Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at Etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at our replacement part, which is the Thule M6 low hand knob for your Thule roof mounted carriers here at Etrailer. So this is a direct replacement knob for your Thule roof mounted carriers. And like what we have here is we have a kayak carrier, which is the Thule stacker, and you can see how we're using a knob for both the carrier itself, as well as the clamps used to clamp down the carrier. So if one of them gets lost, damaged, or is broken, this is what you would get to replace them.
This fits right onto your M6 carriage bolt, kind of like what we have right here. So if you don't have an M6 carriage bolt, this will not thread onto it and make sure that's what you're using to clamp down your roof mounted carriers. All you need to do is just pin it around the bolt. And that's pretty much all there is to installing this replacement knob. Now the thing about this wing nut is that the thread is kind of deep on the inside.
There is some space that you have to clear before it threads onto your bolt. So just to make sure that if you're using this to replace something lost, and you're not sure which bolt you need, or which replacement part you need, make sure you have enough thread on that bolt for this to fit onto. So from my experience of working with Thule roof mounted carriers is I definitely recommend picking up a couple of these as you get your accessory, just because it is really easy to lose these nuts because of once you do release them, I've dropped them several times onto our floor or on the roof of a vehicle. So just because of that, this is a great piece to have around as a replacement part for if you do lose, break or damage, your current knob that is on your roof mounted accessory. Again, this is designed for Thule roof mounted accessories.
This may or may not fit whatever other accessory you have, but as long as it has an M6 pattern on that fault, it probably will fit. This is an exact OM replacement part that was easy to find on etrailer.com. Although it is a part that needs to be replaced every few years it is hard to locate even on the Thule site. Price and shipping were good and the parts (I ordered extras) arrived as promised. I will definitely recommend this company and will return for rack or trailer parts.

I would order these again if I need replacements in the future
Lost a knob on my Thule kayak rack - left racks on too long without checking tightness - my bad. Hunted for replacement and some spares. Googled around a bit and landed here - useful description and good price. Knobs fit like OEM equipment (which they well may be) and have served well over the past year. All good, zero complaints. Just a remineder, if you are going to keep your rack on all summer, tighten your knobs once a week!
Quick easy replacement parts for Thule racks. Wish the plastic didn’t degrade so fast.

I have an old Thule bike rack and the plastic hand knobs were starting to break off of the stay bolts. The knew knobs have a threaded steel insert that hold the bolt better. I had to buy new bolts that were threaded all the way to the cap. Much stronger than the original ptoduct. I used 80 mm M6×1.0 stainless steel bolts and a little thread locker to keep the hand knob from loosening on the bolt. Thule makes M6 and M8 hand knobs, so make sure to size the one you have. The hand knobs were easy to find at etrailer with a good description and fast shipping.
This is the first survey in a long time, in which I am eager to provide a review! This was such a small order for Thule parts needed for one of our kayak racks. I'm amazed that there was no minimum required. The parts came sooner than expected, and have allowed for us to have a rack system that is as good as new.

This is a perfect replacement part. As a matter of fact K just returned from a 1,700 mile trip with my tandem kayak attached to mu cargo rack with these wing nuts. They did not loosen one bit. Everything was as tight as the day I put it on.

Initially etrailer.com sent the wrong part, mistakenly sending the M8 instead of the M6. Once contacted they sent the proper part and didn't require me to return the original piece, which I appreciated. My only complaint was that the original shipping was very delayed due to low staffing, then there was the product error and as a result we were unable to use our kayak racks and were forced to rent kayaks because ours were sitting unused in the garage due to the delayed shipping and wrong products. So, these couple of inconveniences ended up being rather costly for us. That said, etrailer.com did do the right thing by us, it just took a while.
My order was a tiny one, just four replacement nuts for my cartop bike rack (a famous 'nordic' brand). I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the order shipped, I think I ordered on Tuesday and had a package in my mailbox by the weekend. Quality is excellent, I literally can't tell the new nuts from the original gear. Fine - no issues. When I installed the wing knobs I added a little glue glob to keep from losing them on the road again I originally lost them as a result of vibration and wind -they loosened up
