  I have a solution for you but the Thule Rapid Traverse foot # 7522249001 you've got mounts to the vehicle with vehicle specific fit kit pieces; it looks like the fit kit is damaged and there is not a fit kit for the 2003 Toyota Matrix since it has raised side rails. The good news is that you can continue to use the Thule Aero style bars you got but you will need different feet. The feet that are compatible with your aero bars and your Matrix are the Evo Raised Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars...

  You are going to need a new foot. There isn't a repair kit available. For a single Thule Rapid Traverse foot use # 7522249001. I recommend inspecting all of the other feet and fit kit parts to see if anything else is in need of replacing.

  I reached out to my contact at Thule and she said there's not really a trick to getting the tightening screw back into place on your Rapid Traverse Foot. If it's not threading in there's likely an issue inside the foot that would require a full replacement. Just the tightening bolt isn't available as a separate part, although the bolt itself likely isn't the problem. You can replace a single foot with the part # 7522249001, which will include everything you need.

  If you are looking to get a set of 4 of the Rapid Traverse feet you would want to order the part # TH480R as it comes with the T-wrenches needed to install the feet.
