The Smart Fortwo is a great option to tow behind motorhomes; you will need a few basic components to along with the Falcon AT tow bar, # RM-522, that you identified. You will need the base plates # 52285-1, wiring # RM-9243-1, a battery disconnect # RM-766, braking system # RM-8700 and a stop light switch # RM-751437. In addition, you may need a high-low adapter, see the attached help article. And you may choose to add the tow defender, # RM-4700 and rock guard, # RM-4000.
The Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit with removable arms, # 52285-1 is a confirmed fit for your 2009 Smart fortwo. These base plates are part of Roadmasters EZ Twistlock series brackets and are virtually invisible, easy to mount and simple to remove. The brackets install on your Smart fortwo's frame to provide attachment points for your Roadmaster tow bar. Please note the attached road test video linked below, along with a detailed installation video too.
These base plates will match up to the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar, # RM-522. This non-binding design allows you to release your vehicle at any time, anywhere, even on unlevel ground. Having a large hookup radius makes connecting a breeze at any angle, even if your vehicle isn't perfectly lined up with your RV because of the self-aligning design.
The RoadMaster Falcon Combo Towing Kit, # RM-9243-1 has everything you need to tow with RoadMaster's Falcon 2 and Falcon All-Terrain system in one convenient kit. Includes wiring kit, power cord, mounting bracket, safety cables, padlocks, tow bar cover, and a vinyl bag to store it all. This provides the needed wiring kit for towed vehicle indicator lights, power cords, mounting brackets, safety cable and more.
For your supplemental braking system that is required by law for flat towed vehicles, I suggest the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System, # RM-8700. This provides automatic, real-time braking in your towed Smart fortwo when using the InvisiBrake. The actuator box installs permanently so that you never have to remove, adjust or reactivate. The 2009 Smart fortwo is one of those vehicles that requires the battery to be disconnected when being flat towed. For this, I suggest using the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, # RM-766. I have linked a product review video with detailed instructions for installation. You will also want to install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit, # RM-751437 along with the disconnect and the supplemental braking system.
Hopefully this provides you all the needed information you are asking for, I have attached a help article for high/low adapters as well.
