Parts Needed to Make a Taillight Signal Converter to Go From 6-Way Separate to 4-Way Combined

Question:

I bought a Hopkins 47305 adapter 6 round to 4 flat but only 4 of the round are electrically live, so I only get turn signals but no brake lights. The signals and brake lights all work on the trike, as do the 4-way emergency flashers. Will the Hopkins HM47320 or the Bully TC-131 solve this problem in a cheap and easy, plug and play manner, without any wire splicing? In other words, are the adapter/connectors internally connected to join the brake and turn signal lights? Thanks for your help and advice with this problem. Don

Expert Reply:

Since your tow vehicle has separate turn signals and it sounds like your trailer has combined signals you will need to use an converter like the # RM-732.

Sounds like your trailer has a 4-way on it and your trike has a round 6-way, so to make an adapter you will need a part # C58044 and a # PK11604 as well.

You will want to determine the pin outs of the 6-way of your trike so you know how to wire up the # PK11604. Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 for this. You will want to wire up the input side of the # RM-732 to match the pin out of your 6-way on the # PK11604 and then the output side of the converter will match up color for color to the # C58044 with the running light circuit bypassing the converter.
