To use the Roadmaster Tracker tow bar # RM-020 with your 2015 Smart fortwo you will need base plates # 52285-1. If you want to be able to remove the crossbar from the tow bar then you would also need to use quick disconnects # RM-201.
In addition to the tow bar and base plates there are a few other items needed to properly and safely flat tow the vehicle. First you will need some safety cables, # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.
Next you will need a lighting solution on the Smart. You could save money by using a magnetic kit such as # RM-2120. Or for a more permanent solution I recommend a diode kit # RM-152-98146-7. It also looks like you will need to disconnect the battery to flat tow this vehicle. Consult the owner's manual to confirm. To do that automatically you can use quick battery disconnect # RM-766. And if you want you can also add a charge line to the Smart battery using # RM-156-25.
You may also need a high/low adapter to keep the tow bar level. I have linked a help article showing how to measure and a link to the high/low adapters we carry.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the preferred systems for our installers and what I recommend is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Stop light switch kit # RM-751437 is a requirement for proper usage of this braking system. Basically it is needed to power the indicator light that lets you know the Smart's brake pedal is actually moving.
Be sure to consult your vehicle owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
