Can 2017 Toyota Tundra SR5 Tow 2020 Forest River 286RL Fifth Wheel Trailer
Question:
We have a 2017 SR5 TRD 5.7 V8 4x 4. Can we pull a Forest River 2020 286RL 5th wheel dry weight 8499 lbs. Our truck has a max towing of 9900 lbs. We are so confused, we really dont know if we can pull it. What do we have to look out for with our truck and this model 5th wheel. We need help to figure this out!

Your 2017 Toyota Tundra definitely has the capacity to tow a 2020 Forest River 286RL with about 1,400 lbs of extra capacity to spare. So as long as you don't plan to load the trailer with more than 1,400 lbs worth of cargo your truck would work great and be totally safe.
The Reese fifth wheel hitch part # RP30081 that you referenced is an excellent choice for a fifth wheel hitch. It has a hook jaw design that wraps around and holds the king pin of the trailer very tightly which gives you a very smooth and comfortable ride quality when towing. For a set of rails to install in the bed of your truck so that you can mount this hitch the best option is a custom install kit like the Reese part # RP50084-58. Custom install kits like this minimize drilling and install time so they are the best solution.
