Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at Etrailer. And today we are looking at the Replacement Anti Cradle Set for your Hollywood Racks bike rack here at Etrailer. Some reasons why you would need this anti-sway cradle set is maybe you have your bike rack and you've had it for a couple of years. It's been sitting out in the sun. What does tend to happen is that your especially your straps can get a little brittle. Or not as elastic for your bikes and you find it doesn't have the same experience as before.

It's a very quick and easy process just to replace them. To make sure you are secure on the road. This comes with a replacement anti-sway cradle three straps, as well as a standard cradle. And this fits an inch and a quarter diameter arms. So Hollywood Racks uses two different sizes for their bike racks.

They have an inch diameter arm and an inch and a quarter. So please check which size you have on your bike rack and choose the correct replacement part. This set has enough to replace one pair or set of cradles and straps. So if you have a four bike, bike rack like what we have here you would need four of these kits to replace all of it. These come with straps, are eight inches and a half long.

And the straps themselves are really nice, strong rubber which means that they will stretch just enough to wrap around your bike but they are sturdy enough to keep it secured. The cradles themselves are a perfect fit for Hollywood Racks bike racks. But I do know that some people use it on bike racks of other brands. So as long as it has an inch and a quarter diameter it's gonna fit. As for installing them.

Now, it was kind of a tricky process because it is a larger arm. It did take a little bit of force and I did use a rubber mallet in some areas just to get them into position. So keep that in mind as you install your replacement cradles. So let's take a look at that process. To replace your cradle, what you first need to do is take off the end cap off of your bike rack. You're gonna need a Phillips head screwdriver and just pop that off once that screws out and then rotate this cradle out and then put the new one in and just push it back into place. And now this is a really difficult process because the inch and a quarter's a little bit larger. So I recommend using warm, soapy water and that will help lubricate the arms to make it slide easier. The exact same process for the standard cradle. And once you have your cradles in you can then put the straps into the knobs. They fit the large hole right into one side of the knob and then use any hole you want for the second knob. And once all is in place you can then put your end caps back on. Take off the screw underneath and pop that off. From there you can then slide on well off, your old cradle and then slide your new one right in. Now, keep working at that cradle and trying to get it back onto the arm. You may need to rotate it as well as use some soap or some sanitizer before you have it on there. But once you do, you can then put your placement strap onto the knobs of the cradle. And once it's on there, that's it for the install after you put the end cap back on. My final thoughts about this replacement cradle set is I really do like how it has everything you need to replace your cradles. Again if you have other needs, like just the straps you can find a strap only kit or a standard cradle plus strap only kit. This comes with the anti-sway. Which I like since it does reduce that sway of your bikes on the road and keeps you safe. The install process was okay. You didn't need any tools, but a little extra arm strength.
