The hitch was mostly easy to instal on both cars and serves the purpose of carrying my bicycles! Bravo to etrailer!

Does the job I needed it to do, haven't had a problem. I had my mechanic install both the harness and hitch for a reasonable price. Overall very satisfied.

2012 Honda CR-V

I purchased 2012 Honda CR-V in December 2011. O.E. trailer hitch is $363 + $200 installation. At this time Curt trailer hitch #11555 is the only afetrmarket one to fit my car.
Instructions & installation:
Instead of enlarging the frame holes I filed down the 1x3 blocks to fit the holes.
Under body panel trim diagram is not for a redesigned 2012 CR-V.
It took moor then two hours of tinkering lying on my back, but the result is very satisfactory.
Sales people at "etrailer" have been very helpful in finding out which hitch fits my CR-V
Thanks

This is the second Curt trailer hitch I have purchased and installed, earlier on my Mazda MX5 and now on my 2007 Honda CRV. Excellent products, perfect fit and very easy to install. I also purchased the Curt wire harness for both and they too were very easy to install.
E trailer has very good prices on their products and delivery was very fast.
I've also purchased in the past, wheels, tires and latches for my home built luggage trailer. E trailer is the best company, hands down, to do business with.
Thank you E trailer.

Well, while the wiring harness went great, the hitch install did not. The overall quality of the hitch is good, except for ONE THING. As a tool and diemaker and a manufacturing engineer for over 40 years, I take issue with Curt for their design of the three short pieces to mount to the steel ring. They are too damn short. Should be at least a 1/4 inch per side (1/2 inch total) longer to ensure proper clamping pressure on the ring. The contact with the ring, due to how short they are, is marginal at best. Not a good design. I know, as I have been engineering workholding devices for CNC equipment for the past ten years. Sorry Curt, spend the extra few cents on some longer pieces of steel. Can't give it 5 stars. Sorry.

2009 Honda CR-V

Nicely made product, install went fairly smooth, I needed to file one of the spacer washers to fit into place. I have a 2009 Honda CRV and I didn't need to trim or remove body panel as was suggested in install instructions. Washer for tow loop ( muffler side ) could have been wider.

Working out just fine, no issues. Good solid hitch.

I 1st ordered a draw tight hitch for the 2011 CRV and it did not fit.. After trying a second draw tight, which did not fit, I talked to Kaylin and we decided to try a Curt hitch. The Curt hitch fit perfectly. It is a 30 minute job to put this hitch in and it looks great! Great customer service!!!!!

Fit like it was made for it. Wait it was! My honda CR V is now a toy hauler, an 18.6 ft Hobie Tandem Island

by:

The trailer hitch works great. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 was because there was something wrong with the installation but I can't remember exactly what it was.

by:

All parts fit as designed, were easy to install with two persons due to alignment and weight during install. A single installer would have made it more difficult.
The instructions were decent as long as you took your time to understand them, I had to review in order to comprehend as written.

Nice hitch for the price and install was done in my garage with basic tools. Will look to CURT if I need another towing product in the future.

by:

Seems to work well with our Hitch Bike Rack. This is a light duty Class I hitch; we'll see how this Hitch performs pulling a trailer load of spring mulch.

Product support team is very knowledgeable and they shipped my order so quickly. etrailer is highly recommended!

Well made, easy install ! 2007-2012 honda crv !

This is an excellent product. I got it due the cheapest installer wanted $325 plus tax including the light assembly. I never have put one on but got the product in the mail in two days with regular delivery and put it on the same day (with one helper). All you have to know how to do is drop the exhaust pipe (its easy with WD-40 on the rubber hangers). Took about one hour and I ordered the electric assembly (which again I had never done) and it took about 10 minutes. Great Product. Savings about $185 in 1 hour/ 10 minutes. Best of luck!!! 9/20/14

year later and product just as satisfied with as when assembled.

by:
2009 Honda CR-V

Considering this was a first installing of this hitch it went pretty well for a learning curve. Everything lines up nicely. As other reviews have said there is no warning about installing the rubber muffler hanger (next to the hitch bar) BEFORE you install the hitch. Otherwise you'll be pushing, prodding and jamming it on past the hitch frame.

I used Dremel tool with metal cutting burr to cut the frame holes a little larger as per the instructions.

Still good after one year.

by:
2007 Honda CR-V

Nice product but the instructions and the pictures in my opinion were not very clear. This took longer than it should have because of the lack of clear and precise instructions. Once we got through the installation though the hitch works great.

