Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Hitch Bike Rack on Vehicle

The Trail Rider platform-style hitch bike rack makes it simple to carry 1 or 2 bicycles on the rear of your vehicle. This versatile rack is easy to use and it features locking frame hooks and adjustable wheel hoops, so you can quickly load and unload your bikes. The included adapter sleeve enables the rack to fit both 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. A locking, anti-rattle hitch pin tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the receiver.

Locking, Ratcheting Hooks

Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Ratcheting, Padded Wheel Hools

Constructed of rugged steel with a sleek black powder coat finish, the Trail Rider uses locking frame hooks to secure your bikes. The ratcheting hooks are easily adjusted along the vertical mast and lock securely in place. The push buttons allow the hooks to slide up the ratcheting system to allow for bike removal. The lock cores keep the hooks from being moved up or down on the mast to deter theft. The hooks are different sizes and each one functions independently, meaning the rack can carry 2 bikes of the same or different heights.

Adjustable Wheel Holders

Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Adjustable Wheel Holders

The wheel holders accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 60", and you can adjust the wheel hoops by sliding them along the horizontal arms. They are secured in place with hand knobs. Velcro-like hook-and-loop straps secure your bike's wheels to the holders.

Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Adjustable Wheel Holders

If you want to carry a fat bike on the Trail Rider, you can replace the rack's wheel hoops with specifically-designed fat bike cradles (HRSPRWH-F-HD - sold separately).

Folding Design

Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Folded Up on Vehicle

The Sport Rider's folding design makes it easy to store your bike rack. Simply fold up the arms for compact storage.

Easy Installation with Locking Hitch Pin

The Trail Rider easily installs in your hitch with the included locking hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your receiver, insert the hitch pin, and then tighten it down with the included tool. The pin also works as an anti-wobble device to eliminate sway and rattle in the receiver. The frame hook locks and the hitch lock are conveniently keyed alike.

Hollywood Racks adapter sleeve

A removable adapter sleeve is included so the rack can be converted for use with 1-1/4" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed quickly.

Add-On Adapters

 Hollywood Racks Wheel Hoop Adapters

If you want to use the rack to transport a kid's bike with 16" or smaller wheels, wheel hoop adapters (HRSW-ADP-2 - sold separately) are available.

If you want to transport 1 recumbent delta trike or 1 recumbent tadpole-style trike with the Trail Rider, you can use the HRTRK-ADP adapter (sold separately).

by:

I love this bike rack. It was easy to install, has zero problems/issues and my bike was always secure and safe. I did add a cable and lock to act as a theft deterrent while paying for gas, etc. The price is very reasonable compared to others in the market and e-trailers made every step of the purchase and install easy and as simple as one could hope for.

by:

I was impressed with this bike rack from the minute I unpacked it. The assembly was simple & straight forward. I looked at quite a few bike racks & for the price point this product was hard to beat. It is well designed & the keyhole pins make it easy to remove & fold up when not carrying the bikes. The locking hitch pin & locking frame bars are convenient and fairly secure. I will add my cable lock to make the bikes even a little more tamper proof. So far I’m very happy with this his purchase. Now the test of time!

This rack has served me very well over the past year. It is hard to beat for the money. I use it year round to carry my fat tire bike through the tough winters of Erie, Pa. with no issues. Good product.

by:

Works great to carry our 2 bikes on our RV between our tow viehicle.

by:

Overall the hitch works great sturdy heavy duty easy to load. The only difficulty was getting a receiver mounted on our little Honda Civic that took a mechanic!
This hitch is much better than the kind we used to use strapping on the back of the car much more secure.

by:

Easy to use and securely holds our mountain bikes, road and cx bikes. It stores folded-up on the side of our garage. The finish and hardware have remained like new.

by:

