Why Circuit Protected Trailer Wiring for 2016 GMC Terrain is Better

Question:

looking for a wire harness for a 2016 gmc terrain and you show 3 different ones. One has a hot wire ran all the way from the battery any idea why? and is it needed? the other two seem alot easier but want to get the right one thx.

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 56094, will fit your 2016 GMC Terrain and will work to operate the trailer stop, turn, and tail lights. But, it does not have a circuit protected or powered converter to protect your vehicle wiring.

If given the option, I will always recommend the circuit protected powered converter, # 118494, because it is designed to protect your vehicles sensitive wiring. What it does is virtually eliminate the extra power draw on your vehicle wiring from the trailer. If there does happen to be a problem, the only damage that will occur is to the harness and not your vehicles wiring or other electronics.
