It is ideal for small engines and can be used on snowblowers, chainsaws, and snowmobiles. Simply attach the powerful magnetic base onto the engine block, oil pan, intake manifold, transmission pan, or hydraulic system to heat the fluid in that area of the machinery.

Alternatively, you can keep a battery warm by attaching this heater to the battery hold down. Since this heater easily attaches to most metal surfaces, it can also come in handy for thawing frozen locks, pipes, gutters, and more.

It's great for me because I was looking at purchasing magnetic or adhesive type heating pads for multiple pieces of equipment parked in unheated building and several vehicles not equipped with block heaters that typically get parked outside but with this heater I can use one heater to take care of all of them and my generator and and it works for me because I really only ever want or need to use it on one thing at a time.
I just want to prevent unneeded wear and tear on machine engine parts /starters/ batteries/ etc.

The only downside is that the instructions say "Do Not store heater in temperatures lower than 0°F because of bi-metal thermostat so I won't be storing it in the shop/building/garage but that's not a big deal.

I’m using the heater to keep the crankcase oil in an air compressor warm for easier starting in my cold garage in winter. It’s working great!

The magnetic heater is working just as I intended. I use it to keep the crankcase of an air compressor in my garage warm so I can use it during the winter. I plug the heater in when the weather turns cold, and it keeps the compressor ready to go. Without it, the compressor would often fail to start at all.

I like this product and use it on my air compressor which is in an unheated room. I didn,t know you handled these but found it when I searched on the internet. This was backordered but I was notified and it came earlier than you told me. Thanks again

by:

had to replace KH1190 due to melting of heater.

by:

Cheap materials and it is made only for using indoor. I'm really afraid to let that thing plug all night inside of my garage. You can smell like a burning plastic after plug-in.
This items are supposed to be made for tough conditions ,I don't have time to crawl under the heavy duty equipment in a freezing temperature and clean the grease or mud out of the oil-pan.

by:

Happy with product. Good value

The Kat's Heaters Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater # KH1155 referenced in your question will simply be placed on a flat area at the bottom of the oil pan for your 2014 Ford Escape. If you are wanting to install the heater permanently you will unscrew the oil pan gasket bolt and secure the heater by bolting a piece of perforated metal strapping in place. Remove the handle from the heater and place it in the oil pan making sure it is low enough for maximum heat conduction. One thing you will...

  • Is There a Fix for the Kat's Heaters Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater Not Heating Up
The Kat's Heaters Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater # KH1155 thermostat kicks the heater off when it heats up the fluid to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. This means that it should be heating up right away when it's plugged in. If this is not the case the the unit is malfunctioning and I recommend taking advantage of the 1-Year warranty if applicable.

The Kat's Heaters Thermal Battery Wrap for Diesel Truck Batteries - 125V - 160 Watt # KH22300 is what I recommend. It will wrap around your tank and you can leave it plugged in all the time. The magnetic style heater like # KH1155 you mentioned will only touch 8 square inches of a completely flat surface, so I don't believe it is the best option for your application. Although these also can stay plugged in, the surrounding aspect of the battery wrap will be a better option.

  • Recommended Heater For Oil on John Deere X324 Lawn Tractor
For your application I definitely recommend using the Kat's Heaters Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater w/ Thermostat # KH1155 to heat up the oil on your John Deer tractor. I don't know too much of the ins and outs of lawn tractors but I would imagine the oil pan is more shallow so you likely don't have the 4-5" depth you're talking about. Since this has an internal thermostat you won't have to worry about overheating anything either.
