Video Transcript for JR Products Compact Low Pressure 2-Stage Automatic Changeover RV LP Gas Regulator Review

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out this automatic changeover regulator from JR Products. What this is going to do is it's going to help you, obviously, regulate the propane in your rig, but it's automatically going to switch over when one tanks down. So right now, the lever's pointed to this tank. When this one reaches its end, it's automatically going to switch over to this one. That way when you come back out here next time, you'll switch a lever over to primarily focus on this one and you can replace this one without worrying about any gas escaping or anything like that but continue to have propane.

Let's check it out.A way it helps you figure out which tank is empty is this gauge here. I'm going to open up this propane and you'll see the gauge will turn to green. Now you know that this one has propane it. So it sensing that it has propane. It's going to be fine.

There's no reason to change the readout. Now, if I flip it over to this one, you're going to watch it slowly switch over and realize there's no propane in this one because I have the valve shut off. With that in mind, just because it's red doesn't mean both tanks are drained. You'll want to switch it over to the other one, you see green and knows this one's full and you're still good to go and you can replace this one now. Now, we worked with two different regulators today. Both of these are from JR Products, but the only difference is this one's a little bit bigger and has extra screw holes.

Otherwise, it's the same thing. Functions the exact same way. You just want to go with the bigger one if you have more appliances that are drawing propane off of it. So like I said, you got way more stuff running off it, you're going to need a bigger regulator to regulate the propane. It's going to help you out with both of your tanks just the same.

Chances are if you're checking this out, it's time to replace your old one. Here's the old one here. We went ahead and removed that, and you needed to do that every 10 years. They recommend it because it's got a rubber diaphragm on the inside that eventually wears out, then you're going to get less pressure. Now, that goes the same with your propane tanks. So if you do them at the same time, that'll work out. If you don't replace your propane tanks and you just get them refilled, up to 10 years it's time to get them reinspected to make sure they're still okay to use. You'll have to take them to a propane place to get them inspected and approved to use.Another thing to think about when you're going to replace your regulator is the hoses that go with it. You want to make sure you get the right ones that have the right connections. We have the inverted connector here. You can see it's smaller than the outside grip, and then we have the NPT connection and you can see that that threaded part matches the outside grip. So that's an easier way to tell just by looking at it and going, "Oh, okay. The bigger one that comes all the way out to the end, that's the NPT, and this is going to be the inverted." If you look at our regulator, it uses the inverted. So you can just come in here and screw it in that way. If we we're going to try and use the NPT, clearly too big. It's not going to thread in there. Looking at the outlet down here, this is going to be sized at 3/8" and it has an FPT connection. So another thing about when going with the lines you're going to be running to it, make sure that matches up with the one that goes to your rig. It's pretty straight forward. That's how the regular works and how you would replace it. But how does it install It was pretty easy. So let's check out how we did it. This is what it's going to look like when you get it. Now, we added a bracket to our regulator that JR Products also offers that's on our website, because the old bracket wouldn't work with our new regulator. It didn't had four screws in it, and the screw spacings didn't match up with this one. This one's an inch apart. So that's something else to look at when you're going to get your replacement. Make sure the bracket matches so you can attach it, that way you can attach it over there too.So first off, I put one screw in there already. Going to simply put the second one in. That way we attach the regulator to the bracket. I'll show you the back of the regulator here in a second. You can see it's got the spaces there where the screws go in. So it's as easy as lining the bracket up and screwing it in. We're going to attach our output hose to the bottom here, the regulator. It's easier to do that before you install the regulator because you can easily just spin it like that and attach that bottom hose. Get it nice and tight. Looks good. Now you can go ahead and set the bracket down on top, because there is a hole just for it and then we'll add our wing nut to hold it in place. Again, want to get it nice and tight. Just going to push down on this bracket and this bracket keeping everything in place. Now we're going to add our other hose. It's easier to screw in this side, which would be our inverted side first, and then attach this side to the propane tank. You're all set. It really is that simple. It installed very easily. It works great. I like that I can switch over to this tank if I need to, but I don't have to. If this tank runs out, it's automatically going to come over here while I'm inside. I don't have to leave the camper if it's cold. I really like that. It makes it easier, and I know I'm covered for the next 10 years. That does it for our look at this regulator. Hope this helped.

