2013 Chevrolet Equinox - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector

  • Trailer Hitch Wiring
  • 4 Flat
  • Powered Converter
  • Tekonsha

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Chevrolet Equinox with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered ModuLite reduces strain on wiring system.

    • Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily
    • Locate connection points in rear cargo area
    • Plug in T-connector
    • Run hot lead to car battery
  • Includes ModuLite to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer
    • Powered module connects directly to battery to avoid overloading vehicle's electrical system
  • Constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire
  • Comes with dust cap for 4-way flat connector

Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 2.1 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 5.6 amps per circuit
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

I've been a customer of etrailer for many years, and purchased a variety of items. This wiring harness was just what we needed when adding a hitch to our recently-rehabbed salvage vehicle ('15 Chevy Equinox). Now it's worth more than twice what we paid for it! etrailer made sure we got the right harness the first time. Great service and prices!

it works but had to remove fender lights could not handle the load. but I had 22 tail and running lights. they were vary dim. removed fender lights [4 of them] not needed for reg. or inspection. now all 18 are bright as should be. And trailer is legal . fender lights can live with out. now at least I can set on them.

The wiring kit (118494) went together flawlessly, everything hooked up perfectly. I also installed a draw-tite hitch (76028) which also went in flawlessly. This should work great to pull my enclosed trailer and to hook my bicycle rack to. Thanks for a great product.

@RobertH We're happy to hear that, thanks!

Went super easy. Did it over my lunch break at the shop I work at. Ran a tap through the 4 weld nuts from the factory and everything fit together like it should. Way easier on a lift then on the ground but it can be done.

by:

Product worked as it should! Easy to in stall.

I replaced a similar wiring harness because the module had failed. New harness is working great. Installation on an Equinox a bit tricky but doable. As pointed out by other reviewers, wiring length could be a bit longer to help with installation. Suggest buying a tester so do not find out when renting a trailer there is a problem.

After a year the module replaced is still working great.

This is my second wiring order for two different vehicles. Both wiring systems were great. The first one I ordered was not the right one because I ordered the wrong one but they exchanged it promptly.

by:
2014 ChevroletEquinox

The wire harness was extremely simple to install because of the directions provided. Although I don't pull my trailer on a regular basis when I do I never have any issues with my lights. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to add towing capabilities to their equinox.

2014 ChevroletEquinox

Overall this is an OK wiring harness. I bought this for my 2014 Chevy Equinox and to put it bluntly it didn't fit. The control unit on the left side worked fine but to get the right side green wires to connect to the passenger side blinker the wire simply wasn't long enough, fortunately I was able to solder an 12" extension into the wire however I feel I really shouldn't have to do that. I was routing it according to the instructional video provided on etrailer.com.

Secondly, I find it a little weird that this unit requires a battery feed at all, it's really just acting as a relay, I have used other harnesses before that didn't require a hot power source...seemed weird and unnecessary for a 4 pole wiring harness that is just doing flashers and brakes lights...

If you can't find anything else get this

Best price, fast delivery and the absolutely best instructional videos available.

2010 ChevroletEquinox

Installed on 2010 Chevy Equinox that did not have factory tow package. Spent a little extra on flexible tubing and ran power wire inside tubing from converter to battery.
Followed the brake lines from from to rear. Instead of mounting power converter under the vehicle as shown in video and instructions, I mounted the converter in the left side tail light bay. The wire harness to the right side tail light was now too short so spliced in a length of wire and was able to run the right side harness inside the square tubing that the rear bumper attaches to. Also ran the right side harness in flex tubing.

For the price, they should add a few feet to the right side harness. Other than that, install was easy.

2016 GMC Terrain

This is an excellent product and has all the required parts for installation. I would recommend quite a few more nylon wire ties, but most of us have lots of them anyway. Just to mention that, if you get the wires in the wrong position when fishing them through the "boxed" part of the body, they can get severely stuck. I found the same issue when fishing the bolts through that same place for the hitch. This is on my 2016 GMC Terrain. There is a bolt and a metal "tab" that could make fishing a real nightmare. The video instructions are great, but not the printed version included in the kit.

