Today on our 2015 Ford Edge Titanium we're going to be doing a test fit of the Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack System. As you can see we've already got our front bar up here in place, you can see what it's going to look like once you get it up on top of the vehicle. We're going to show you how to place on that second bar, place everything together, how it all assembles and comes together as one bar and set-up here. Note that we did already put the front bar on measuring from the edge of the glass here to the front of the foot pack here, that's going to be 13" in distance. The distance from this Q Tower to the other Q Tower on the other side, at the same point, is going to be 43 and 5/8 ", making sure that you have an even amount of bar overhang on each side. We'll go ahead and go through on how all that stuff that I just said, the bar overhang and what part is what part, right here right now. You're going to have the bar, which is part number Y00409, and your Q towers which will be your podium styles, they're going to sit up, those are part number Y00124.
You're going to have two separate clips, back clips for the back of the vehicle, and front clips for the front of the vehicle, as well as the fit kit. These are custom fits for the vehicle, the ones on the front are part number Y00664, those are the ones that are already up on top. For the back one you're going to have Y00731, those will be the Q clips and fit kit for the back bar. For the back bar we're going to need to have a space of 44.5" between the 2 Q Towers, you can see that we've already got that one pre-assembled. We're going to show you how to place on this other side right quick. First thing you want to do is take your Q Tower, make sure that you have it nice and undone, like so, with the cover up, and it disconnected.
That way, you can have access to the backside here, if you pull that cover forward, you're going to see an Allen key there, that's what we're going to use this tool here to tighten and secure it around the bar, it will close these teeth up, clamping the bar in place. Let's go ahead and slide that on first, once we have it in place we'll then measure our bar overhang, and our clearance here. Again, I said it's going to be 44.5". You want to try and do this on a flat surface, that way you can make sure you have the bar straight, the feet are going to be straight and flat on both sides. If we weren't on an even surface you'd have one foot cattywampus like so and the other one flat, you don't want to have that, do make sure you have it as flat as possible. If it helps to do it on the ground, do it on the ground.
44.5", right there. We will hold it in place, pulling that cover back so we can have access to that Allen screw, taking our tool, and tightening that piece down. Once this piece is tight, you don't need to worry about it being on a flat surface anymore because this will be secured in place. Next, we will take our lock key assembly, our clip, and our back clip, which is going to be that Q clip 131, or 731. You're going to take it with the clip facing inwards towards the inside of the bar, slide it up to where the sides here fit up inside those grooves, like so. If you look on the backside here, you're going to see that those are going to be lined up to where we can slide that lock assembly straight through the backside, like so.
Take that retaining clip, place it over the top and press down, that's all there is for the clip. Now let's place on the nice, protective, rubber pad that's going to go on the bottom side. You can see the shape here on the bottom, line it up, and press it into place. Once we have that complete we can then set our tool off to the side because we won't use that anymore. We'll take our two end caps that came with those Q Towers, placing them on the ends of the bar so that we don't get any dirt, debris, or build up on the inside of our bars. Then we're going to need our tape measure and a flat head screwdriver, whether it's a short one, long one, what have you, because on the end here you may need to make adjustments to this screw which tightens up the tension or loosens it. All right, next, let's open up the back doors on the vehicle so we can get it up on top of the vehicle. Now the crossbar spread that we're shooting for on this, is going to be 32" from center to center, from the center of the front bar to the center of the back bar is going to be 32". I will repeat that it's imperative that you make sure you have an equal amount of bar overhang. That's from the outside here, to the outside here. Finding where that . Spacing off that first one, getting that center to center measurement from the inside here to the inside there. Again, this front bar was 43 and 5/8", the back ones going to be 44.5". Once you have those two measurements make sure that you got an equal amount of space on each side, so that it doesn't look like you have bar shifted all the way to one side or the other. Let's go ahead and get this up on top of the vehicle, making sure that we have both of the ends unlocked, which is going to be having that door . If you see now, with that door closed you don't have a whole lot of maneuverability with it, but if we open it up, we got all kinds. We'll go ahead and set that over on the other side, like so. Then we will make sure that we get our center to center measurement of 32", looks like I went a little to far so we'll bring it back a little bit, if you got to check this a couple times, you got to check it a couple times, all right that looks good there. Let's get the other one in the same exact spot on the other side, that looks good there. Now, it'd be good if we got an extra set of hands to close down the feet on the other side, that way you make sure that you get the bar centered down and it's not going to be pulled off to one side. You can close up together, perfect. You're ready to put on your roof rack systems whether that be ski and snowboard carriers, roof baskets, cargo carriers, kayak carriers, or whatever you want for your outdoor activities; you're ready to place those on top of your crossbars. You can get all those items at etrailer.com. Now that you've seen our Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack System, part number Y00409, Y00124, Y00664, Y00731, on our 2015 Ford Edge Titanium that will complete our test fit for today.

