Video Transcript for TowSmart Multi-Ball Mount Review

Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the tow smart multi ball mount for 2-inch hitches, and that's going to have a ball that is 1 and 7/8, 2-inch and also 2 and 5/16. So, we're going to have the vehicle that can tow, whether it be a van or a small SUV, being able to have a host of different things to tow can, sometimes gets tricky when you only have one ball. Well, this eliminates the problem by having three different options. So, if you're pulling a boat trailer, you can use your 2-inch ball. And if you have a small utility trailer, you can swap that over to 1 and 7/8.

Or, if you have something even larger, like a camper, that's 2 and 5/16, and a truck that can pull it, you can also use the ball mount for that. Now keep in mind, you're going to want to make sure that your vehicle can handle the weight towed. So, what can this actually handle You can see here, our 2-inch ball is attached and that's going to be able to hold 6,000 pounds and have a tongue weight of 600 pounds. Now on the bottom side here, we have an inch and 7/8, and that's going to get us 2000 pounds, with a tongue weight of 200. And finally, the larger one, 2 and 5/16 is going to get us 10,000 gross trailer weight, with 8,000 pound tongue weight.

One of the great features of this is, the ability to swap out instantly without having to worry about making sure that the new ball is torqued down properly, or carrying all that loose hardware. This is an all in one. And if I want to swap over from my boat trailer to utility trailer, it's very simple. Simply pull the clip and pin. We're just going to swap this over, put it back in place.

Now we're ready to drop on our new trailer, just like that. So, now that we have our trailer off, let's take a closer look at the ball mount itself. We're going to start by removing the hitch pin. Now this is not included with the ball mount itself, so, if you need one of those, which you will if you're putting this in place and don't have one, we have them here at etrailer. And also if you want to be able to lock this in place, so, someone doesn't just take the pin out and take it with them.

We also have locking ones available. Now it's going to be important that you measure your hitch pin hole, the middle of it, to the ball, to determine how much space you're going to have on your vehicle, and that way it doesn't make contact with the rear fascia or caus any damage. So, we'll measure from the center of the hitch pin hole, to the front of the ball and both the 2-inch and the inch and 7/8 is going to be about 7 inches. Now the larger 2 and 5/16 is going to be 5 and 3/4. So, that measurement is going to show you how far you are away from the ball and your trailer going over to your rear fascia. The ball Mount is steel construction. So, it's going to be very solid. These balls are also welded on, which is great because other times you have to torque that nut on the backside, down to a spec. You don't have to do that here, it's ready to go right out of the box. And it's got a nice black powder coat finish to give it a good look and resist corrosion and rust. And that's going to do it for a look at the tow smart multi ball mount for 2-inch hitches. Thanks for watching..

Works good. The fit is slightly loose in my hitch but I use a "stabilizing" clamp (U-Bolt with a plate) to tighten everything up. The paint on the ball made it a bit difficult to connect/disconnect the trailer the first time using it but since then it is has gotten easier now that much of the paint on the ball is gone.

When using the none 2-5/16th ball it kind of hangs to low for my 2020 Rav4 with Curt hitch. OEM Toyota hitch sits higher and would be fine for that. So if you have a low hitch mount may want to get a different hitch.
