Lightweight Trailer is Perfect for Hauling Kayaks, Canoes, or Surfboards

MPG461KB In Use

This lightweight trailer comes with post-style carriers so you can transport 4 kayaks, canoes, or surfboards. With a 7-1/2' long tongue, this trailer offers exceptional clearance during tight turns. The extended tongue also makes it easier to back up the trailer and prevent binding than trailers with shorter tongues.

MPG313 rack pads

The stacker-style carrier has soft and durable 18" pads that prevent scuffs, scratches, or damage to your boat during transport. The pads help stabilize your boat while traveling on uneven or rough terrain. They have polyester covers that are water-resistant and UV-resistant.

Submersible LED Trailer Lights

MPG535 LED tail lights

The DOT-approved tail lights on this trailer are fully submersible, so you don't have to worry about damaging the lights when loading and unloading your boat in water. Each tail light has brake, running light, and turn signal functions, as well as side marker lights and reflectors. In addition, these LED lights last longer, burn brighter, and require less power than incandescent bulbs.

Plug-and-Play Trailer Wiring

CE48870 main harness to 4-way

The wiring for this trailer has a simple plug-and-play design, so it doesn't require any cutting or splicing to install. As you assemble the trailer, route the main wiring harness through the trailer tongue and down towards the body of the trailer. Then plug the 4-wire end of the tail light harness into the main harness.

CE48870 4-way plug

Run the wires of the tail light harness along the sides of the trailer frame and plug the individual wires into the matching wires on the side marker lights and the tail lights. The wires are color-coded so that you can easily match them up - no circuit tester is required. Once all of the wires are plugged in, use the included clips to secure the harness to the frame.

CE48870 4-way plug

When you're ready to connect the trailer to your vehicle, simply plug the trailer end of the main harness into the 4-way flat connector on your vehicle.

Leaf Spring Suspension

MPG535 leaf spring suspension

This trailer includes a leaf spring suspension system to limit road shock while you tow. A sturdy steel axle runs beneath the trailer frame. The 2 slipper springs that support the axle flex to absorb the rough motion that can occur when driving over bumpy terrain. Also, the axle, spring hangers, and tie plate are galvanized to resist rust and corrosion.

Quick and Easy Trailer Hookup

MPG535 trigger style coupler

Hooking this trailer to your vehicle is quick and easy. The trailer's coupler connects to a 2" hitch ball, and the included safety chains act as an emergency measure if the coupler accidentally disconnects from your hitch ball. A rubber coated lift handle is mounted to the coupler to provide a solid grip for lifting or maneuvering the trailer. Finally, the skid plate on the underside of the trailer tongue keeps the coupler from touching the ground.

Bought the LowBed MicroSport specifically for my Blue Sky Boat Works Angler 360 kayak. Trailer works great! It's lower and makes getting the kayak on and off easier. Had no issues with the trailer assembly. LED lights work great. After one year I'm very happy I bought this trailer.

by:

: Didn't work out at all considering with the j-hooks installed the trailer is way too deep to hug a wall, so I store the trailer outside with a tarp over it. If you have to store the trailer with the tongue retracted, this is a must have.

by:

Nice trailer, easy to put together except it, being the low bed cane with directions for the high bed. But Etrailef send me the pdf for the low bed.

I researched a number of different trailer options for my pair of Hobie fishing kayaks. Due to their weight, proper support was crucial to prevent long term sagging. I liked the multiple options available with the Malone Microsport trailer and went with the twin bunk option.

The Microsport trailer is sturdy and easy to assemble. The instructions were detailed and easy to understand. I also took advantage of assembly video on the etrailer.com website. All this being said, I found the estimated 3 hour assembly time to be overly optimistic. (It took me about 5 hours.)

I like the fact that all of the parts are galvanized. Living in a rainy area and using the trailer to store the kayaks when not in use, rust prevention is important to me. I'm confident the trailer will last a long time.

I've already towed my kayaks over 100 miles to our vacation home without incident. The trailer towed like a dream. The LED lights are bright and easy to see from behind, even though the kayaks overhang the back of the trailer by at least 4 feet. I was not concerned about drivers behind me not being able to see my turn signals and break lights.

All in all, the Malone Microsport trailer is great, reasonably-priced trailer for kayaks and canoes. It also makes a great rack to store them on, if you have the space.

