Today we're going to be taking a look at the Valterra bug screen for the Suburban DD Series RV furnace vents. Pretty easy to install. It's made from a heavy duty stainless steel construction and it's going to help keep out unwanted pests. It allows for plenty of airflow. It's going to come with one screen, one installation tool, and two spring fasteners. Over all dimensions, just measuring the diameter, it's going to be about six and one eighth of an inch. Now, it's a good idea to always inspect your screens monthly and clean when necessary to maintain proper airflow.
When you are ready to install this, you want to position the screen over the vent and determine the best locations to attach the springs. Now, on the spring one end is open, the other end has a cross bar on it. The cross bar is simply the connection point for the tool. The tool has a slotted end and it connects to that cross bar that way when you're ready to stretch the spring and connect it, you can easily do so. But, basically the open end of the spring connects to the screen.
The crossbar end connects to the vent. When you're ready to install, go ahead and connect the springs to the screen. Place the screen back over the vent. The hook should engage three wires on the screen and then, simply use the included tool to reach through the screen, grab the crossbar on the spring and stretch the spring to easily hook onto the furnace vent.
