Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at Coghlan's Compass with LED-illuminated dial. If you're looking for a reliable pocket compass that you can use in the dark, this might be a good item for you to consider. The LED-illuminated dial allows you to find your way in low light, and the light stays on when the button is held down to help preserve your battery. Now, I'm gonna go ahead and just shut my studio lights off here to show you this light, and I'm really impressed with just how bright it is. So my camera might not pick it up all that well, but hopefully, you can can see that that dial is lit up completely, so you're not gonna have any problems seeing this dial in low light to dark situations while you're pushing down that button. So I'm really impressed with this light, really bright, really brilliant, and it's got a nice color to it as well.

Let me go ahead turn my studio lights back on, let me see if you can see it even with my lights on, just ever so slightly. But again, it's a bright light and it's gonna be very useful, it's not just some kind of a gimmick. This includes two SR1131 batteries, and so, when the light starts to die on you, you can easily replace those batteries, and the battery panel is right there. Now, this lid features a built-in magnifier, see if I can get that to work for you here a little bit. Pull that up there on my ring, so you can see, the magnifier works pretty well, that's gonna help you read maps or see other items closely.

I think it'll even make this a little bit bigger, just a little bit, if you wanna look at that dial. And the black folding case is going to protect the compass when it's not in use, and this liquid-filled compass offers reliable, precise readings, I fired up my compass app on my smartphone, and this compass is indeed very reliable, very accurate, and it also has a bezel with a direction-setting arrow as you can see there, so you can set that arrow as needed. And the loop on the front case allows your compass to be hung on key rings or lanyards. Let me just give you some overall measurements here. I'm gonna start by measuring the height, and I'm going to measure from the bottom of this loop to the end of this hinge, and we're sitting right at 3 1/4 inches tall, and then the width at the widest point is gonna be sitting right at 1 7/8 wide, the widest point, and then the overall thickness, we're gonna be sitting right at 7/8 of an inch.

And then when you open this up all the way, would be measuring, again, from the end of the loop to the end of this clip here that holds it close, I'll see if I can line this up here for you, we're gonna be sitting right at, we're gonna call it six inches when it's fully open, end to end. Now, I'm a big fan of this compass, I really like the brilliant LED light in there, and I like that it's very compact as well, but if you're looking for a compass and you don't need that light, but you're looking for some other feature, I would recommend taking a look at Coghlan's Pocket Compass with thermometer, and you can find that on our website using item number CG69RR.
