Roadmaster Tow Bar Braking Systems - RM-751437

  • Stop Light Switch
  • Roadmaster

Avoid damage to your vehicle by ensuring that your supplemental braking system is properly positioned and working effectively. Kit activates your RV monitoring system to alert you when the brakes of your towed car are being applied.

Features:

  • Activates motorhome brake-monitoring system whenever brake pedal in towed car is applied
    • Ensures that the supplemental braking system is functioning properly
  • Works great for any application that does not have a tow position in the ignition
  • Wires directly into towed car's fuse box for constant current
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • 12 Volts
  • Application: custom fit for your vehicle

This kit allows your RV's monitoring system to alert you whenever the brake pedal of your towed car is being applied. Other systems operate according to whether the air cylinder is extended and provide no indication of what is happening with the pedal itself. If your supplemental braking system is improperly installed, it may be continuously pressing on the pedal, impeding it from fully retracting and possibly causing damage to your vehicle's tires and braking system. With Roadmaster's Stop Light Switch Kit, you will always know when the brake is being depressed, and you will avoid costly damage.

I did not order this item! It has only been suggested to me by an eTrailer employee in my quest to find the correct parts I need to tow my vehicle behind my motorhome!
Your website suggested I purchase a "Stop Light Switch" for my vehicle but after I ordered it one eTrailer employee said I cannot use it in my vehicle as I have to disconnect the vehicle's battery. The picture of the RM-751437 shows a 7-pin plug
but my motorhome has only a 3 pin plug! Do I need a 3-pin to 7-pin adapter?
I also ordered the Roadmaster Invisibrake which was approved for my vehicle. Doesn't this run off or the car battery?
I am no wiring expert and I also don't want to keep purchasing the wrong items (like the Stop Light Switch that I have to send back).
I had ordered a Steering Stabilizer for my motorhome a couple of years ago and I got good advice on the exact part need and its installation. Why do I feel like I am
on my own on ordering this towing equipment?

The owner's manual...

  • Does a 2014 Smart fortwo Need a Stop Light Switch When Flat Towing
Essentially you need both. The diode kit # RM-15267 powers the lights of your 2014 Smart fortwo so that you'll have running, brake, and turn signals while it's being flat towed. Then the Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751437 is used to alert you whenever the brake pedal of the Smart car is being applied. It taps into the brake light switch and makes sure the supplemental braking system is working correctly. In addition to the lighting and stop light switch you'll also need a base plate...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2008 Smart Fortwo
There are a number of parts you're going to need in order to flat tow your 2008 Smart Fortwo, starting with compatible base plates. I recommend the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit # 52285-1. For a tow bar I recommend going with the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 because of how easy the tow bar is to connect to the base plates and the long arms that make it easier to maneuver when towing.
