This premium 2-bike rack is perfect for the serious cyclist who cares as much about style as performance. It's safe for carbon frames and the front-mounted foot pedal makes it easy to access your cargo area without removing your bikes.

Specs:
Note: May interfere with bikes with front fenders.
The Sherpa has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying carbon bikes or bikes with a custom paint job. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.
The large, folding front-wheel cradles accommodate most bike wheels. The hinged cradles flip up to hold your wheels in place and fold down so they're out of the way when the rack is folded up against your vehicle. There is a hook-and-loop strap on each cradle that wraps around the tray and through the spokes of your wheel to hold the wheel in place. You can also use the straps to secure the cradles flat so they don't flop around when the rack is in the stored position.
The pivoting rear-wheel cradles self-adjust to accommodate your bike's wheelbase. Set your bike's rear wheel into the cradle and it will automatically adjust to grip your wheel at the optimal angle. Use the ratcheting strap to secure your wheel to the cradle.
The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through your bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.
The foot lever lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo area access. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner. When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage.
The knob at the front of the shank lets you quickly and easily install the rack. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. The knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge inside the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. The locking hitch pin has an Allen tool on the end that further tightens the hand knob if you are still experiencing rattle after hand-tightening.
The Sherpa 2.0 includes locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. The 1/4" thick cable threads around your bike frames, passes through the cable's looped latch tip, and inserts into the lock on the outside bike tray. Coil up the cable and store it in your vehicle or bike bag when it's not in use.
To lock the rack to your hitch, simply insert the hitch pin and connect the lock to the end of the pin. The locks are keyed alike so you can use the same keys for both locks.

The arms that grab the front wheel have loosened a little bit and move side to side. They have never failed, just feel a little wobbly. The hitch receptacle is also hard to tighten but might be due to the receptacle it self. Used rack on a long trip and the bikes moved slightly side to side, but nothing serious.

This is a great rack! There's not a lot to the assembly, other than getting the first two long bolts in, those were tricky. Once those were in there, aligned properly, the rest of the assembly was pretty easy.
Attaching the rack to the hitch receiver was the easiest part of the whole thing! The rack is really nicely portable, and will easily store in our apartment during the off season. It takes less than a minute to get it loaded into the hitch receiver.
The cable lock is a little bit flimsy, but should hopefully deter casual thievery. What I would have loved to have seen were locks in the retaining arms as well, so those couldn't be messed with by strangers. Otherwise, this rack is really great, and I would highly recommend it.

The rack is still working great! We had a Saris bones previously, and this rack is so much easier to load the bikes on, and weve never had any issues, even whenb weve hauled our bikes up to Canada. Thanks for checking in, you guys are great, Ive recommended you to anyone looking to buy any kind of bike rack.
Awesome product. This is the third bike rack that I have purchased from etrailer. It is the second hitch mount bike rack for me. The first hitch mount, Thule, required additional strapping to hold the bike on the rack - which was a pain. Nothing more unsettling than looking out the rearview mirror to see your bike dangling off the back of the car! However, this Kuat Sherpa is an awesome hitch. Bikes are easy to load and unload. Bikes do not touch or rub against each other. They are secure in place and I have no worries about trips down the interstate. If only I had known, this would have been my one and only bike rack purchase.
The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 is amazing. I’m so happy I went with an aluminum bike rack, instead of a steel one. It is so nice and lightweight. Plus, this one in particular looks great with my 2017 Volkswagen (VW) GTI SE. So easy to install and use. It is really sleek and high quality.
Love this rack. It's very well made. No rattling whatsoever. It's so quiet the only time I take it off my car is when I need to wash it. Would buy it again, or even consider the pricier Kuat racks when it's time to upgrade.
Could not be more pleased with this carrier for light weight e-bikes. Easy to assemble and use. Loading the bikes is easy and quick. The rack firms up tightly with the handle.
My Kuat Sherpa 2.0 arrived early and was exactly as expected. Very light and easy to install. This is a picture of it mounted on a Curt 11130 hitch on a 2009 Mini Cooper S convertible. Sits a little high, but functional and stable.
Assembly directions were a bit vague but managed to figure it out. Easy to install the rack on my car with a tight, secure fit. The best feature is how easy it folds down so I can use the rear lift gate on my vehicle. My backup camera was confused at first but I definitely could see past the hitch
I really like this bike rack. It was very easy to assemble and install (the hitch on the car was another issue). Its a bit heavy but that adds to its stability. I carry two e-bikes on it, which are much heavier than a traditional bike and I can take comfort that they are very secure (their combined weight is essentially the max weight for the rack). Looks great on the back of my BMW sportwagon as an added bonus. Also, allows me to still open teh rear hatch with the rack and bike on it.
We initially chose this bike rack over several others due to the fit and finish, ease of use and the fact that it was a great aesthetic match to the car. In addition, due to our car's sunroof, a roof rack was not an option.
That being said, after several prior years with roof rack, we will now always choose a platform style carrier because of the ease of use and ability to use the same rack with several of our cars. It's great being able to just pull the bike off of the rack and be ready to go. It's also nice to have out trunk completely free of bike wheels on trips!
Yeah... Not a huge fan.
I've had this rack for a year now and have used it sparingly on my KIA RIO to haul bikes around.
Loading bikes is fast and easy!
Bikes are fairly secure and I've never had any issues with them coming loose or falling off the rack but that being said... I've decided this mounting solution isn't for me. Bikes aren't as secured on the rack as much as I would like and I find myself constantly worrying about them. Also the rack has far too much play for me to be at ease when using it.
An issue I have run into is that my rack has some fore/aft play and also makes a 'knock' sound when being jiggled. I have checked all the bolts and everything is tight so I'm not sure where it is coming from.
As I stated previously this rack has NOT failed me in a major way—i only find it dissatisfactory.
Excellent service! Bought 2 Kuat Sherpa racks from them - quick, timely response. First rack i ordered for a class 3 hitch only to discover i could only get a class 2 itch for my QX50. They took the return and shipped me a class 2 rack. That rack then got damaged by a rear-end collision - so i ordered another. Very friendly, courteous, professional response. Definitely recommend them to anyone.
This rack is great. It fits well on our vehicle and is very flexible. Not only do the bikes fit well and not interfere with each other but the rack tilts up and down even while the bikes are on it. It folds up neatly too on the car when the bikes are not on it. I would highly recommend this rack. And everyone a eTrailer was helpful. They were great.
Love my Kuat Sherpa. Just installed it today and can't wait to hit the trails. Thanks

