Installation of the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Honda Odyssey Van
Question:
Hi, I have a 2008 Honda Odyssey. If I do not have access to a lift can I still install the hitch with my vehicle on the ground or do I have to lift the rear of the vehicle up so that I can slide the passenger side plate of the hitch over the exhaust or if the vehicle is flat on the ground will there be enough clearance to slide the plate over the exhaust?

After watching our installation video and referring to the installation instruction for the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13068, it is not necessary to use a lift when installing this trailer hitch on a 2008 Honda Odyssey. However, raising the rear of the vehicle off the ground will make installation easier.
I recommend using a hydraulic floor jack and jack stands on a flat surface when installing the hitch. The Performance Tool 2-Ton Floor Jack with Stands, # PTW1605, would work well with your vehicle. Before using this jack or any jack make sure that you read the owner's manual and understand all safety procedures when using jacks and jack stands.
