Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Deluxe compartment door lock. So this is going to be a direct replacement for that compartment door lock that's maybe broken, maybe the key broke off inside there, the core was starting to rust out, whatever the case might be. This is going to be that replacement so that you can get that compartment door locked up tight so no one's going to take all your stuff.So it's pretty simple to get installed. You're just going to need a couple of small hand tools, maybe a flat blade screwdriver or a Phillips head screwdriver. And really, the main thing is that the length here is going to be one and three eights inches long.
So it should work for any compartment door that is that length or shorter.So going from the bottom of the head, that bolt, to the very end there, that's going to give us our three eights measurement. So it should work for those compartment doors that are a bit thicker. First thing you want to do is put on the grommet. That's going to help it to be a little weather resistant, keep out most of your rain and dirt and things like that.And then you'll put that through the opening on your compartment door and then secure the back with the cylinder nut. Then to attach the blade, you can either use the straight blade or the offset.
It just kind of depends on which one matches up better with your setup, and then attach that with the star washer and screw.That's why you need that flat-bladed screwdriver or Phillips head, really either one will work, and then should be good to go. Shouldn't be any drilling required with this, it's a pretty universal size for that cylinder diameter. It is a chrome-plated zinc construction, so it should give you good corrosion resistance, comes with the two keys, so you can make sure that you have extra key on hand if anything should happen. And it does have a lifetime warranty from JR Products.But that pretty much does it for our lock at the Deluxe compartment door key set. I wish these would come keyed different. They are all the same which makes the compartment accessible to many with key.

I did reach out to the manufacturer and you are correct in that there is only one key available. I checked and I do not have another lock with the same specs that offers a variety of key numbers.