Can't say enough about the quality and prices. Ashley and Bridgette in CS were extremely helpful in helping me get what I needed in a Kayak trailer, and their follow up was extraordinary. Malone trailer is very sturdy, assembly instructions were right on. Paper work for title and registration was sent to me asap after delivery of the trailer. Trailer tows and tracks very well.

by:

Good quality trailer. Went together easy, had all the parts even though the main packaging was torn open from shippment. Got it licensed with no problems.
I will be hauling my 2019 Hobie Outback on this trailer. Also mounted a 6" tube for
my fishing poles. Will also be adding the storage box. Have not had it on the road
yet. I like the size of this trailer, not very heavy or to large.

by:

This is a great trailer for the price.
I
found the packaging and instructions pretty straightforward and easy to follow.
Once together it seems quite solid and I really like the LED lights.
The crew at etrailer.com were in constant contact and very supportive throughout the entire process and all the paperwork for registration came within a week .

Due to the pandemic, I waited 2 months to receive the trailer. It all arrived in good shape and I was able to assemble it easily. I was pleasantly surprised that the hardware and wiring harness had been upgraded to be more robust. I am waiting for plates and then I will see how it does on the road.

by:

I started building the trailer yesterday afternoon and just finished it an hour ago after spending three more hours on it today. It went together very well. Institutions were very clear. I am very happy with it. I am attaching a photo.

The search for a trailer to carry our two Hobie Kayaks was extensive. My main concern was finding one that could carry the two heavy (83 lbs. ea.), travel at highway speeds and be easy to use. This Malone MicroSport trailer has turned out to be great. It is easy to get our kayaks on and off the trailer at the lake. Rhino-rack Nautic roof rack carriers were installed to carry the kayaks because I wanted them to provide conforming support for the hulls. They have proven to be capable of carrying the weight of the Hobie kayaks and the kayaks can be slid on them when loading/off-loading. This was a primary concern because capacity is not listed with most carriers. Assembly of the trailer was fairly easy and I would rate it requiring moderate mechanical skill. Before doing this assembly I watched a fantastic video online, walking you through the assembly.

I would add just a couple things. Those include: 1. It would be easier to do most of the assembly on a table, until you get to the wheels. Especially true for us older folks that don't bend so well. 2. Be sure to read the wiring harness installation a few times before installation. It is tricky, but will work if you follow the instructions correctly. There is barely enough wire to connect the tail lights. I wound up having to splice some wire because of problems I had. 3. You will need to get some grommets to protect the wires going through the holes in the frame. They are not supplied with the kit. Other than that the trailer works great, very solid and have had no issues traveling at highway speeds. Attached is a photo of the trailer with the kayaks.

Took my wife and I 4hrs to put it together. Instructions were accurate and easy to follow. Perfect fit for our two pedal drive kayaks 12ft And 14ft. Tip- using battery powered impact wrench would have made the process much faster. Very pleased with the results and thanks etrailer for another great shopping experience.

We have used and enjoyed the kayak trailer for about a year. It is a pleasure to arrive home from a kayak trip and I just unhook the trailer and back it into the garage. No more have to lift the kayaks on and off the top of the pickup. During winter I remove the support bars, and tongue to set the trailer up on end against the wall. The only issue has been the wing nuts on kayak holders. I could not tightened them so that the holders move during transport. To solve this issue I replaced the wing nuts with lock nuts. Also the bolt head slips during the tightening of the lock nuts. Other than that, we love the trailer.

by:

Trailer directions straight forward. All materials identifiable, quality made and on hand. Take your time to do it right. Taking on kayak trip this weekend!

by:

Excellent Instructions made assembly straightforward without miss-steps. In my case, 6 hours and assembled.

by:

Great trailer to hold my large fishing kayaks. I am glad I went with this solution as I can permanently store my kayaks on the trailer under my lean to. The trailer took a while to build admittedly and I did have to run to the hardware store to grab a nut I was shorted and replace a metric carriage bolt with thread damage, but overall it is a solid product that drives well and I highly recommend.

A couple notes: The lighting kit is a 4 pin, so you may need to get an adapter if you have an older vehicle (mine had a 7 pin circle style plug only). Also, there is no space tire holder on the trailer like you see in the pictures so you will either have to throw it in your vehicle or acquire parts to attach it to the trailer.

by:

Love this trailer! Works perfect for 1 to 4 kayaks. Easy to Tow! Used on multiple trips & is still working great! Purchased in 2021.

by:

I cannot think where I was ever more impressed with a company than Monroe. They were very attentive and never was there a more easier task than building my trailer. There was nothing missing, and it went together with perfection. Not knowing, but a year before I bought the trailer package, I purchased a kayak 2 wheeled portage cart. Wanting a premier carrier, i bought the best , most stable built cart on the market. It so happens that it was a monroe cart as well. Great group of engineers working on innovation everyday.

