Have owned these ratchet straps in the past. Purchased another set for another vehicle. These are fabulous.

Thank you etrailer for another great transaction and customer service.

I just received my ratcheting Kayak tie towns to replace my old friction-based setup. They arrived very quickly and for the best price online.
Having borrowed a friend's tie-downs in the past, I decided it was time for my own. I'm happy to report that they are very well made and a cinch to assemble using the provided diagram.
To use, just attach the hook to your car's underside tow loop or other sturdy location. Then pass the provided nylon web loop through your kayak's locking U-bolt (or carry toggle), and join both ends to the provided carabiner. Draw the rope tight and tie off the remaining length and you're good to go!
It's actually faster than reading this review!

everything was perfect as usual.

by:

pretty good ratchet. My only complain is that the clip (part connected to the black case) is small. So if you try to clip it onto a larger clip, its does not make a very big opening. Anyways, good part. Very solid construction, metal. Mine has taken a serious beating and still going strong. Rope very good quality. Does not fray.

Ratchet very good, several trips, rope stuck under front tire, did not break ratchet. Solid

Needed to replace Thule tie downs prior to a Kayaking trip, as those I have had for many years were in bad shape. Several others I paddle with had same situation so I bought several sets. fast delivery was important and etrailer got them to me fast.
Thule products are high quality, nothing more to be said!

by:

Good quality product. My only recommendation would be to add about 1 ft of a rubber covering at the bottom of the ropes, near the hook. This would ensure that bumpers do not fray or sever the rope when the load is strapped down.

by:

Great to work with. I was away from home and wanted my order delivered to the address I was at.
I failed to enter the correct address when I placed the order. On the day of delivery I phoned Etrailer to let them know of my mistake. They notified UPS for me and I received the package that afternoon.
The product was exactly what I was looking for.

by:

These ropes work great and are so easy to use. I had one set for my canoe and ordered these for the kayak. We'll bring both boats on our vacation. The ordering and help from etrailer went smoothly.

by:

The service was excellent. My interaction with your team was accurate, friendly and professional. Given COVID-impacted potential in order processing, Christina tracked my order and followed up in a professional, accurate and friendly manor.

I have received my product and look forward to making good use of it, for years to come. I would not hesitate to order from your service again.

by:

This was my 3rd order from etrailer this month. The videos were extremely helpful and all the Thule products arroived when I was told they would and were exactly as described. I have been very impressed with they customer service and their follow up process post-order to make sure you are happy. Will definitely order from them again!

by:

Exactly what I ordered. Thank you!

by:

by:

by:

by:

by:

Much

Thule stuff just plain seems to be well made. These arrived quickly and are just what we needed.

  • Weight Capacity and Rope Size for Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes # TH855XT
The Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes # TH855XT are specifically for tying down canoes, kayaks, and other watersport items where typically weight is not an issue. The capacity though is 150 pounds with 1/4 inch rope. I checked specifically with the instructions on the Thule site.

  • Is It Necessary To Have Bow And Stern Lines To Transport Kayaks On My Roof Rack?
I recommend using one line for both kayaks, but use one for the bow and one for the stern. Though you may not see it necessary, some states and cities do require that your roof cargo is secured in such a manner. If you're needing some tie down rope, you can use the: -Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes w/ Ratchets and Strap Loops # TH855XT. This kit includes 2 polypropylene ropes, 2 ratchet pulley assemblies, 2 carabiners, 2 S-hooks, 2 strap loops, and the rope(s) that measure 13' long.

The # 8522883001 that you referenced is a replacement part for the Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes # TH855XT which has 13 foot long ropes. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out as well.

  • Will Thule Stacker Fit 2008 Toyota Highlander with Factory Crossbars to Carry 3 Kayaks
Yes, the Thule Stacker part # TH830 is a confirmed fit for the factory crossbars of your 2008 Toyota Highlander and would be a great option for carrying your 3 kayaks. Additional straps will be needed as this only comes with enough straps for two kayaks. So you'd also want the Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes # TH855XT to go with it.

  • Does Thule Stacker Work With 2015 Honda CR-V With Thule Roof Rack
I double checked with Thule, and the Thule The Stacker - Rooftop Multi-Kayak Carrier # TH830 is listed as a fit for your 2015 Honda CR-V with a Thule roof rack so you can use it. This comes with straps a single kayak so to carry added kayaks I recommend the Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes with Ratchets and Strap Loops # TH855XT. I have added links to video reviews of the tie-downs and the Thule The Stacker - Rooftop Multi-Kayak Carrier # TH830.

  • Recommended Kayak Carrier for TracRac Crossbars
I do have a solution for you, however the kayak saddles you mentioned are no longer available from the manufacturer. Because of the larger size of the TracRac crossbars, we have found that the best solution for transporting kayaks is with the Thule Surf Pad # TH845000. These will wrap around the bars to protect the kayaks during transport. You can then just add a set of Tie-Downs # TH855XT to secure everything into place. I have attached a couple short video demonstrations on this system...