The bikes do not feel secure on the rack. We had an incident where the bike was dragging behind our car once. I believe it was due to someone messing with the rack while we were dining out. Since this time we have double checked to make sure everything is secure and we have not had that issue. 2 We had the bridge police Throgs Neck Bridge, New York stop us this past May because he said, the license plate was covered by the bike rack. We did not have the bikes on the rack at the time.
Love my new Sherpa rack. Light weight, attractive, and easy to load bikes on to. Very easy to assemble, read the directions and then follow them exactly, took 10 minutes to complete assembly. Like the flip up front tire holder and the built in locking system. Overall couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.
I love my Kuat Sherpa 2.0. I have it on my Mazda CX5 for about a year now and I leave it on most of the time Dropping it so I can get into the back of my car is barely an effort and I do this quite a bit. I get annoyed easily at little nuisances so this is saying A LOT! The best part about this bike rack, though, is how QUICK and EASY it is to rack the bikes. I can have two bikes racked and be driving away before anyone else has even one bike racked - whether it be a hitch rack or a roof rack. I often wonder why everyone does not have a Kuat. I know they are expensive but this rack is worth every penny and then some! Getting the rack off my car, when necessary, is also easy to do - just unlock the pin, loosen the ball that keeps the rack secure in the hitch and pull off.
The only word of caution is to READ the installation instructions BEFORE you open the box!! I did not and realized too late that the box serves as an assembly aid. Putting it together should take 10 minutes but it took me too long (too embarrassed to say) and was not a fun experience. This was due to my own stupidity since I am pretty sure the box stated to read first.
Buy a Kuat!
I love my Sherpa 2.0. The Sherpa 2.0 is a significant improvement on the Sherpa 1.0, which I also loved. The 2.0 is easy to put together, the hook arms hold bikes well. Not so crazy a about the flip up plastic to hold the front wheel in place. Easy to raise and lower and it is one of the lighter hitch racks on the market.
e Trailer buying experience way above average - personal contact on status by representative is world class
Hitch great, including packaging that acts as assembly tool
Excellent ease of use and install/remove from car
Hitch-to-car lock needs work, looks like could be pried off with screwdriver, probably have to buy good one from another manufacturer to protect this expensive rack from being plucked off of my car
Great for carbon bikes, travels well and feels secure when strapping in the wheels.
I love it! It does exactly what I had hoped for: Easy and quick to use! It folds up and down in a second to access trunk. It takes only a minute to (un)mount two bikes. It is sturdy and takes quite a beating (I constantly use the rack to temporarily hold stuff I load into my car). And it looks stylish. I was hoping for a rack that would not stand between me and a bike ride, and it does exactly that! Highly recommended!
First off the customer service with etrailer is exceptional; I was able to place an order directly with Nicole on a Sunday. I am very impressed and highly recommend.
As for the actual product I love this bike hitch. It's very sleek and compliments my vehicle perfectly. Very sturdy and so happy I ended up going with this one.
Love the bike rack. Such good instructions to assemble it.
The tow hitch was easy to install. But it is a two man job and a car lift would have made installation a lot easier.
Really great purchase. We use it several times a week and has prevent our bikes and our car from getting scratched by the old bike rack we had.
Quality. Well built. Easy to put together. Few parts. Tip. Read Directions first before you pull contents out of box as the box itself supports installation. Also, I would watch a You Tube Video to get an overview of the process. etrailer was prompt and offered great customer service followup.
Fantastic Service and Speedy Delivery! Best prices too! When browsing etrailers products, be sure to add items to the cart to see the discounted price.

Works well but pretty creaky even when all the bolts have been tightened. Still holds bikes pretty well. Front wheel moved slightly during a long trip.
