Youll want to review the installation instructions to ensure that the crossbars have been installed in the correct location in the door opening. If they are not installed in the correct spot, water intrusion and wind noise can certainly occur.

This is a replacement for a Q-tower. Looks good, have yet to swap it out. Shipping was fast.718605

Product works perfectly and seems like a never used open box item. That or the Yakima original packaging is very basic, because the tower can in a simple clear plastic bag (which is fine by me). Slowest shipping option was still fairly quick. Also love that they provide the current stage of packing/shipping for your order. Would recommend! Rack setup looks great850403

For my canoe, I needed a combination of the Yakima Q Towers and Skyline Towers to attach racks to my Chevy Silverado crew cab with a topper. Local stores only carried two sets of each. Saved money purchasing just two Q Towers. Arrived on the date promised. 296872

These Q towers slipped nicely onto my existing Yakima bars that came from the older Railrunner 1 system that was designed to mount on an existing factory luggage rack. I was able to locate my old gold key to transfer the Yakima locks to these Q towers. The older locks still work great after ten years. 44782

I bought several 'universal' roof racks for my Malibu Maxx. None of them worked like they said they would; big waste of money. This Yakima roof rack is very expensive, but at least it actually fits onto my car, like I wanted!522777

A bit fiddly to get installed with the bars and have things centered up properly on my 20014 VW R32 initially. You will likely want a second set of hands to help. Once all setup and installed with the round bars the first time, it is much simpler to remove and install the bar / tower combination to the vehicle.462352

These towers replaced original Yakima towers. The two issues with the old design were: 1) you could easily strip the hex head that tightens the tower to the bar, as you were too only quarter turn the head in order to drive the biting surface into the bar. 2) If you ever lost the plastic foot or either of the two side plastic pieces, you could not get replacements for them. To replace the minimum parts from a working setup, this tower is what you need. The tower should come with the jaw, bolt and nut that are the essential changes in the design that addressed the first issue of the original part.

I ended up having to order another replacement set while trying to put the second bar back on. I didn't order this from etrailer, and when one tower came without the critical jaw and nut I asked them to send these parts. They claimed these are not apart of the naked tower. I called Yakima and they confirmed that they are supposed to come with the naked tower. The clam cam and its pin bolt and cup are the parts not included with the naked tower. Yakima sent me replacement parts free of charge or shipping charge.

My bad for not going with etrailer for both orders. And great job Yakima for supporting your customers.310238

The rack fits but the measurements they give you for 2016 smart car aren’t right . After about an hour I figured it out . The rack is very noisy at speeds of 65 miles an hour and above.470542

I ordered a Yakima Roof Rack for my Toyota Prius from etrailer.com. Part of the reason for purchasing from etrailer.com was the promise that the racks were made specifically for the car and would not dent the roof.

I received the rack on July 31, and installed the racks on my Prius according to instructions included with the racks. Our tandem kayak is 65 lbs . The towers were placed on the outer most part of the roof as indicated by the instructions. Yakima saddles were attached to the crossbars to hold the kayak. Nothing was close or touching the top of the roof. We transported the kayak to a nearby lake, 6 miles, and back. The next day we removed the racks from the roof and noticed 4 dents on the top of the roof. It was obvious that transporting the kayak on the rack caused the dents.

We had to pay $100 to have the dents removed from the Prius roof.

I cannot continue to use this rack that puts dents in the car's roof. I was extremely disappointed in the racks. In reading the Toyota manual and contacting them by phone, there is no mention of using or not using roof racks.

I was shocked to learn from Rachel at eTrailer.com that your company takes absolutely no responsibility for this Yakima product they sell. The best they can do is to pass the buck and refer us to Yakima.

Very disappointed, and out a lot of money for a product that damages your car. Will not recommend or buy here again. eTrailer.com does not even deserve one star in this review.421461

Used on a Land Rover Sport. Severe whistling wind noise at 30-40 mph speed makes the units unusable. Tried to get help from etrailer support staff, without success. Purchased additional rubber rails for cross bars to block air flow into the Yakima towers without success.

Told by etrailer support staff that these are for commercial use only and not made to be quiet (which is not listed anywhere in the item description). NOT recommended unless you love wind noise. Poor follow up support from etrailer - very disappointed with the entire experience.582131

I've just installed the rack on our Tacoma. I ordered a single unit to mount near the windshield. When used with another rack (this one home made) on the back of the box we'll have a very steady way to transport long canoes and kayaks.496134

After waiting for the Yakima company to get my parts delivered to etrailer ,
I am pleased to let you know I am very happy with the product.
I had previously purchased the steel poles from Yakima, which I used on my pop up camper. Not having the camper , I needed these to carry my kayaks.
I can now carry my 10’ kayak and my 14’ kayak . Have traveled on an expressway with them loaded on top of my 2013 Chevy Silverado, with no issues.

Well after using the yak spec sheet i found the best thing to do with it is roll it up in a ball and throw it away.
The best way to position these towers on the tubes is run the tube through the tower position the tower where you want it and LOCK IT DOWN following yaks instructions made for a lot of unnecessary farting around.460436
