inverter

This 12V inverter, with built-in transfer switch, changes DC output from your RV batteries into AC power and sends it to the electrical system. Using pure sine wave technology, it creates clean power with low distortion, making it safe, efficient, and perfect for sensitive electronics like computers. The inverter can generate 3,600 starting watts and 1,800 running watts which is a great fit for appliances and electronics. Additionally, with the integrated transfer switch, it will automatically change from inverter to shore power when available.

Functions and Features

To connect your AC loads, the inverter includes hardwired input and output terminals. It also has positive and negative DC terminals that connect to your batteries. Lastly, there is a port for the included fixed-mount remote. The system includes a number of safety features. It has a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. Additionally, the unit includes protection for overvoltage, undervoltage, and overloading which can damage your equipment, as well as the converter. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit. The fan speed is proportional to the internal temperature on the converter, so when the power demand is low, the fan will operate quietly. For additional safety, installing a 200-amp fuse (sold separately) between the battery bank and the inverter will protect your equipment from power surges.

Built-In Transfer Switch Automatically Switches to Shore Power

The integrated transfer switch selects the primary source of 120V AC current. This switch has been pre-wired to automatically change from inverter to shore power to conserve battery life. It includes a 20-amp leg rated at 135V. Additionally, since the switch only accepts one active source, it protects your electrical system from dangerous backfeed that can damage your equipment.

Fixed-Mount Remote Provides Easy Monitoring and Control

inverter remote

The fixed-mount remote lets you monitor and control the inverter from inside your RV. It includes a digital display that shows voltage, output power, error codes, and a low battery indicator. It also has a power button to turn the inverter on and off.

How It Installs

The inverter mounts inside your RV in a dry location with ventilation. It should be installed close to the battery bank, but not in the same compartment.

inverter terminals

The DC terminals are wired to the battery bank.

There are several ways to connect the inverter to your RV's electrical system, but this will depend on your rig and how you want to use your inverter. If your RV's distribution panel only has one leg, a subpanel will be needed for installation. You will also need a 100-amp circuit breaker between the inverter and battery positive post. Two 20-amp circuit breakers will be needed to channel AC power from the main panel into the inverter and then out into the subpanel.

I killed my inverter just b4 we leave for vacation. Brandon got one shipped out and it arrived the next day. I need the inverter to run the fridge. Thanks etrailer.

This is a GREAT inverter. Love the digital readout inside the RV!!!

by:

Excellent product, and service. I did a lot of research for an RV inverter, and there are a lot of manufacturers. But the biggest complaint was not being able to get ahold of anyone if there was a question or problem.,E-trailer is wonderful to work with, with excellent products.

by:

Unfortunately the item was damaged during shipment. It contacted etrailer.com and spoke to Kate. She is having another inverter shipped to me and will email return instructions to me. etrailer.com is a five star company and damage during shipment is out of their control.

Super easy installation thanks to outstanding customer support from Dennis. Compact unit fit my tight space requirements perfectly. Highly recommend!

by:

I gave the product a 2 star review because it failed right out of the box. I could have been the fault of shipping to the company or to me this is not known. I will give customer support a 10 star rating for helping me to get the part warrantied through the manufacturer

etrailer should take some lessons from Amazon. When multiple products are sent to a distributor in a large box or pallet, the individual items should then be shipped for an order in a secure package. etrailer simply slapped a label on the manufacturer’s flimsy carton and tossed it to USPS who succeeded it breaking the single stran of tape around the box. When I received the package, the box was totally opened on one end and the inverter mounting tab was bent. Not the delivery I would expect for a $600+ item.

We utilized the Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power RV Converter and lithium Battery Charger as part of our lead acid to Lithium upgrade for our Aliner RV. We had several manufacturers to choose from but are very pleased with our decision to go with this product. It’s performance remains steadfast after the first year in service, its quiet, efficient, reliable and perhaps best of all MADE IN AMERICA! The multi stage smart charging g work flawlessly with our Lithium battery system. 100% recommendations from this satisfied us timer!

Installation of PD9260C into Parallax 7300 power distribution panel

I purchased the Progressive Dynamics PD9260 to replace the power converter in my 2007 Airstream. My trailer had a Parallax7300 power distribution and power converter (AC to DC) installed from Airstream. I decided to replace just the power converter after it had failed. The PD9260C fit perfectly where the previous converter was installed with very little modification or effort.

I simply removed the older converter, removed some standoffs where the previous converters circuit board was mounted along with the old fan, and then drilled some holes to mount the PD9260 in the mounting tray of the old unit. I wired the new converter to the existing connections and tried it out. Everything worked as expected.

by:

I installed this in my camp with 400 watts of solar an a LFP04 battery with a generator hookup. I use the lithium charge profile and it works great. It runs my 12v rv refrigerator with no issue.

by:

Very concerned about this. Unit arrived via USPS in an unmarked cardboard box with zero packing. There was at least of clearance on sides which means it was banging around in the box the whole trip. Looks like a return. No hardware, or screws included. It wasn't even in a bag and "manual" is a corner-stapled 8.5x11 photocopy.

I wasn't planning on installing this right away, and now I'm thinking about returning because I don't want to have problems down the line due to unseen damage or broken solder joints. Very sketchy.

by:

A little bit confusing when speaking with sale team, received conflicting information regarding converters application. Shipping was fast but converter container was damaged and poorly packed for sensitive electronics. Previous business with etrailer has been stellar. May be awhile before I can hookup converter, so hopeful nothing was damaged!

by:

I purchased the Progressive Dynamics PD9200 to replace a failing OEM converter. The unit is wider than the original but with some minor wood work I was able to install it in the original location. As soon as I powered it up all of our problems in the 2018 Forest River 5th wheel vanished. Our main issue was flickering LEDs which drove us crazy. Time will tell if this is a quality product. etrailer is amazing to work with. The item arrived ahead of the estimated delivery date. It was packaged in the original box so the serial number on the unit matched the number on the box. No fear of counterfeit items from these folks.

  • Recommended Inverter With Transfer Switch To Power A Residential Fridge
Conventional refrigerators typically have a starting wattage of 800-1200 watt-hours/day, and a running wattage of around 150-watt hours/day. Refrigerators are reactive devices that require additional power to start because they contain an electric motor, but significantly fewer watts to run as they remain on. Because of this I recommend the Progressive Dynamics Pure Sine Wave Inverter w/ Transfer Switch - Remote - 1,800 Watts - 12V # PD44FR. The # PD44FR has an integrated transfer switch...

  • What Pure Sine Wave Inverter Is Needed
To calculate power consumption simply multiply wattage by the number of hours it is being used. Remember to consider type of current, AC or DC. The number of watts is equal to amps multiplied by volts. Your battery bank is rated in Amp Hours, AH. If you have a lithium chemistry battery you can use almost the entire charge before voltage drops below a usable range. If you have a battery bank that is lead acid chemistry, including those labeled as AGM or Gel, you can use at best half of...

No, the Progressive Dynamics 1800 Watt Inverter w/ Transfer Switch # PD44FR requires a sub panel regardless of what you're powering. The AC circuit breaker you're referencing wouldn't have power unless you were connected to shore power, which would eliminate the need for the inverter anyway.