Pair with Yakima towers, fit kit, and RoundBar SL Adapter to create a complete roof rack.Kimberly has shown that great customer service is not dead! etrailer and Kimberly are great to work with and have earned my business and will always be the 1st and last place I look for my rack+ needs!
As for the application, I needed more space to fit my cargo box on top of my 4Runner TRD Pro’s rack. I came up this this… Thank you!
Free delivery that showed up in 3 days!!! Can't beat it. The crossbars with the Control Towers and LandingPad 9 fit perfectly on my Honda Element. Had them installed in about 30 mins. Don't have my cargo box yet and wanted to test strength, so I had my 110lb wife standing on them with no issues (yes, the car was parked). Plan to take a long camping trip next week with a cargo box on top...wife will be in the vehicle:-)
Works perfectly. I am always impressed that Yakima continues to make parts for the "old roundbars" since they have since moved on to the superior JetStream bars.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!

necessary for using the widest cross bar option (78"). East to install
A great company to do business with, and lots of merchandise in stock. I orderd a roof rack for my truck on Tuesday morning and it was on the porch when I returned from work on Thursday. I will deffinitely order more from etrailer.com
The rack has been so useful since I purchased it. Staff at etrailer.com were exceptionally helpful in getting the best option for my car and answering questions. I recommend this company, for its 110% customer service, excellent prices and timely delivery.
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
One quick phone call and Gwendolyn figured out exactly what I needed for our new car to use my old Yakima rack.
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
Great first experience dealing with you guys! Shipped fast, and was a faster install. You gave me the right parts and it went together in a flash.
Will definitely be doing business with you all again.
I have been using Yakima racks for around 40 years and have never had any problems. However, I am amazed at the price increases over the years. Etrailer prices were by far lower than most. Overall, a very excellent purchase.
Kit worked perfectly on my 2021 Subaru Forester. The whole install took 30 minutes. Never been disappointed with etrailer.
etrailer had a quick response to my email request for info regarding the replacement parts I needed. The suggested replacement part were exactly what I needed to fix the issue.
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
Haven’t used them yet but they should work as expected
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
I'm happy that this allows me to save money by using my old round bars on my new vehicle, with only the purchase of new "towers" and these adapters.
first try was missing what was needed
Etrailer helped. It was great!
E trailer has me me spoiled yet again! If only I could expect this level of service from other suppliers.
Works great to use my round bars on the Skyline towers.
Yakima Crossbars were as you would expect - steel bars coated in a soft black coating (be mindful when you are utilizing these with the top mounts as the clamp will eat through the soft coating when you tighten them down). I had issues with my yakima round bar setup as the brackets and tower system were allowing water to leak in. This is in no way reflective of what youll experience but Yakima has superb support. I spoke with them twice on my issue and out of their kindness they shipped me an entire setup to replace my existing one for free.
Yakima towers and crossbars were solid and easy to install with the very well written instructions. We used them on 2 cross country trips with any loosening. They were easy to remove. We plan to use them again as the need arises.
Product works as advertised thus far. When you buy the yakima towers, you are required to purchase these as well to fit the rounder bars (I feel sure there are other adapters for other bar shapes). These should have come with the towers in my opinion, and I resented having to shell out more $$ to purchase these "must have" adapters to mount my bars. 3 star overall rating based on function, price. Delivery and packaging was top-notch through etrailer.
