4-Way Trailer Connector Installation

Because the color/function of the wires on this connector may not match the color/function of those on your Ford F-250 Super Duty, be sure to use a tester (sold separately) to double check the function of each wire on your Ford F-250 Super Duty's tail light wiring harness before installing this connector. Once you've figured out the functions of your Ford F-250 Super Duty's wiring, use the included quick-splice connectors to connect the corresponding wires on the trailer connector. Quick-splices, or "wire taps," offer a quick way to make connections without you having to strip and twist wires. Just place the wires in it and snap the cover down.

The number 1 reason trailer wiring comes up faulty is a bad ground, so make sure your ground wire has a solid and clean connection to metal. To make this connection, you'll need a self-tapping screw and a ring terminal (sold separately).

Wiring Configuration

Wire Color Wire Function
Green Right turn and brake light
Brown Tail lights and running lights
White Ground
Yellow Left turn and brake light

Quick Tips:

We install a lot of wiring harness around here, so we thought we'd share a few tips we've picked up over the years:

  • Butt connectors - especially heat-shrink ones - provide the most secure, longest-lasting connection, so we'd recommend you grab a few and swap them out for the quick-splices in this kit.
  • Use a circuit tester on the plug terminals once the harness is installed to make sure everything's working. There's nothing worse than figuring out that you have a bad ground or a faulty connection right before you're about to hit the road.
  • Be sure to put a little bit of dielectric grease on the 4-way plug to protect the terminals from dirt, grime, and corrosion.

Oh my goodness! Customer Service will be in touch as soon as possible.

by:

Will all I can say is it's a well-built good-looking product. It was very easy to install. And easy to wire it up.follow the instructions that you get am 71 years old and I did it All in 45 minutes.
When I was ordering this product customer service went out of their way to help me in any way they could.
I would recommend this company to anyone they are very pleasant people to do business with.and the shipping was right on time

by:

While it worked well, I threw out the supplied connectors and used more weather proof versions. But the wiring was long enough and I have had no issues with it.

Wire harness works fine but had no instructions, not even a identifier for which color wire does what. No ring terminal included for the ground wire. I think an end cap should be included on the harness due to the fact that there is power at the plug end any time the vehicles lights are operating. I ordered connector cover 20112, fits well on this harness.

The 4 pole trailer connector part # C58044 is designed with a green wire, yellow wire, brown wire and white wire. The green wire wires into the right turn wire of the vehicles wiring harness. The yellow wires into the left turn signal of the vehicles wiring harness. The brown wire wires into the tail light signal. The white is the ground wire that needs to be grounded to a clean bare metal surface on the vehicle. A ring terminal that accepts 14 gauge wire such as part # DW05737-1 can be used to ground the white wire. If you would like an end cap on the 4 pole connector I recommend part # 20112 by tow ready to protect the end of the connector. I have also attached a wiring help article to assist with the installation.

This is a standard flat connector for attaching to a trailer. I don't have it installed yet, but it looks like it will work perfectly. The cable is long enough to connect to both rear lights.

I finally got it installed. My 87 Jeep has had the wiring modified several times in its life so nothing was as it was supposed to be. I finally got all of the previous mistakes unwired, returned it to normal and then added the connection for the trailer. It was easy to install and worked perfectly. I like it and use it all the time.

Hitch delivered quickly. The packaging is excellent. The condition of the hitch is new. The fixing kit, bolts and nuts correspond to the hitch. The video on the site was of great help in installing the hitch. I would like to have a video on the site how to connect the wires, but it's not difficult for an electrician. Problems with the installation of hitches on the car did not arise.

This Curt 4 pole part C58044 is a hardwire installation. I have attached a video of the hardwire installation for part # 18252 on a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. It is a different part number but the same installation. Although, I do recommend part # 56076 custom fit plug and play wiring harness for this vehicle. The plug and play option is a much easier installation.

by:

Ran this from the front of the 5th wheel and back so I could pull my other trailer. Another job well done...... Thanks

Harness is still like brand new. The cover cap keeps the contacts nice and clean when not in use. Would buy again anytime.

Great, no issues. As good as the day I put it on.

by:

Had an embarrassing issue with one of the quick-splice connectors breaking - would recommend soldering all wires for longevity.

by:

Perfect for the application and reasonable price. I believe etrailer.com has spent some time considering which wiring kit is best for each vehicle.

by:

This attached very easily to my tail light wires. When not towing, I just shut it up in my trunk, and when I need to pull, I open the trunk and pull them out. I was very skeptical when I got the kit and saw the instructions, but it worked!

by:

I'll start by saying this arrived with my hitch in just a couple of days. It installed easily, as I have experience with wiring. It's high quality, and well made. I did not use the provided clamps that came with the wiring kit. I've found that splicing and soldering the connections with heat shrink tubing for protection is the best method.

by:

Easy install. Performs exactly as advertised. You will have to buy a special electrical kit to be able to hook up trailer lights.

by:
1991 Ford Van

Product worked okay, but the connectors didn't. They would not close and tap the main wires. I had to splice the wires in directly. Otherwise, It works.

by:
2012 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Description of product should in bold letters describe that this is not for the trailer but instead for the vehicle. Product is of no use to me.

However with the help of on line installation instructions.
Mission accomplished.

I have ordered many times through etrailer.com and have never been disappointed. Great service and ever good products. I wish you were in my home town.

by:

I have bought several items from etrailer for several years and I have never been disappointed, mislead, or had to return any of them. I have always found them to have several selections, thorough descriptions, competitive prices, and reasonable shipping charges. I live in a small town about an hours drive from any place adequately equipped for trailer needs. Internet shopping has solved this problem for me. Thank you etrailer.

by:

Just what I needed. Splice taps went right in the trash though. Crimp caps are reliable.

by:

I replaced the old wiring harness with this new one. Looks like a very good product.

by:

Great product and at a great price, "etrailer" has now become my number 1 stop shop for all my trailer needs now. Due to speed and unbeatable price.

by:

Dealing with etrailer has been nothing but a joy to do business with. They have a great selection and very reasonably priced. Fast service and delivery. I wouln't hesitate to do business with them again. Looking at their products is like being a kid in a Candy Store.....lol. Their products are first rate quality.

by:

Very easy to install, hardest part is putting the trunk liner back in place. Watch the YouTube video to get the correct wire colors.

by:

needed this to splice into an existing harness setup. works great. no problems

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56259 is designed to work with your 2021 Subaru WRX, but if you've had it that long and reinstalled it that many times I wonder if the wiring is just worn out. Here's what I recommend doing to determine if the issue is compatibility or just the wiring itself: Connect all of the wiring as the instructions call for it, and then use a circuit tester to see if the correct signals are on the correct wires prior to the converter box.
