Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a quick look at the deluxe compartment door lock set. This is going to help you replace a lock that's gotten damaged. Maybe the key broke off inside that lock core, it's rusted out, it's just not working like it should, so we need to get that replaced.It's going to be pretty simple to get installed. You just need a flat blade screwdriver or maybe a Phillips head.
And that's really about all there is to it. First thing I want to do is put on the grommet here. That's going to help to make it more weather resistant. So it's going to keep out any dust and debris and water from getting in there as much as possible. It's not going to be impervious, but should help.
And then we'll take our cylinder nut and that threads on there. This going to be a little hard to get started just since the threads are pretty fine and that nut is a little narrow.Now we'll have two blades. One's going to have an offset. The other one's going to be straight. Just kind of depends on the setup for your lock.
So you'll want to use the one that's going to fit best. And then tighten that down with the screw and washer. That's where you'll need your Phillips head screwdriver. A flat blade will work just fine, as well. And then can lock and unlock that core.So it should work out nicely.
It's a universal fit, chrome-plated zinc construction. So it should be rust resistant, should give you years of locking ability to keep that compartment door nice and secure so nobody's going to get in and then take your goodies.Does have a lifetime warranty from JR Products and that's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the deluxe compartment door key and lock. Hope this video has been helpful in deciding that this is going to be the right one for you. One last thing I do want to mention is that this does have a 7/8 inch length. That's going to be the length of the cylinder here. So it'll work with those doors that are 7/8 of an inch thick and smaller.
