Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this replacement latch kit for the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series fifth wheel tailgate with the open design on the Ford trucks. Now, I did wanna pop up an insert just to show you what the tailgate looks like that these will work on, but this kit here will replace two lost or damaged latches from your 100 Series fifth wheel tailgate from the Stromberg Carlson. It is designed to fit the open design fifth wheel tailgate that fits on Ford trucks, and those tailgates we do sell separate on a website. They go by part number VG-97-100 and VG-04-100. This kit here will include everything laid out here on the table.
It includes these two latches with the hardware to install them. Comes with these rings that will replace the cotter pins on there. Comes with the two rubber C channel bumpers that'll go in here. Comes with a short pivot tube insert, a long pivot tube insert, and then a black bushing here with a slot in it that goes on the driver's side of the pivot tube. And it comes with a nice set of instructions that'll describe how these parts all go together.
Basically, these bushing and pivot inserts I'm mentioning, this will help keep the tailgate centered and properly aligned for opening and closing. The black bushing right here has a slot on it, and that's designed to go on the driver's side, pivot to the tailgate, and over here you have a short or a long pivot tube insert, which is for the passenger side, and you use the short or long depending on the year, make, and model of your vehicle. Now, these parts are made in the USA. But that should do it for the review on the replacement latch kit for the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series fifth wheel tailgate with the open design on the Ford trucks.

A quick call to customer service resulted in this part kit. I retrofitted the tailgate, and I'm on my way with the fifth wheel. Excellent service as ways! Thanks.

I have an off-brand 5th wheel tailgate, but this latch assembly worked perfectly for me anyway!
Good - just glad replacement parts were available!!
However, could be better if the latches were made of steel instead of "white metal"(?). But that's the manufacturers' (Stromberg) issue - would also be better if latches ONLY were available instead of purchasing an entire kit with all the hardware!
