Hey, there Swagman owners. Today we're going to be taking a look at the replacement and grip arms for your Swagman XC or XTC series bike racks. They are available as just the short arm, if you're missing that, and just the long arm, if you're missing that, or you can get them as a pair if you're missing both arms. Now, the original arms on your Swagman bike racks are designed to be removable, which is convenient when loading your bikes, it's way easier, in my opinion, to take it off and have it out of the way when loading your bikes, but it creates a unique problem that other bike racks don't have wherein these are losable. You can take them off and leave them at the trail head or forget them at the park and then you're out of luck.If you've driven off without them or you've taken them off and misplaced them, you don't have to get a whole new bike rack. You can buy these replacement arms.
They're going to be identical replacements for your existing arms and they are going to work exactly the same. They've got the spring action lever here that's going to allow it to ratchet down into place one arm after the next. And they maintain all the same features as your previous ones, including the ability to pass a padlock through and lock them and the ratcheting mechanism so you can get a nice tight grip on your bike.So, whether you've lost them or you've had your bike rack for a significant amount of time and these are just getting rusty and hard to use, this is just a real easy solution for getting your bike rack back in working order so you can get back out there and enjoy hitting the trails. Bought a second hand bike rack which was missing the top ratchet hook and hitch bolt. Delivered quickly and with no issues.
Parts came super quick and a cheap price, I have gotten one set of these before for a diy bike rack I'm building and now that the prototype works I will weld in a bracket and needed a second set for another bike
The part was exactly same as original. Ordering and receiving from etrailer.com was fast and easy. I will always us them for future needs.
I have the original long and short that came with my Swagman bike carrier. But my bike has cables exposed on top the top tube, so I need to support it on the down tube. With the long and short the brackets interfered when hauling 2 bike, so having 2 short brackets fixed the problem.
This was an exact replacement for the one that went missing. Overall, the bike carrier is a pretty good deal for the price. I like that it completely folds down and allows me to open the tailgate on my truck.
Part came sooner than expected, was an exact replacement (maybe better than original!)
Order took a long time to complete but it was not e trailer fault. They kept me informed until the order was delivered

One year later and 5000 miles of travel the rack works flawlessly. Keeps bikes secure, no movement, easy to mount both the rack and the bikes. E-trailer has the best prices and service i have experienced so far.
I bought this short arm because I needed two short ones to carry our bikes. I bought the bike rack over a year ago and have used is at least twice a week. Great carrier. Since purchasing an e-bike that is much heavier, I have purchased a rack with a ramp, since I can no longer lift the e-bike on to the Swagman.
I purchased a replacement Short, Ratcheting Grip Arm for Swagman XC2 Bike Carrier - P187. I I lost the original in a long distance move and was pleased that etrailer offer the replacement. I chose the regular shipping package which took almost 5 or 6 days to deliver to my home in New England. I was very pleased with the service and the website which guided me quickly to my desired part.

Great
Had to send for replacement since I must of left original on bumper and drove off . Arrived quickly . My only complaint with this item is it sometimes is hard for me to squeeze the red release to get it to move . A friend has same unit with a different release .....more like a faucet knob. Would of liked that one better. Otherwise it’s all a great bike rack and easy for me to use on my own as a 65yr old woman.
I was concerned when this product arrived since the part I was replacing first went straight up and then over for the hook. This one angles over to the hook immediately. The end result is that the hook is located in the same place. The good news is that this design is less likely to run against the bike frame where it isn't padded. I couldn't be more pleased

One year later and I have no complaints. It works as well as the day it arrived.
I greatly appreciate that etrailer.com continues to stock a complete line of Swagman bike rack parts. My current rack is over 12 years old, but thanks to you folks, I can keep it in good repair.
The replacement part I got is actually built better and looks better than the original part! The replacement came in black not gray, which I like better since the bike rack is black! Although now I'll have to order the other arm to make them match!
etrailer was very prompt in their shipping and constantly emailed updates on the status of my order!

This was direct replacement for component that failed in the bend of the bar where it welds to ratchet mechanism. It seems to have a slightly different bend angle, but so far has worked well for about 7000 miles on my motorhome.
Product worked perfectly as advertised as a replacement tie-down arm for my bike rack, saving me from having to buy a whole new rack. Shipping was a little slow, but otherwise all the interactions with etrailer.com were great.
The replacement parts for my bike carrier were perfect. Great products that matched the original perfectly. I had them installed in minutes. The two parts that were being replaced were broken off during a RV trip to Canada and Alaska. Now my bike carrier is usable again.
I ordered this for my Swagman XTC 4-bike rack, after (some unnamed person in my family) left one of the hooks somewhere. As noted in the Q&A, the hook works with the rack, but it is not the gray one shown, it is a black hook with a slightly different configuration made for a different rack. However, the ratchet fits fine, so it makes an economical replacement rather than buying the twin pack that looks the same as the hooks for the XTC. Thanks for the fast shipping from etrailer! Very nice transaction.
