with these fittings and transmission oil cooler on my 2000 Ford F350 superduty powerstroke diesel has lowered my temps by 15 degrees.
Thanks

I have a 99 Ford F250 4WD 7.3 diesel with 191,000 miles. I am on my 4th transmission. I pull a horse trailer once a year to Colorado or Wyoming from E Texas on an elk hunt. Other than that, maybe a camper or horse trailer hauled to my deer lease 100 miles away. I finally added a temp gauge to the last one. Now I was seeing that my tranny was running around 205 just pulling my trailers up a small grade around my county. Outside temp around 90. I replaced the original Ford cooler with one from Ford. Same results. I did research on my own and stumbled on to Etrailer.com and articles of the Derale 8000. I had this put on by my radiator man. He wanted to mount it above the Ford cooler to get max airflow. He had to fabricate some brackets and use some other hose connectors as the ones furnished didn't fit right. Not a problem for me as this thing has finally solved my problems. I ran the same route with my horses loaded in the trailer(est 6000# total wt). The temp gauge registered 170 to 175. That is a drop of 30 to 35 degrees. I now feel confident when I go to Colorado in a few weeks that I won't be broke down on side of road with overheated tranny and buying another tranny when I return. Etrailer shipped product very fast. I am overly happy regardless of it not just fitting perfect.

I installed the Derale D13503 in series with my existing factory installed auxillary cooler for added protection on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. With the Sport Trac tranny having the reputation for overheating failure, I took the cooling up a notch! I tow a 7X14 enclosed v-nosed trailer, and now I am protected! It was a very easy install, and the included hardware made it pain-free :-)

As a returning coustomer I can say all my dealings with atrailer have been great.
Great product, price, shipping and the very best coustomer service.
Product fit perfect and preformed as expected.
Will be back in the future when I need products etrailer sells
Thanks

Great product at a good price , makes adding a trans cooler easy.
fast shipping too.

by:

Does not work on 99 F250 7.3L. The flare sides of the fittings are to long and deep to use with the existing cooler and fittings.

by:

Recommended for the transmission cooler install .... Did not see where it was needed.

  • How to Tap into Transmission Fluid Return Line on a 2012 Ford Expedition for a Transmission Cooler
The line that you will need to tap into is the transmission fluid return line. The easiest way to determine the return line on your 2012 Ford Expedition transmission is to start the truck, shift into drive but do not go anywhere. After about 15 seconds or so put the truck back in park and apply the emergency brake. Turn off the truck. Out of the 2 hoses attached to the transmission, one should be warmer than the other. The one that is cooler is the return line. You can use radiator adapter...

  • What Additional Parts Are Needed to Install Derale Transmission Cooler on 2011 Ford F-150
You are correct! The Derale # D13504 is a confirmed fit on your 2011 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L engine and you will need to use the # D13025 fitting to complete the installation, but that's the only additional part you need.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2003 Ford F-150 with 5.4 liter V8
Yes we have transmission coolers that will work great installed on your 2003 Ford F-150 with a 5.4 liter V8 engine like the larger and very efficient Derale # D13504 that requires the adapters # D13024 and # D13025.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2007 Ford F-150 with V6 Engine
The Derale cooler part # D13503 is a fit for your 2007 Ford F-150. This cooler is very universal in what it can fit and your Ford truck would work well with it. For the quick install fittings the part # D13025 would be what you need if you have 5/8"-1/8 lines or part # D13024 for 1/2-20 fittings.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2009 Ford F-150
Both the Derale Transmission Coolers # D13503 and # D13504 referenced in your question are great options for your 2009 Ford F-150. Between the two options, I recommend going with the Derale # D13504, as its slightly larger size will allow for a greater cooling capacity. The unit measures 11 inches wide, 12 inches tall, and 7/8 inches deep. As long as you have the required space behind the grille of your F-150, this cooler will work perfectly. If your F-150 has the 1/2"-20 thread on the...

  • 1/2 Inch Hose Barb Fitting to Install Transmission Cooler on a 2005 Ford Expedition
We have a 1/2 inch compression fitting to go from 1/2 inch line to 1/2 inch NPT barb # D13033. I would actually have the flow go from the transmission, to the factory cooler in the radiator, then from there to the other cooler, and then to the Derale cooler before going back to the transmission. This is the normal way to install a supplemental cooler (at the end of the line). The fitting we have listed for the 2005 Ford Expedition is # D13025 which are 5/8 inch inverted flare fittings.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for Bypassing Factory Cooler of 2008 Ford Explorer
It is possible to bypass the transmission cooler of your 2008 Ford Explorer's radiator and run just a supplemental cooler. For that the Derale Cooler part # D13503 would work well as this is a pretty large cooler with dimensions of 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. The part number # D13025 comes with fittings that will attach to your current transmission lines. Since you'd need two of the female connectors you'd have to order a quantity of two of these. Then you'll be able to put these...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2013 Ford F-150 with 5.0 Liter
With transmission coolers you basically want to go with the largest one you can fit in front of the radiator. A very popular option is the part # D13504 which measures 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep and would be a great choice. To make the install as easy as possible you would want the part # D13025 which allows the cooler to install without having to cut or flare any lines. The cooler does not attach directly to brackets of your radiator, but with it's push pins it installs very easily.

