Trouble Connecting the 4-Flat Trailer Wiring to the 4-Flat on My 2008 Ford F-250

Question:

I put the lights on a trailer for my sister and the two connections are square corners and the connector on my vehicle has round corners. Do they make an adapter that can plug the lights up so I can make sure they all work right?

After viewing the photos that you sent me, I have a solution to your problem. It looks like the weather shielding around the 4-flat on the trailer was manufactured different then the standard 4-flat. I recommend cutting the old plug on the trailer of and wiring in Curt Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # C58044. The Curt end is designed to fit the plug that is on your Ford.

You could also try to trim back the weather shielding on the trailers plug to fit the one on your vehicle, but sometimes the fit will not be as good as replacing the plug end.
