So far the trans cooler has been working well. I also used the adapters. Both products are doing well after 1500 miles or so and many hills, mountains, and trailering.

100 happy with the trans cooler and adapter set. Temp stays nice and cool. Puts me at ease when towing my trailer.

by:

worked great doing the job it is designed for

by:

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

by:

Will make the installation of the trans cooler easier

by:

Have I gotten my refund for trans cooler fittings that weren't needed? 1994 k1500 trans cooler is working great.

by:

Very handy for unique installations fo transmission coolers

by:

It looks like from reading the matierl if one is using the cooler in series with the factory cooler this adapter is not needed.
Thus I would like to return, but I fear the shipping cost will not make sense, dollar wise...

Thus the recommendation should state if you are adding a cooler to your system where one does not already exist, then you'll need this adapter.

So if your adding to an already existing system, you do not need the adapter.

by:

Worked out great for installing the extra trans cooler.

by:

by:

Just received my order today. I haven't installed the parts yet. They appear to be high quality though.

by:

I purchased these fittings thinking these would fit my GM product. NOT.......These are 3/8 and looks like the fit the truck series only as stated on the package. Be aware

by:

Great product, very happy with it. Etrailer shipped it right away.

by:

Does exactly what it is intended to do. It keeps the temp down while towing. Very easy to install as well.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2002 Chevy Avalanche
The aftermarket transmission coolers we offer are supplemental coolers and designed to work in tandem with the factory cooler as opposed to bypassing it. Having said that, you do want the largest cooler that can fit, so you'll need to measure to determine the space you have on your 2002 Chevy Avalanche. If you have 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep of space I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit with Barb Inlets - Class IV # D13504. Keep in mind the 5/8" Inverted...

  • Are Radiator Adapter Fittings Needed When Installing Transmission Cooler on 1999 Chevrolet Corvette
When installing a transmission cooler in a 1999 Chevrolet Corvette the adapter fittings you might need is the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for GM, part # D13018. These fittings are only needed if your Corvette has a 5/8 inch hex size fitting on the transmission line. If you have a different hex size, then you do not need the adapter fittings. The # D13018 adapter part is two fittings, which is all you will need to install a transmission cooler to your Corvette. The Derale Snap-In...

  • Transmission Cooler For 2003 Chevy Express 1500 For Towing
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 2003 Chevy Express 1500 is the Derale Series 8000, which is the following part number: - Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13503 I like the # D13503 because of its efficiency; it is a plate-and-fin cooler, which means it uses smaller plates that cover more area than other coolers in order to agitate transmission fluid. Because you cannot over-cool fluids, the rule of thumb with transmission coolers is that size matters...

  • Troubleshooting Transmission Fluid And Engine Coolant Mixing On 2003 Cadillac CTS
Sorry to hear about the problems with your brother's 2003 Cadillac. The first thing you will want to do is have the transmission taken care of. I am not aware of a separate cooler for the transmission located under the intake manifold. Typically what is used is a line that runs from the transmission to the radiator. The radiator holds engine coolant and the transmission fluid line is run inside the radiator as well. The radiator cools both the engine coolant and the transmission fluid...

  • Best Transmission Cooler for a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD with 6.0L V8 Engine
For your 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD with the 6.0L V8 engine, I highly recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13504. This 8000 series cooler measures 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep which will be a good fit for your truck. You can expect temperature drops anywhere from 20-30 degrees fahrenheit while using this cooler which will dramatically increase the life of your transmission. Installation is very simple as you can see in the attached video but you will...

  • How Does Derale Radiator Fitting for Transmission Coolers Install on a 2002 Chevy S10 2.2 Liter
The Derale transmission cooler fitting # D13018 is listed as a fit for your 2002 Chevy S10 2.2 liter. The fittings thread onto steel transmission lines and in the radiator so you will not have to flare the lines. I included a picture that illustrates this.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2006 Chevy 2500HD 4L80E Transmission
Good call trying to reduce your transmission fluid temperatures. The cooler the fluid is the longer the transmission will last. The best way to pick out the best cooler for a vehicle is to measure the area in front of the radiator/ac condenser and select the largest cooler to fit there. It also helps to get a stacked plate style cooler as they are the most efficient and pretty small in size. I attached a link to a page that has all of the stacked plate coolers we offer. I also attached...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2006 Chevy Silverado
I would recommend installing a supplemental transmission cooler on your 2006 Chevy Silverado. Your current setup MIGHT be adequate, but the number one killer of transmissions is excessive heat. So basically the cooler you can keep your transmission the longer it will last. The Derale Transmission Cooler # D13504 that you referenced would be an excellent choice for a transmission cooler. For transmission coolers you have to go by their dimensions compared to the available space where you want to install it. Stacked plate cooler # D51908 is 13 inches across, 7-7/16 inches tall, and 2 inches deep. If you have more than this much space in front of the radiator then it will fit your 1999 Chevy Silverado. • Transmission Cooler to Correct Transmission Overheating Problems in 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.0 V8
The best option for your 2002 Chevy Silverado with the 6.0L V8 engine is a plate fin cooler like the Derale # D13504. The plate fin style cooler helps dissipate heat better than a tube fin style and this is the largest cooler that is going to fit in your vehicle. These are relatively easy to install and will help cool down the transmission by using the air intake from the front of the truck. You will need to add the Derale Radiator Adapter Fitting # D13018 for this to be compatible with...

Factory transmission coolers are adequate at best at keeping the transmission fluid within the optimum 160 to 200 degrees F range. Adding a supplemental cooler is a good idea, especially since transmission fluid cannot be over cooled. If you do towing, hauling, or are otherwise looking to get the most life out of your transmission then adding a supplemental cooler would be a great idea. Cooler # D13504 is a good choice. Yes, you can bypass the auxiliary transmission cooler on your 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 but you will need an adapter to do so, the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for GM part # D13018 which goes straight on the radiator and allows you to hook up the new lines without any splicing. You cannot over cool a transmission. The ideal install location would be in front of the radiator and A/C condenser, right behind the grille.