I looked at a LOT of bike racks, but when I saw the product video for this Hollywood rack and it was holding the bikes rock solid, no loose bouncing anywhere, I decided to try it and I haven't been disappointed yet. It is solid in the mount, it holds the bikes securely and the locking bars are a good deterrent to anyone wanting a quick steal. I don't leave mine on the car all the time, but so far in the weather here in Florida, it's holding up nicely. Add all this to the great price and customer service from etrailer.com and it's a big win for the average consumer. Thanks, etrailer!

by:

I got this for use with two full-fender bikes, and I'm very pleased with it. The value is excellent. Assembly was straightforward. It's easy to adjust the wheel trays for your bikes, and very simple to use once adjusted. There's no shortage of pictures of this rack on cars, but one of my concerns was where to store my rack when it's not on my car, and the fold-up aspect of this rack made it one of my top choices. Pictured is the rack in the corner of my garage; I intend to install a low profile hook in the wall to hang it from, but it balances nicely (bottom heavy) on the slab. The lumber is 2x3, not 2x4, for scale.

by:

Easy to assemble, solid feel and build, folding to store on the wall is a great feature. I found it very easy to configure for my bikes. Lowering the upright post to load the inner bike makes it much easier to use! For 1/3-1/4 of the price of bigger names I am very happy.

by:

I just received this bike rack. Assembly was simple. I have not used the rack yet but it seems sturdy and will be more than adequate to carry our two road bikes. I really like the fact the center pole folds down to allow easy mounting of the inside bike. I REALLY like the fact it weighs about 20 lbs less than the bike rack we had we road mountain bikes.

by:

Thank You for such a quick order process. Received the rack and assembled and put on my vehicle.
Looking forward to hitching the bikes on the rack soon.

The hitch assembly for my 4 runner was ordered and received rather quickly…Installed with slight tension pulley to fit bolt holes..secured to vehicle and VERY HAPPY …THANK YOU for all

by:

The bike rack came packaged very securely. Directions were easy to follow. I have used it one time and it held my lightweight road bike very well. Seems like it would work well with heavier bikes as well.

Ive had the rack for a year now. I used it to carry my road bike on a 2000 plus mile trim through mountains and other hazardous terrain. It worked very well and kept my bike safe. Great Product.

Meh. It’s become very shaky, and the mechanism to lock the bikes into place has become very hard to use, as has the lock itself.

by:

This is an excellent, well-constructed bike rack. For much less money than other racks, it is rugged and easy to use. The locking mechanisms work well, but are also optional. I appreciate this feature as I often ride in rural areas and don't need to lock the bikes down to the rack during transport, so this makes loading and unloading that much easier. Very happy with this.

by:

We've been using this rack for our 2 e-bikes for a year now. It works well, is easy to use, and seems very sturdy. No bouncing around. We recommend it highly! Would buy again and have recommended to friends.

by:

Rack worked great for our trip out to the Desert Southwest last year from the Outer Banks of NC. Almost 8 thousand miles on that trip with only 1 minor issue with the rack. The built in wobble stopper would back out after a couple hundred miles of driving and the bike movement would become quite noticeable. Problem solved by keeping a wrench handy and tightening the bolt at stops. The loosening seemed to happen less frequently towards the end of that trip.
All in all, it was a good purchase for us and did the job.

by:

I've been using this bike rack for over a year now and I love it. I only carry one bike so I leave off the farthest rack to make it a little more compact. Some minor rust spots popped up pretty shortly after using it around the holes for the steel pegs that allow the tire holders to fold up and down. Nothing to worry about though as it was just minor surface rust where the steel peg actually makes contact with the hole and it never went past the circumference of the hole. There is really nothing that the manufacturer could do to stop that as any coating they put on there would get rubbed off by inserting and removing the steel peg over and over, or even just from it vibrating inside the hole. A few months ago I did have to spray some lock lube into the lock as it was getting tough to press in to slide the top arm up and down, but again that is normal since it's out in the weather. The only other thing I would mention is that when a bike is installed (in the closest position to the trunk) I'm unable to open my trunk as the handlebars are in the way. Again, that is to be expected and I'm pretty sure most other cars will have the same issue. I don't mind as I like the bike to be as close as possible to the car without touching it which is how this bike rack is set up. I use the bike rack at least twice a week and I would definitely recommend it without hesitation. I've included a couple of pictures - one right after I installed it (over a year ago) and one from today.

by:

We are very happy with this bike rack. The rack is very sturdy and we love the locking bolt that keeps the rack from moving within the hitch receiver. The ratcheting locking hooks that keep each bike secured work great too. The rack folds up nicely as well. We use the rack on the back of our pickup truck and the back of our fifth wheel trailer and it works perfectly on both. I would highly recommend this product.

