etrailer vs. Curt Hitch on a 2013 GMC Terrain
Question:
What is your HONEST opinion about the DRAW TITE versus the CURT hitches as far as finish holding up to the elements in the North East part of the country. I have a 2013 GMC Terrain and am looking at the 76028 or the 13591 hitches. Another question is both will fit without any modifications to my vehiche correct? I initially will use it to hold a bike rack but may also get a small trailer to pull a 4 wheeler. If it were your vehicle which would you put on your Terrain. PLEASE be honest. Thanks

In terms of quality both etrailer and Curt make very reliable trailer hitches and honestly neither is going to wilt under the elements in the northeast U.S. When choosing a hitch what people generally look at is capacity and, like you asked, if modifications are going to be made to their vehicle.
The etrailer # e98865 and the Curt # 13591 are basically identical hitches except for their finishes. The Curt has a glossy black finish and the etrailer has a matte black finish which I think blends into the vehicle better, but it comes down to a matter of preference.
If you are going to be towing eventually you'll need a 4-way connector # 118494 and I also recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip. You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise. I've also attached links to a video review of the ball mount kit and our page with each of our ball mounts, as well as links to install videos of both hitches and a link to our page with our selection of bike racks.