by:

Excellent trailer for my two kayaks …nice not to have to lift kayaks onto top of car ….

by:

Was able to order the item when it was not in stock. Trailer was sent directly from Malone but without a proper bill of sale. Now I'm getting the run around and have a trailer that can't be registered.

by:

Always great service ! Any problems and they step up making things right. Highly recommend Etrailer

by:

Great kayak trailer! The assembly instructions where precise and easy to follow, only took a few hours to complete. Highly recommend.

by:

After receiving the 7 boxes, it took me about 5 hours to put it together. All parts and hardware were there and the trailer went together perfectly. I highly recommend this trailer. My Malibu and Caper Ocean Kayaks fit perfectly and should make transporting easier.

by:

Nice trailer... easy to assemble... reminded me of a full size Mysto Manufacturing Company Erector set from my childhood. Instructions were clear... everything made sense.

by:

Please find some attached images of the Malone trailer I purchased from you. Thanks.

Super trailer. Trails beautifully, fun to build, looks great and gets a lot of compliments at our put-ins.

  • How to Carry Two Bikes if your Trailer Doesnt have Room for a Tongue-Mounted Bike Rack
I have a possible solution for you. First, though, using any hitch extender comes with the downside of reducing your hitch's capacity (usually by 50%). That, plus the addition of some sway, is the reason I wouldn't recommend using the Hitch-It, part # LC731138, on a hitch extender. Besides, the Hitch-It is designed for the tongues of a trailer, which are larger than extenders. Instead, since your Malone MicroSport doesn't have any room for a tongue bike rack, I suggest carrying your bikes...

  • Choosing The Best Malone Trailer Setup To Use Given Limited Storage Space
I can definitely help and point you in the right direction. I recommend going with the Malone EcoLight # MAL63FR since it will have the smallest footprint out of the other Malone trailers you mentioned. The trailer itself is about 10' 9" long x 58" wide and 31" tall. This will be advantageous if you are limited on storage space. The EcoLight can hold four kayaks and carry up to 400 lbs which generally is more than enough for most kayaks. We can also set you up with the retractable tongue...

  • Choosing 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness for 2021 Toyota Sienna
For your 2021 Toyota Sienna, I'd highly recommend going with a plug-and-play option, such as the Tekonsha # TK69FR which would work perfectly with no cutting or splicing necessary. As far as a mounting bracket, you really won't need one as the manufacturer recommends leaving the 4 pole connector in the cargo area of the vehicle when it's not being used. This protects it from damage and from the elements. When you need the connector, you can simply run it out the rear hatch (keeping it...

  • How to Transport 4 Kayaks with a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Limited
I can definitely help you transport your kayaks with your 2017 Chrysler Pacifica but at this point in time (July 2019) there are no aftermarket roof racks that are compatible with your vehicle. I did check the online version of the owner's manual for your 2017 Pacifica and on page 175 is states that you have a weight capacity of 150 lbs so if you have 4 kayaks that weigh in at 38 lbs each that puts you at 152 lbs which means you are exceeding the max amount of weight for your vehicle. I...

  • What Solution Do You Have to Transport 1 SUP and 3 Kayaks On a Hyundai Kona?
I have an option for you. For the combination of watersport accessories you want to transport, a roof rack solution is not possible. While the Hyundai Kona's owner manual does not recommend to use the vehicle for towing, the only option for two sit-in kayaks, one above-sit kayak, and a paddle board is the Malone MicroSport Trailer with Post Style Carriers # MAL24ZR. The MicroSport trailer will take away the headache of how to position/stack the paddleboard and kayaks on a roof rack system....

I have a great solution for you. Unfortunately, we do not carry any accessory that will allow you to simultaneously carry 2 paddle boards and 1 kayak on the roof. For transporting this combination of paddle boards and kayaks, I recommend the Malone MicroSportTrailer with Post Style Carriers for 4 Kayaks # MAL24ZR. The LowMax has 4 build-in cradles where you can mount your paddle boards and kayak separately. Another great thing about choosing the LowMax over a roof rack is that it will give...

  • Do the Malone Trailers Come with a VIN That Allows Them to Be Registered and Licensed
Yes. Trailers like the Malone MicroSport Trailer # MAL24ZR do come with a VIN number so that the trailers can be registered and legally towed on roads and highways, regardless of where you live. There are a lot of great options available for kayaks depending on how many you need to carry, so I've linked all of the kayak trailers we have available to this answer for you.