After a year, we are still very happy with this very sturdy bike rack. We have used it on 5 RV trips on the back of our 5th wheel, including from Florida to Maine and back and it remains in top shape.

by:

I needed a rack to carry 2 e-bikes weighing 35 lbs. each. While some tray or platform racks have a greater weight capacity, they also cost hundreds of dollars more than this Hollywood rack. This rack was delivered in just 2 days and was easy to set up. It weighs less than my old hanging style Hollywood rack and it is easy to use. The locking anti-rattle hitch works perfect. The padded locking clamps hold the bikes securely while protecting the finish of the paint. This rack is exactly what I needed, and etrailer was wonderful to deal with!

by:

I bought this bike rack from etrailer during the worst of the Covid supply chain issues. I couldn’t be happier with the product and the experience of buying through etrailer. But there are many bike rack configurations out there. I did a lot of research beforehand to make sure this particular rack would meet my needs and work for my particular bikes. I’d recommend any prospective buyer do the same. Two pluses are worthy of comment. The price of this Hollywood rack was quite reasonable compared to others. Lastly, etrailer provided outstanding communications and customer service.

by:

Hollywood racks are build strong, I have two, an older 4 bike and this 2 bike Trail rider model. I like the locking feature, locks the bike in the receiver hitch and locks the bikes on the rack. Side fold up when not in use, center bar folds down for easy loading of the first bike. 5 Stars!

by:

Wow. Fantastic rack, especially for MBs. Get this one!!

by:

The bike rack arrived quickly after ordering, the box was in good repair and all the parts of the rack were well packaged and in good condition. This is the second bike rack like this that I have had. This one is sturdier than my original one (9 years old). The rack installed into the hitch very easily (my daughter installed it) and together we put the rack together. I took my bike on a 600 km. trip and there was no shifting or swaying. This rack has locking grip bars (the down bars) which my previous one didn't. A nice touch. thank you. I then took my bike and a 5 year olds bike on the rack and though the grip bar didn't come down quite to the frame, it gripped the seat and I had no trouble adjusting the tire troughs to fit both bikes. Thank you for a great product. Debra

by:

Great bike rack for the price. With the hitch bolt tight, it doesn't seem to bounce much. It has a lot of adjustability for different bikes. Bikes are locked up and all locks are the same key.

by:

I assembled the bike rack the evening it got it. The instructions along with your online video were great tools to get it built ind install on my Nissan Frontier pickup. I drove 20 miles today and the rack held my bike secure. I have heard some stories about weather affecting the rack if you leave it in the elements which makes sense to
me. After using it today I detached it from my truck and stored it in my garage out of the elements. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this bike rack. It is very beefed up and sturdy. I have ordered from etrailer before and customer service has always been excellent. The box came to me undamaged and packed very well. All parts were present. Totally happy experience.

by:

It takes some time getting used to repositioning the wheel brackets for different sized bicycles, but overall this rack does an excellent job! I love that the hooks actually lock in place so that I can securely leave the bikes on the car when I travel.

Hey there Jessica; thanks for the question and I went ahead and got the adapter added to our site for you so you can carry kids' bikes with the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Bike Rack # HR200Z. For that you just need the Small Wheel Adapter # HLY84RR. Great choice with the Trail Rider # HR200Z, by the way. It's one of the best overall values you can get for a bike rack - nothing overly fancy, it just does what it needs to do, and does it well.