  • Recommended Transmission/Oil Cooler for 2006 Ford F150 w/ 5.4L Engine
A combination oil/transmission cooler isn't a vehicle specific item. The best place to install a combo cooler is directly behind the grille in front of the radiator/AC compressor. You'll need to choose a cooler that will fit in the available space. I'd recommend the # D15902 kit which has a condenser that measures 17 x 12-1/2. Your 5.4L engine would need the # D13025 fitting kit, but everything else needed is included in the kit.

  • How to Add Transmission Fluid After Installing Transmission Cooler on a 2003 Ford Explorer
I wasn't sure why your transmission fluid can only be filled by a dealer. Your 2003 Ford Explorer uses one of two possible automatic transmissions used on Ford Explorers from 1997 to 2010 and a lot of other vehicles within that same time frame. So I checked the owners manual and found out that it doesn't have a dip stick to check the fluid so you would not be able to add any. Basically what you would have to do is have a Ford technician perform the transmission cooler installation. Whether...

  • Transmission Cooler for a 2002 Ford Super Duty with 7.3 Liter Turbo Diesel
The optimum transmission fluid temperature is between 160 and 200 degrees. Factory coolers are usually adequate at best. Since transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled adding a supplemental cooler is a good idea. I recommend going with a larger cooler for your truck since you are likely going to have the space for it and because a larger cooler will be more efficient. Cooler # D13504 is the most popular option. I also reocmmend fitting # D13025 to avoid having to cut and flare lines. I...

  • How Difficult is it to Install a Transmission Cooler on a 2012 Ford F-150
Transmission coolers are fairly simple to install requiring just a bit of mechanical aptitude and some basic tools. If I had to rate the process on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being easy and 10 being hard, I would have to say about a 5. I have attached an install video for you. The process to install the cooler will not be the same as the attached video for your truck but very similar as the process will only differ slightly. If you plan on taking it into the mountains, I recommend adding a transmission cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient # D13503. This will help your transmission to stay cooler when working so hard. For this installation, I recommend the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury # D13025 confirmed to...

A large cooler like # D13105 that you have referenced would be a good choice. The larger the cooler and the more airflow it can get the more efficient it will be in cooling the transmission fluid. You may also need to add fitting # D13025 so you will not have to cut and flare lines. But I think you would benefit more from a remote cooler that has its own fan like # D13960. That way you will always get the optimum amount of cooling all the time. I have included a link to our FAQ article...

  • Will a Remote Transmission Cooler Fit a 2005 Ford F-250 with 5.4 Liter
The great thing about the Derale remote transmission cooler # D13950 is that you can mount it where ever you have space. Since it has its own fan it does not have to be placed out in front of the motor. This will allow you to position it in the place with the most room and that does include areas outside of the engine compartment! The only stipulation you will want to follow is not to place it too low or to where the fan or fins are facing the ground because something could bounce up from...

  • Recommended Towing Products To Allow 2000 Ford F-150 To Safely Tow 3000-4000lb Boat Trailer
I would be happy to help, but there are a few items you listed that are not commonly used on a boat trailer. Typically boat trailers do not use electric trailer brakes thus eliminating the need for a trailer brake controller or controller wiring harness. Boat trailers more commonly use surge brakes which are hydraulic and use a surge brake coupler to control the braking force. Some surge brake actuators use an electric reverse lockout solenoid, so if the boat trailer you purchase has one...

  • Recommendation For Transmission Cooler on 2005 Ford Excursion 6.8L / V-10
I would strongly recommend to add an aftermarket transmission cooler to your 2005 Ford Excursion 6.8L vehicle to prevent any damage to your transmission. The ideal operating temperature range of your transmission fluid should be 160 to 200 degrees. Adding the cooler will not bypass the existing factory cooler which is located inside the radiator. For towing a trailer like what you mentioned with a 1999 Ford F-150 a supplemental transmission cooler would be a great option that we would highly recommend. Most likely your truck came with a factory cooler but typically they do not do a very good job at all. Especially around the age of your truck. The plate-fin design is superior to the tube-fin design in that it has internal turbulators to help the oil cool faster and prevent pressure loss.
