Video Transcript for Review of etrailer E-Track - Wheel Tie Down Straps with Roller Idler and Bag - e62NR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the etrailer 12-foot-long E-track wheel tie-down straps with the roller idlers and the ratchet. Has a 1,333 pound working load limit and this part number is for a quantity of two straps and a nice storage bag. Now these E-track tire straps use the roller idler, so it'll let you secure a vehicle to your trailer. They use spring-loaded fittings on the strap and the roller, which you can see, you'll clip into the E-track slots and the roller idler and the ratchet, if you notice, have a nice zinc coating to 'em, so they are rust resistant. Now the E-track I have this displayed on is not included.

We do sell that separately, same as the tire and wheel combination, those are sold separately, but I just wanted to hook one of these up just to show you how it would look when it's attached to one of your tires and wheels on your vehicle. Now this ratcheting tire strap comes with the roller idler, which allows you to move the ratchet away from the vehicle so it's easier to tighten down the strap. There's no need to crawl under the vehicle to tighten the ratchet. On some of your tie-down straps, the ratchet will be way up here and it's hard to operate. Here, they position it at the base of the tire and it serves as a third anchor point for the strap.

Keeps the tension on the strap you can see and then you can ratchet all the way back here a lot easier. Now the ratchet strap secures the tire in place. The sturdy ratchet right here helps you achieve and maintain maximum tension on the strap. Right now it's in the lock position so the handle's locked down and they have this release lever. It's a spring-loaded release lever.

This'll disengage the ratchet when you're ready to unload or lock it down, but you just pull up on this and it releases it from the lock, and now you're in the ratchet position and you can just ratchet as tight as you need. Also, what's nice is if you need to hook up and you wanna pull out some extra strap to hook things up you just rotate this 180 degrees all the way down there and then, you'll notice it, you heard the tension release. Now it's in the free wheel position, so you can pull this strap as much as you need out. Once you get it and then you hook it up, pull the release lever, put it back in the ratchet position and then, just like that, you can see you ratchet it so it's tight again. Once it's tight, drop it into lock and you're ready to go.

So very easy to operate. Now also included on the strap, if you notice these three black rubber pads, they have raised rubber grips on both sides. So what's nice about that is when you install this onto your tire and wheel, I just want to zoom in and show you, here's one right here. You'll see that pad, there's the two edges sticking out. They have two on the underside, they actually go into the grooves of the tire and what that does, that'll help hold the strap in place keep it from falling off when you're tightening it down. Also, if you notice along the strap, they have these extra added pieces and those added strap pieces keep those pads in place so they don't just move together. it'll keep 'em from moving together. They have these every so often along the strap itself. Nice feature. Now the webbing on this it is a two-inch-wide durable polyester webbing, sort of like a seatbelt material. It is abrasion resistant. What's nice about this is you can see the whole straps are all bright yellow, so it's very easy to see in the day or the night. Now on this part, what's also nice, if you notice, it does come with this nice heavy duty water-resistant storage bag for storing both straps and the rollers and everything all together, and it has nice handles on it that allow you to transport it a lot very easy. Now the specs on this, this is for a quantity of two ratchet straps with the roller idlers. Application is horizontal and vertical E-track and X-tracks. Strap dimension, two inches wide. Each strap is 12 feet in length. Now the maximum load or break strength on these straps is 4,000 pounds each. But what's more important is the safe working load limit. On each strap on these will be 1,333 pounds which is basically a third of the break strength. And they do have tags on 'em that'll tell you that working load limit. And the reason I bring that up is because tie down straps and their accessories must be chosen according to that safe working load limit, in that the weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps that are being used. So just to give you an example if you're using straps with a working load limit of 500 pounds each and you're tying down a load that's weighing a thousand pounds, then of course you're gonna need two straps to safely secure that load. And they do always recommend that you always use straps in pairs. Now this part includes the two straps and the storage bag we talked about. If you want, we also sell these in a quantity of one if you just need an extra one. And that's part number E96HR. But that should do it for the review on the etrailer 12-foot-long E-track wheel tie down straps with the roller idlers and the ratchet, and has a quantity of two with a storage bag.

Very nice product. The spacing/locations of the black sleeves on the tire straps that interact with the tire treads were too far apart to effectively catch a 15 inch auto tire properly. I did find a work-around by slipping the two outer black sleeves past the doubled sew layer, and inward farther on the tire strap. Nice heavy duty ratchet. The roller idler is a very nice addition to a heavy wear-point on the straps.

These straps make strapping the car down by yourself very easy. No more crawling under the car to do so. First time I used them it took me about 10 minutes in an enclosed trailer to have the car completely secure. Highly recommend getting these.

  • Do Trailer Tires Need To Be Balanced?
All of the tire/wheel combos we sell are already balanced in the manner that trailer tires are balanced. Every tire and every wheel has a high (heavy) and low (light) spot. The manufacturers offset the high spot on the tire with the low spot on the wheel to balance them. Trailer tires do not need to be balanced beyond that. We do not have equipment here to mount or balance trailer tires. We ship all of our tires exactly how they were received from the manufacturer. That being said, you...
