Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today I'll be showing you how to replace the locking spring pin on your Yakima OnRamp bike rack right here at etrailer. There are two pins on your Yakima OnRamp bike rack. One is the secondary pull pin that you have to pull out for it to tilt down, and the other one is the locking spring pin which stays on your rack. So if it's a locking spring pin that needs replacement this is the video for you. You are going to need a 24 millimeter wrench, preferably a crescent wrench style which will make it easier for you to loosen that pin.
While it looks like the pin is round there are actually two flat edges. So have your wrench find those flat edges and that's what you will use to rotate the pins. We're gonna loosen this and there's limited range, so be patient. So after some threads, you're then going to remove the pin, and this is when you can see if maybe there's gunk in there if you cross threaded it or this one looks really good just needs some cleaning. Now get your replacement spring pin and it might look different for you.
So some colors might change like this might be a lighter gray, this might be a lighter gray as well, but they're all gonna work the same. If you want, you can also clean out the threads of the rack and then re-lubricate them before putting that pin back in. And once that is tightened down, you can just double check that your spring pin still works as it's supposed to, and that's it for the install and replacement. So when you're taking your bikes and your biker racks off road or on adventures, wear and tear happens, and it's nice to know that no matter what happens you can find the exact replacement part here at etrailer. So whether you need a secondary pull pin, or some wheel straps, or even a replacement wheel assembly, you can find them here especially on our related parts on our product pages.
But this was a look at the replacement locking spring pin for your Yakima OnRamp bike racks.
