Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2010 Toyota Tundra with 5-1/2 ft Bed

I have a 2010 Tundra Crewmax with a 5 1/2 foot short bed. I will be pulling a RV camper. A conversion kit to a goose neck from a 5thwheel. What would be your recomemdation?

First let's start with a fifth wheel rail kit confirmed to fit your 2010 Toyota Tundra. For that you will want a custom install kit like the part # RP50084-58 that will minimize drilling and cut install time in half when compared to a universal kit.

Since your truck bed is so short the only way you will to make sharp turns is if you replace the pin box of the fifth wheel trailer with a Sidewinder pin box.

You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have know in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.

For a hitch I would recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047. This has a great jaw design for excellent king pin contact and it won't break the bank. I attached a review video for you to check out.

Since your trailer was a fifth wheel trailer and now it has been converted to a gooseneck that would imply that it has the square nose on it like most fifth wheel campers have. A gooseneck hitch setup would not give you anywhere near the clearance to make tight turns, that is why I recommended you remove the pin box/gooseneck adapter of the trailer and go with a Sidewinder.