I first heard of etrailer while searching for a video on installing a trailer hitch on my suv...The video was very informative and also had links for all the parts needed along with other accessories available for my equinox. With the help from there website link I had my order completed in less then 5 minutes. I highly recommend you take a look at there site. best part is after watching there video on installation I completed the trailer hitch and lighting harness in less then 30 minutes.

thanks etrailer,

Mike

2012 ChevroletEquinox

The printed instructions and video are spot on. Good product, pretty easy to install if you are comfortable and/or familiar with minor electrical work (splicing and crimping). The only reason I did not rate as excellent is because I could not mount the T-connector black box behind the taillight (where the instructions suggested) because the wiring harness was not long enough. I had to mount on the undercarriage and may I may need to retrofit with some sort of securing device because I am not sure how long the double side tape will last. My only other challenge was deciding where I wanted to route the wire running from the battery terminal back to the driver side taillight. Additionally, you may want to have some extra and longer zip ties on hand. I used several more than what was supplied and found that I need some longer zip ties based on where I routed the wire along the frame.

Overall I am satisfied with the end result, they work perfectly!

by:
2010 ChevroletEquinox

The product works perfectly on my 2010 Chevy Equinox. It is a bit of a pain to run the power wire from the back of the vehicle to the front. However, it just takes a bit of time to make sure the wire is routed and secured properly.

Joe

12/11/2015

did you end up just routing it under the vehicle?

Got this in short order and in good shape.
It's
a long and tedious process to get this installed.
Not because of the kit but because of the process.
Removing both tail lights wasn't too bad. But getting the
power wire from the rear to the engine bay is a pain. You
have to be careful if you want a decent looking job. If I did
another one I would use split corragated flex conduit all
the way from the back to the battery.
Can't really say anything bad about etrailer or this kit.

2017 ChevroletEquinox

I emailed a question regarding pertains to products I need for my 2017 Equinox. Jameson promptly returned my email with links to each of the products.
I placed the order, received everything in great condition. Installations instructions were spot on, with videos posted for additional help if needed.
I’m very pleased with strainer, my start to finish experiance was superb.
Thanks etrailer, great work. You have nailed the lost art of customer service and satisfaction.

by:

Fairly easy installation. Works like a charm.

by:

Fairly easy to install. The only issue is that the etrailer video shows the the modulite being mounted using double sided stickey tape on the undercarrige of the vehicle. When you do this the white ground wire does not reach up to the spot behind the driver side tailight where the instructions say to drill the grounding screw through the double sheet metal light. The white wire is only 12" long. I made other arrangements.
I have no picture yet as I have to gather the crew to go and stock up on wood pellets for the winter.

by:

Instructions should include exact placement of the module behind the tail light. Green wire harness going to the right tail light could have been six inches longer. I had to tuck it behind the weatherstripping at the bottom of the tailgate opening to have enough. Otherwise it worked out fine.

2012 ChevroletEquinox

Too bad there is not a rating higher thanExcellent. This product worked well. The installation video on YouTube was most excellent and VERY helpful. Watching the videos helped me decide to buy from etrailer.com on both the Curt hitch and trailer wiring module package. I installed my hitch in about 45 minutes on 2012 Equinox and the trailer wiring kit in about the same time.
Also I had occasion to call and speak with one of the agents at trailer.com, she was very helpful and cordial. Great place to order from and to deal with, the best !!! I do not have any photos to post but the YT Videos do a great job of showing how it really looks.

by:
2016 GMC Terrain

Hitch is great! Installation was easy because of kit included in kit. Cost was great! Shipping was very quick! also wiring in the light kit was not to bad besides running power wire from front of car other than that... excellent!

by:

After many years of splicing trailer wiring, I started using harnesses for the right vehicles. Etrailer has been great with videos and customer service. I highly recommend Etrailer to everyone.

Wiring harness for my trailer hitch was the right one for my vehicle and functioned as expected.

The etrailer Trailer Hitch, # e98865, for the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox does include the fish wires to install the bolts on the frame of your vehicle. For your wiring harness, there are two options. This hitch has a class III rating with a 2" receiver tube opening. It also has a weight capacity that exceeds your vehicle's rating so there will be no need for something with a higher rating. But to the bottom of the hitch it would be approximately 12-3/4 inches (subtracting 1-1/2 inches for the thickness of the metal and the receiver opening). There's also a third less expensive possibility....if your Equinox has the factory tow package with the connector behind the bumper on the driver's side (see provided photo), you could use # C94FR. The # 118494 you'd looked at is for an earlier model Equinox, and wouldn't work on your 2020 model.