Installed this myself, the local camper shop was booked 6 months out, and I didn’t want to take it back to the dealer( camping world) because they are a s**tshow

by:

Worked as expected, this unit has been in service for one year no leaks, and it always transfers from Tank to Tank as expected. Good product I would buy again.

After one year and approximately 150 gallons of propane through this product, it has worked flawlessly and have zero signs of leaks. E-Trailer is always a great company to order from.

by:

Excellent customer service. Received promptly and it was easy changing the regulator. I would definitely do business with etrailer.com again.

by:

I called customer service to ask a question about the propane regulator that I was going to buy and the person I spoke with was very helpful. I decided to place the order over the phone and was very happy to find out it was delivered within two days.

by:

Cured problem, seems to work good, straight forward installation

by:

Replaced my recalled one with this last summer and it worked fine. Opened up camp this year and the regulator won't let propane through it anymore. Had to order yet another replacement through the dealer. Wasn't worth the money..

by:

Very efficient process. Ordered on line, delivered on time. Part was easy to install. I will use etrailer for my next rv purchase.

by:

Arrived faster than expected, Installation went fine, but the real test will be when it has to auto switch tanks at 04:00, it's 25 deg outside, and the heater keeps running... The previous (less expensive) one let us down a couple of times and had to be tapped to complete the changeover.

by:

Great replacement for the older unit.

by:

I appreciate the professional way William handled this order

by:

Bought this regulator for my Jayco Jayfeather 23RL as a OEM replacement. It was a direct fit to the mounting bracket I had. No problems with the installation. Shipping was very fast and box arrived in great condition.

by:

This item took a little while to receive from being on back order which was not a problem, installed it hooked up the propane bottles and verified operation all good. Thanks, etrailer for the excellent products. Always happy to do business with your online sales.

This was a replacement on my trailer that had a recall, but decided I didn't want to deal with a dealer even though it was free, easy installation works great

by:

Excellent service. Part fit perfectly

by:

Fit like the regulator was made for the trailer. I own a reflect 303rls.
The regulator slowed down the vibrating noise when using propane that I use to have.

Waited for more than a year for the part to come in from back order. Finally got it delivered from etrailer and installed it easy enough on the travel trailer. Then hurricane Ian struck and wiped out the travel trailer. So not too happy all around.

  • Which Mounting Bracket for JR Products Automatic Changeover Regulators
Yes. The U-Post RV LP Gas Regulator Bracket - Qty 1 # 37207-30405 is the correct mounting bracket for both the # 37207-31525 and # 37207-30395.

  • Is The JR Products Regulator # 37207-30395 A Good Replacement For A Winnetec 6020 Regulator
The JR Products Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator # 37207-30395 should be set to give you 11" WC straight from the factory. The pressure will still be the same so there won't be an issue with the new regulator having a higher BTU capacity. I went out to the warehouse and measured the mounting holes and found them to be 3-1/2" x 15/16" from center to center. Depending on the size of that bracket you can always drill new holes to match the mounting pattern of the new regulator....

There are actually several options available to replace your Winntec 6020. A lot of propane regulators carry similar specs and are pretty comparable when it comes to quality. As far as specs go the Automatic Changeover RV LP Gas Regulator # 37207-30395 is what you need to replace your Winntec 6020 regulator. When it comes to the mounting bolt pattern this regulator has a pattern of 1" horizontal x 3-1/4" vertical as you can see in the attached photo. If this doesn't match your current bracket then you can use the part # 37207-30355 to mount the regulator. Attached are some videos for you to check out.

  • Why Would Gas Be Coming Out of Long Disconnected Propane Hose
It sounds like you have a bad regulator. These do have a lifespan of about 5 - 10 years so if yours is in that age range it isn't as surprising that it would give out like that. If you had the regulator switched to your 20-lb tank and it switched over to the open-ended hose then that's why I believe the regulator is bad.
