Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com where we're taking a quick look at the GSI Outdoors Escape HS Collapsible Pot. This is gonna be a 3-liter pot and it's gonna be really great for anybody who wants to have a camping kitchen but keep it very light and very compact. So the base and the lid are anodized aluminum to give you strength and good heat dissipation. It also is going to have the silicon sides so you can collapse it down and save that space. Something I like about this as well is that it's going to allow you to stash stuff inside. There's still some space in here that you can utilize so if you have the other escape accessories from GSI like this is one GSI Escape bowls.

You can fold this down and fit it in there and then have a little bit more storage space inside it so you're not missing out on that. You can nest stuff inside and make the most of the space. As far as the other features of this, as you can see in the lid there's a build in strainer so if you're making something like pasta you can use that to strain it out makes it pretty easy.

The bottom is also nice because it also has this heat sink, that's where the HS comes from, design so it's gonna be much more efficient design, heats up quickly, uses less fuel than a similar shape or capacity pot. So all in all just gonna be a really nice compact pot to have for any kind of kitchen. If you are an RV-er, it's just meant to be used with a camping stove so that's some thing to keep in mind. It's not really meant for cook tops and things like that. So that's just something to be aware of with this.

We'll take a little closer look and I'll talk about some of the specs and features with you guys. So to open it up it's pretty simple. Just wanna pull it all the way up and you wanna make sure that you wanna open it completely, you don't wanna have it halfway down because that's could end up damaging the silicon. So you don't wanna leave it like that. You want it to be all the way up.

Again the lid fits right over that and then you can clamp it on there so if you are straining something, it makes it pretty easy to keep that in place. Also a couple little pads on the sides to kind of act as the locks for those tabs but also give you a little bit of heat protection when you go to take this off. Course if its been sitting on the stove you wanna be careful, maybe use a handkerchief or bandana or something to pull that off rather than just your bear hand. The base on the inside is coated in Teflon so it is anodized aluminum. It is gonna have natural scratch and abrasion resistance. But that Teflon is also gonna keep stuff from sticking to it so it should be pretty easy to clean up. The only thing that you really can't do with this is any kind of frying, you don't really want the oil or anything to go past the metal portion. You don't want it to go on to that silicon so I can't really deep fry anything in this but any kind of other sauting, sweating, or any other method that you might use on your regular cook top should do just fine in this pot. Boiling water, all that kind of good stuff. As far as the size, again it is 3-liters. The height, I'll give you some measurements here. With the pot all the way expanded out, it's a little over five inches tall, and then if we push it all the way back down, just kind of tuck in those sides there. There we go. I'm gonna put the lid back on just to make sure that we're keeping it accurate. And now the height is just about two and a half inches. The width at the widest point which will be out to the handles is about 10 and a half inches. Without those handles, the dimeter is about nine inches, weighs about a pound and a quarter, is covered by a limited lifetime warranty from GSI Outdoors and all in all should make a great addition to your pack if you wanna save weight but still be able to cook in the great outdoors.
