Video Transcript for Performance Tool Tools - Vehicle Tools - PTW1605 Review

Male: Today we're going to be taking a look at part number PTW1605. This is the two ton floor jack with your jack stands from Performance Tool. The jack stands are going to feature ratchet columns for easy adjustment, they're going to be made from a steel construction with an enamel finish. You'll see here that the actual stand is a nice yellow color, then the ratchet columns are going to be white in color. Once you install the ratchet column, you'll want to bend this tab in that way the column cannot come all the way out. The tab would kind of engage this raised up portion right here and that would keep the column inside the jack stand.

Just a cautionary note, when you get these, go ahead and bend that tab in to keep that column from coming all the way out. Nice design, it's got the control lever right here, with it in the down position, it's engaged those teeth, making sure it's not going to drop. We can raise it up and we can move that freely as needed. Really nice design. With it fully retracted, from the ground to the top of the saddle, we're looking at about ten and three eighths of an inch. With it all the way extended, the max height from the ground to the saddle is going to be about sixteen and three eighths of an inch.

The saddles here on the jack stands, these are going to have usable space. Measuring the length first, about two and one quarter of an inch. Then a width measurement of about one inch. When it comes to the floor jack, these are going to have swivel casters right here on this end right here, the front ones are stationary, they're fixed. The back ones do swivel 360 degrees, that way it allows for easy positioning. The wheels are cast iron for strength and durability.

It does have a carrying handle for easier transportation. It does come with a crank handle, right here. The saddle diameter on the floor jack is going to measure about one and seven eighths of an inch. It's a really simple installation. I'm going to turn it around right here so you can see it a little better. If you are wanting to raise, you would take your handle, place it into that portion there.

Make sure the groves interlock, then you can just start cranking it up. You can see how it's raising that saddle on the other end. This is going to have a lift range of five and one eighth of an inch at the lowest, to thirteen inches at the highest. When you are ready to lower that down, simply remove your handle. Right here is going to be a release valve, you place your handle over that, turn it counter clockwise, and it's going to put the saddle back in it's lowest position. When it lowers all the way, simply just go ahead and tighten back up that release valve. Then you are ready to store it, or you are ready to start over and use it again. Really nice, seamless operation, very easy to use. Again the capacity on the floor jack itself is going to be 4000 pounds. Capacity on the jack stands are going to be 4000 pounds and that's when the jack stands are used as a pair. When it comes to the floor jack, overall length from front to back is going to be about seventeen and a half inches long. The width from outer edge right here to the same point on the other side is going to measure about seven and a half inches wide. When the handle is flipped over a little bit, from the floor to the top of the handle is going to be about six and three quarters of an inch tall. Again with your jack stands at the lowest height, ten and three eighths of an inch. All the way extended, max height is going to be sixteen and three eighths of an inch. The base, this is going to measure seven inches by six and three quarters of an inch, so they don't take up too much space. Again they are very easy to use. What you would do, you would go ahead and you would raise up your vehicle using the floor jack. You want to make sure the saddle is contacting an actual lift point on the frame of the vehicle or whatever it is that you are raising. Once you get that high enough, you just slide your jack stands under. You can adjust these to the appropriate height as needed. Then simply just lower the vehicle on the saddles as long as you are a hundred percent sure that the control levers are engaged in those ratchets for safe operation. It does come with some detailed instructions, those are going to help you out with how to use this system. Again with this part number, you are going to get the two ton floor jack and you're going to get the jack stands as well as the handle. It's an overall pretty nice design, pretty nice set up. That's going to do it for today's look at part number PTW1605.

Nice for the price.
When using the jack
to raise my mini-van, the jack would move a little because of the wheels on. Would be nice if way to mobilize the wheels when start raising the jack.

To lower the jack, need to use a flathead screwdriver to turn a component, that releases the hydraulic pressure. It takes awhile to get used to - first few times using, the release was too quick and minivan came down much more quickly than would have liked.

I've seen other jacks where lowering is much easier and simpler process than having to find a flathead screwdriver and ever so slightly turning a knob. But I imagine that comes at an extra cost.

There was some black cover on the jack that appears in the picture. When arrived it was bent and not fitting. I don't think it is an important piece, so not a big deal.

So, in the end, good product for the price. I don't jack things up too often, so good enough for me.

As always etrailer delivered again with a quality product. I bought a two ton floor jack from a local
Establishment that simply did not last even though
It had very little use and still looked new. I told my friend I am ordering a floor jack from etrailer because they have good stuff. Enough said!

  • Installation of the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Honda Odyssey Van
After watching our installation video and referring to the installation instruction for the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13068, it is not necessary to use a lift when installing this trailer hitch on a 2008 Honda Odyssey. However, raising the rear of the vehicle off the ground will make installation easier. I recommend using a hydraulic floor jack and jack stands on a flat surface when installing the hitch. The Performance Tool 2-Ton Floor Jack with Stands, # PTW1605, would work well...