Honda CRV comes with pre-drilled and tapped holes for mounting a hitch, not sure why but this one doesn't use those holes, rather it requires the modification of a larger pre-existing hole to pass hardware through the bottom with a fish wire. The tricky part is having a tool which will fit above the exhaust pipe to widen the hole. I will say eTrailer for the WIN because I was about to give up then I watched the install video which made it look easier. This requires some mechanical know how and ability to figure out how to cut through the steel frame. Hitch otherwise is solid and serves the purpose I needed, just wish I had purchased the one with the four hole attached which requires no vehicle mods. Extra star for eTrailer making a great video.

etrailer did a nice job covering the installation if you choose to do it yourself. The hitch, proudly made in the USA, was reasonably priced and arrived in a matter of days. Well done etrailer!

Great hitch overall for the price.

by:
2010 Honda CR-V

Installation would have been better if I had read the instructions and understood them more clearly. Having the right tool to open up the holes in the frame is critical. If you don't have hand tool experience and a really good hole grinding tool this is not for you. If I didn't spend so much time figuring out how to open up the holes I would have been done in a half hour.

All is good. We use it frequently with no issues. Thank you.

Perfect for Thule bike rack. Very handy also for strapping my SUV tailgate down with my kayak sticking out beyond the bumper. This hitch beats all other prices for more expensive ones. I would highly recommend this to everyone who is looking for an aftermarket hitch.

by:

Good quality, easy to install. Just what I wanted.

by:
2007 Honda CR-V

The receiver fit perfect and was delivered quickly.
*This is a note about the product itself not etrailer*
Why do they make the plates just slightly larger than the manufactures holes on the frame?? I have installed 2 receivers now and each time you have to grind out the hole for the plate to fit. But its only like a 1/16" you need to remove?

11555+S63360. Honda 2009 CRV + bike rack. Delive packaging.
Hitch had punched 3 holes in the cardboard box. Thankfully the bolt kit was well secured to the hitch center, else it would have fallen out and got lost. The bike rack packaging was excellent.
Fitting the hitch.
Thanks for providing the fish wire, very easy to use per the instructions. Why are you asking the customer to damage their vehicles by filing? I ground chamfer edges on the 1" bar 'bolt washers' and they fitted thru the vehicle holes snugly.
Fitting the bike rack to the hitch.
Straight forward fitting but note that a 3/4" wrench is required to tighten the retaining bolt and undo it when you want to access to the trunk. My wife keeps a dedicated socket wrench in the car so this aspect of the rack is now a theft deterrent.

I had absolutely zero knowledge about trailer hitches and what I needed etc. What drew me to etrailer were all the helpful/educational YouTube videos they have produced. I called etrailer as a result, and had the good fortune to speak to Lacey. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. She coached me through everything I needed for my particular make and model of car. Most importantly, in my case, she asked (without pushing) if I wanted a hitch that required my frame to be drilled - or get a model that did not require me drilling the frame of my car. I definitely chose the latter and it was worth it to me. The product was shipped promptly and was very complete and very well made. The documentation was excellent including the exact measurements I needed to cut an access point in the panel underneath my car. The installation is very doable but you will need better than beginner skills I feel. But again, any video you might see of an installation, plus the instructions makes this worthwhile attempting. My only issue was I feel that the anchor bolts that went into the frame should have been engineered to slip right into place without requiring me to widen the holes. True, I did not have to drill into my frame, but the holes to receive the anchor bolts had to be bent wider or ground out larger to accommodate those bolts. The fit and finish of the hitch makes it look very professional. Overall a good experience.

Overall, product is as represented. Purchased to mount Thule 4 bike hitch mounted bike rack. Installation was a little more cumbersome than I expected. I needed a helper to hold the hitch in place so that the mounting bolts and rectangular washer were not pushed up into the mounting holes in the frame. The muffler had to be lowered from it's mounting blocks for the installation, and was a little difficult to get back in place because of the one arm of the hitch. Finally, a spacer block for the towing loop was missing, and had to be replaced by a 1/4" pc of aluminum stock that I had. On the plus side, I like the center support afforded by the tow loop bolt, more stability right near the load. The hitch looks great, doesn't protrude a lot from the bumper and has a neat appearance. I would appreciate stainless steel fasteners, using the hitch in the northeast U.S. there's lots of snow and salt in the winter. I would recommend this manufacturer to a friend.

For your 2008 Honda CR-V I would recommend you get a Class III hitch like the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 87440, as this hitch has higher towing capacities so it could tow your PWC trailer and if you decide to pull a heavier trailer down the road you would be able to that as well.
