The Kat's Heaters Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater # KH1155 referenced in your question will simply be placed on a flat area at the bottom of the oil pan for your 2014 Ford Escape.
If you are wanting to install the heater permanently you will unscrew the oil pan gasket bolt and secure the heater by bolting a piece of perforated metal strapping in place. Remove the handle from the heater and place it in the oil pan making sure it is low enough for maximum heat conduction.
One thing you will want to make sure first is that the oil pan for your Ford Escape is steel and not aluminum. If you are unsure I recommend taking a magnet and putting it on the pan. If it attaches then you are good to go and the Kat's Magnetic Heater will work great.