  • Parts Needed to Jack Up Trailer to Replace Suspension Components
Jack stands supporting the frame in four places would be best way to get the trailer off the ground for what you are wanting to do. For jack stands we have the part # PTW1605 which comes with a floor jack and we also have a pair of just the jack stands with the part # PTW41021. I would recommend jacking up one side of the trailer and putting two jack stands on that side of the trailer and then going to the other side to do the same.

  • Will Using the 2 Ton Floor Jack Help Raise a Trailer to Free a Jack Caster Wheel From the Ground
It is possible to use the 2-Ton Floor Jack, # PTW1605, to help raise the your trailer tongue to free your jack caster wheel from the ground. Two things you would want to make sure you do before and while using the jack. First, find a 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick piece of plywood that will be big enough to sit the floor jack on while you are using the unit. The wood will provide for a strong base for the jack and will prevent the jack from sinking in to the ground when in use. Second, if it...

If you are okay with working in extremely close contact with the underside of your Crosstrek, you can install it while the car is on the ground. Most people will prefer to use some jack stands like # PTW41021 or the jack with stands # PTW1605 to give you a little more room especially because an extra set of hands is also helpful. • Can Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver Be Installed On 2018 Chrysler Pacifica With Using A Jack?
When the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98903 is installed on a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, there is typically only going to be around 12" of clearance from the receiver to the ground (see demonstration video). It may be possible, however, I do not recommend trying to install this receiver without the use of a lift or jack as that would not leave a lot of room to work with and it could be dangerous. You could use a kit such as 2-Ton Floor...

A bolt-on axle over-under kit like # K71-384-00 and # K71-385-00 will typically give your trailer between 4 and 5-inches of lift. The exact amount of lift depends on the axle diameter and the height of the leaf spring stack. Lift will be the sum of the axle diameter plus the height of the spring stack. Kit # K71-385-00 works for axles with 3-inch diameter Installing an axle over-under lift kit on a trailer is not a complex job but it does require the right safety equipment to avoid risk...

  • Can Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Set Be Used To Lift Cars
The Leveling Scissor Jack Set # JSC-30 should only be used to stabilize a trailer. These are not designed to lift and hold a car. Instead, I recommend using a floor jack with jack stands like # PTW1605. If you need a total of 4 jack stands you can add 2 more using # PTW41021.

As long as you're just jacking up one corner of your 2019 GMC Sierra 1500, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the # PTW1605 to complete this task. The Performance Tool 4,000 lb Aluminum Floor Jack with Stands jack has a 16-3/8" lift capacity that should be enough to get your tire up off the ground and changed.

  • Should Jack Stands be Used to Raise Trailer for Winter Storage
If you raise your trailer for storage during the winter months then you want to place the jacks stands just in front of the front leaf spring hanger. The 2-Ton Floor Jack with Stands # PTW1605 would be a great option to do this. To keep your trailer level you may also need to use some blocks under the front jack. You could use more jack stands if you'd like (the more the merrier kind of philosophy) but you don't have to if these jack stands and your A-Frame jack are capable of holding...

  • Recommended Jack Stands For Long-Term Trailer Storage To Protect Tires
The best way to preserve your tires is to put the trailer up on jack stands, partially deflate the tires and protect them from UV rays which shouldn't be an issue in garage storage. As a general rule of thumb, trailer tires should be replaced every 6 to 8 years regardless of wear. Even though an older tire might appear to have plenty of tread left on it, dry rot and cracking can cause tire failure. You mentioned age not being the issue, so the only cause of separation is misuse or manufacturer...

  • Replacing Brake Assemblies and Drums on a 2000 Interstate Cargo Trailer
Self-adjusting brakes do work, but they will need to be adjusted when first installed. After the initial installation you will not need to do yearly adjustments. According to the Interstate Cargo Trailer Manual, you should have two 3500 lb axles, 15" wheels and your hubs should have a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2". Based on that information, I recommend brake assembly kit # AKEBRK-35-SA and the hub and drum assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. Prior to ordering, please double-check that your bearing...

  • Floor Jack to Change Wheel/Tire of 5,000 lb Trailer
A 3,000 lb jack would be able to lift a 5,000 lb trailer since the jack would basically only be lifting half of the trailer weight since the other half is supported by the wheel on the other side. I think bare minimum you'd need a 2,500 lb jack though. That said going with a higher rated jack like the # PTW1605 which has a 4,000 lb capacity would be a really great choice as that just means that jacking up the trailer will be an easier job for you and this kit comes with jack stands which...

Using a lift does make installation much easier, but it is not necessary when installing the Draw-Tite Hitch # 76170 on your 2018 Honda Odyssey. Although it is not required, I recommend using a floor jack when installing this hitch.
