Curt hitches are both equally built with no clear advantage going to one or the other. It more...

  • Recommended Class I Hitch for a 2003 Honda Element
To add a class I hitch to your 2003 Honda Element you will want the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C11700. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Honda with included hardware. This hitch only has a 200 lbs tongue weight capacity though. I looked online and your Element has either a 300 lbs or 350 lbs tongue weight. With this in mind I recommend going with a class III 2" hitch like item # e78KR and using a reducer sleeve item # HT02. This hitch has a 350 lbs maximum tongue weight and the...

  • Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2005 Honda Element
Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11700 is a fit for your 2005 Honda Element with 4WD. However, this hitch only has a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening and since you plan to be towing a trailer then I highly recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e78KR because it has a 2" receiver tube opening. As you mentioned you will also need a trailer wiring harness and ball mount/hitch ball. For a trailer wiring harness I recommend the Hopkins Tail Light Converter Kit part # HM48925...

  • Is a 1-1/4 to 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter Recommended for Use with a 2 inch Cargo Carrier
I would discourage the use of an adapter for use of 2 inch accessories in 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receivers. The reason is that the adapter places the carrier farther away from the rear of the vehicle and hitch, creating additional torque that 1-1/4 inch hitches, especially Class I hitches, are not designed to handle. For this reason all 1-1/4 to 2 inch hitch adapters decrease the hitch or vehicle tongue weight capacity, whichever is lowest, by 50 percent, making a class one hitch only...

  • Hitch Fit for 2007 Honda Element SC
If you're wanting a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver, you'll want to go with the Curt # C11699 for a 2007 Honda Element SC, as the # C11700 isn't a fit for the SC model. This being said, I'd recommend going with a Class III hitch with the 2-inch receiver opening, like part # e78KR. The 2-inch receiver is much more common, and there are a lot more available accessory options for the 2-inch receiver such as cargo carriers or bike racks. The price differential between the 1-1/4 inch...

  • Trailer Hitch Extender or Adapter for a Factory 1-1/4 Inch Hitch on a 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek
If you just need to extend the 1-1/4 inch receiver out then you can use extender # HES6. If you do need to go from a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch then you can use # HTAD. But keep in mind that the use of an extender or adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent.

  • Can an Adjustable Ball Mount Be Used on a 2008 Honda Element
We sell trailer hitches for your 2008 Honda Element like the Curt # C11700 but I am thinking you are actually looking for a ball mount for the hitch you have installed on your vehicle. Since you have a 1-1/4 inch hitch the only ball mount we can recommend is the one the hitch manufacturer recommends. For example, the Curt would require the # C45521 with either the 2 inch ball # A-82 or 1-7/8 inch ball # A-80. Now you do have the option of replacing your hitch with a 2 inch hitch like...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation to Tow a 1,300 Pound Utility Trailer with a 2004 Honda Element
The Curt trailer hitch # C11700 has a capacity of 2,000 pounds. It is given this rating based on its connection points on the vehicle and testing done by the manufacturer. The connection points on the vehicle for this hitch can handle the 1,300 pounds. What I recommend to give you piece of mind is to go with a more stout trailer hitch for your 2004 Honda Element. The Class III hitch, # e78KR, bolts to the frame in 4 places and to the tow loop. The hitch has a higher capacity at 3,500...

  • 2020 Tiguan 4Motion Towing Capacity
With the vehicle towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, you should not exceed that weight. This could cause a failure and would most likely void the warranties on both the vehicle and trailer. So yes, the 100 pounds definitely makes a difference. If you are indeed going with this model trailer, then you would want to travel with the tanks empty and as much weight removed as possible. The electric brakes will not help with towing capacities, but definitely helps with stopping. To get those brakes...

  • Hitch with Best Ground Clearance for a 2008 Honda Element EX
For your 2008 Honda Element EX I recommend the etrailer trailer hitch # e78KR because it will provide the best ground clearance out of the available hitch options. The top of the receiver will basically be right below the bottom of the rear fascia on the vehicle. With this hitch the distance from the ground to the top of the receiver opening is 13-1/2 inches. That means from the ground to the bottom of the receiver is approximately 11 inches. That is basically about as low as the exhaust...