  • Extra Strap Recommendation for Thule Stacker Kayak Carrier for Carrying 3 Kayaks
You'll want the Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes # TH855XT for additional straps with the Thule Stacker part # TH830. You'll want two sets of these since you have three kayaks and the Stacker comes with straps for one kayak. I attached a review video for this strap kit for you to check out as well.

  • What Surfboard Pads fit My Thule TracRac TracONE Crossbars?
Yes! The only surfboard pads we have for your TracONE ladder rack with 4" x 1-1/2" crossbars is the Thule SUP and Surfboard Pads # TH845000. The strechable material allows the pads to expand to fit the bars. I went ahead and attached a picture of a neighbor review who used the pads on his TracONE ladder rack with the same crossbars dimensions. If you need straps/ties to secure your surfboard, that is the Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes w/ Ratchets and Strap Loops - 13' - Qty 2 # TH855XT.

  • Recommend Kayak Front Tie Down For 2007 Toyota Tacoma
I have a solution for the front of your 2007 Tacoma to hold your kayak. Checkout the Thule Cargo Tie Downs, part # TH529, which screw underneath the hood of your truck. If you do not already have a tie down system for your kayak, you will want to use the Thule Quick Draw Ratchet-Rope Tie Down, part # TH855XT.

  • How are Kayak Bow and Stern Tie-Down Straps Used?
Those are bow and stern tie-down straps. They are necessary for tying your kayak down so it doesn't fly off your vehicle's roof. Tie-down straps like these are required in order to transport a kayak and come with many Thule products, including the Hullavator # TH898. I have added a link to a video showing you exactly how they work so you can keep your kayak safely secured to your Volvo.

  • Additional Strap Recommendation for Carrying 3 Kayaks with Thule Stacker # TH830
The Thule Stacker part # TH830 does fit the factory crossbars of your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon and will work great to carry 3 10-foot long kayaks. You'd need two additional sets of the Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes w/ Ratchets and Strap Loops # TH855XT since the Stacker only comes with one set. Anything on the roof of a vehicle is going to add wind noise. Three kayaks will make a noticeable amount of noise regardless of how you carry them.

  • Thule Kayak Carrier Compatibility with Rhino-Rack Vortex 2500 Crossbars
The 815 part number is for a basic version of the Hull-A-Port # TH834 kayak carrier sold by some lesser retail outlets. The Hull-A-Port carrier fits on round, square, elliptical, aero and most factory crossbars. Rhino-Rack Vortex 2500 bars are the aero type but are not compatible. Kayak carriers like this Thule include the required tie-down straps to secure the bow and stern ends for safe transport. If you need tie downs you can use Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes # TH855XT.

The Lockrack carrier includes the T-bolt hardware you'll use to install it on your Thule rack. The Lockrack also comes with wrap-round clamp type mounting hardware for other roof rack bars. • Will a 12 Foot Aluminum Boat Fit on Erickson Ladder Rack # EM07706
It is likely that your 12 foot aluminum boat will fit between the load stops on the Erickson ladder rack # EM07706. The crossbars on this rack are 78 inches long and you could mount the load stops on the outside of the ladder rack uprights for even more adjustability. • Are J-Style Kayak Carriers Compatible With The TracRac RacOne System?
I do have a solution for you, however I spoke with my contact at Thule (who manufactures the TracRac systems) and he stated that J-Style Kayak carriers are not compatible with the TracOne Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TA27000B that you referenced in your question. This is because the crossbars on the ladder rack are simply too wide for the J-Style carriers to mount properly. I instead recommend looking at the Thule Surf Pad # TH845000 to protect and support your kayaks on the ladder rack. This...

  • Can a Kayak Carrier be Used on TracRac Ladder Rack Crossbars
The TracRac ladder rack crossbars are too large for kayak carriers but I have a solution for you. You can use the Thule Surf Pads # TH845000 to protect the hull of the kayak. These pads will fit the old Thule Xsporter bars which are similar in shape and size to the TracRac bars. You would then just need bow and stern tie downs to secure the kayak to the TracRac bars, # TH855XT.

  • Will Thule Kayak Carrier The Stacker Fit a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Factory Roof Rack
On your 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with factory roof rack and crossbars that run side to side, the Thule Stacker, # TH830, is listed as a fit. Since this carrier will hold the kayaks on their sides and holds them in place with straps at the bars and for the bow/stern, the different designs of kayaks that you have will not be a problem. You could possibly put three kayaks using J-style carriers on your 2010 Toyota Corolla roof rack but it would be a tight fit. I recommend using a different type of carrier such as the Stacker, # TH830. This will allow you to hold the kayaks up on their sides which means you are maximizing the useable space on the crossbars. It will also be lighter than using 3 J-style carriers. Weight is another important factor. You will need to check the vehicle owners manual or with Toyota to determine...

What that means is that the combined weight of everything loaded on the roof rack cannot exceed 200 pounds. If you do not already have kayaks then keep this number in mind.
