Accidents happen, if you roll a bike back too far in the carrier tray, it can loosen the rear end cap, and then it dislodges on the road and you need a new one.

This cap is easy to install, and it's a perfect fit for some OEM accessory carriers, like the "Subaru Thule Bike Carrier Roof Mounted" Part Number:

It was fantastic that etrailer.com has a piece-part replacement for my Thule side-arm bike rack. I checked at two of my local brick-and-mortar rack supply stores, and since they didn't have the part in stock, both stores actually recommend that I order from etrailer.com. 549456

After reading some other reviews, I added a glob of silicone adhesive caulk to the inside clip area to reduce the chances of these falling off again.

Worked great to resuscitate a 10-year old rack that was rusting out.1529683

These endcaps dress up the wheel tray very nicely. They have a tendency to fall off especially in very cold weather. So it is nice to have a couple of them around as replacement parts. Without the caps, the trays look a little "unfinished".63837

I put my mountain bike on the rack and some times the tire unclips these end caps off. Should have been a better design then this. Hence why I had to replace them 850098

The endcap is necessary to keep the rear wheel strap falling of the Thule. Unfortunately it is only snapped in place and can easily be taken off or fall off hence the reason to replace it. 188675
