Video Transcript for Roadmaster Tow Bars Inner Arm Replacement Review

Hey, everybody Clayton here at etrailer.com. Here at etrailer we install, test, and review a lot of different products to help you guys as the customers to make a more educated decision before your purchase. Today, we're going to be taking a look at, and I'll be showing you how to install, the replacement inner arm for a Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar. It's possible that your tow bar was damaged in a collision, or maybe accidentally dropped it and the arm just isn't working properly. We're not going to have to replace that entire tow bar, we can simply replace one arm. This is going to be a whole lot more affordable just to replace one component versus the entire thing.

We're going to start by grabbing a flat bladed screwdriver, just prying out on our end cap, you'll just do this for whichever arm you are going to be replacing. We're now going to move to the end of our arm and we're going to be removing our collar. You need to grab a quarter inch Allen Key and a 9/16ths socket, and then we'll start removing these. And if your collar is damaged, we do sell these here at etrailer as well. I just want to get this nut off of here.

We're going to lift up on our collar, put our hand underneath to catch those washers, just like so, and we can remove the entire thing. Now we just want to unthread the end off of our tow bar arm. And you'll be able to do this by hand, and set this off to the side and we can take that arm and just push it out the end of our tow bar. And you might have to tilt your arm up to help get this piece out. We can just slide that arm out of the back.

And if your arm is bent pretty bad, and it's not wanting to come out freely, you can grab a long screwdriver or anything like that and the hammer that out through the top. Now that we have our new arm. We're ready to install it. We want to insert this tab facing our RV. We're just going to slide this back up into our arm.

Again, you might have to kind of move this around just to get the best angle to help you get this inserted. When you're sliding the inner rod into the outer rod, there's a little lip on the edge of it. If you stick your finger in at where we removed that collar, you can help align it to get this in here properly. Just like, so. We just want to grab the end and thread that onto our arm. There's going to be a groove on the end of our outer arm. We want that to line up with the edge here. Right there should be pretty good. Now, I want to re-install our collar in the reverse order we took it apart and you want to make sure to have that nylon washer on each side, if you do happen to lose or break it, you can find another nylon washer here at etrailer. Now, I just want to come back with those same tools and snug everything down. We do want to make sure to come back and torque this down the torque specs can be found on your instructions for your tow bar. You want to make sure to re-install your end cap, just keep all that dirt and debris out of our tow bar. And if you do damage your end cap in the process of taking it off, you can find another one of those here at etrailer as well. Then with our components re-installed, we want to make sure that our arm is going to release and go back into the outer arm. And in this case we're good. So we know we're ready to hit the road. And that's going to do it for our look at and our installation of the replacement inner arm for our Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar..

Perfect replacement part in stock. Very fair price

Received thee order as scheduled in a well package box. Had instruction with the product and was a easy install. Had to cut the old arm below the slight bend and was able to knock it out with a long drift pin. Had a little rust dust inside so I cleaned it out with a rag. Installed the arm and with slight persuasion it went in easily.

by:

I bent this rod while turning uphill into a flat surface and etrailer helped me to get back on the road quickly with the OEM replacement. Tracking numbers were provided and it was well packed with great instructions and reasonable shipping. Very satisfied with this product!

perfect fit and easy instructions

Great price, great instructions and video tutorial. Just what I needed to repair my RoadMaster Falcon All Terrain !!

When I searched on the Etrailer website for Roadmaster Falcon 2 parts, this is the bar that you provided. This is not the correct item for a Falcon 2. I am having to return this item at a cost of ~$30. I called your customer service (Stacey) and she authorized the return and agreed that the wrong item was provided. I should be credited the return UPS fee along with the cost of the above item. I have ordered the correct item through Stacey.

Great service

I just need to install it

After cutting out the bent arm this replacement slipped right in.

by:

Identical. probably OEM

by:

These were exact replacement inner arms for my 10 year old Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow bar. The replacement of both arms took about 1 hr. Very easy to do. Try to clean the insides of both arms the best you can before replacing the inner arms. This will help with a smooth, easy retraction of the inner arms. Supplied instructions very helpful. It was very easy to order these replacement arms through etrailer and the packaging for these arms was exceptional. Quick shipping.

Exactly what I needed to replace the bent arm on my Falcon All-Terrain. Happened on a recent vacation trip, ordered the replacement immediately and the new one was here at home waiting for me. Installation went smoothly with the Roadmaster instructions that were included with the new arm. I am very glad parts are still readily available, sure beats replacing the whole towbar!

No problem since the installation, completely satisfied

by:

I had to buy this product because what Roadmaster and etrailer don't tell you is - the safety cables shipped in kits supporting the Roadmaster Falcon 2 All Terrain tow bar may be too short for your application. If you have a hitch extension or drop hitch, the cables may be too short. You will bend the stainless steel bars and either need to replace them or buy a new tow bar. This is very expensive. Maybe they leave this out to increase sales, I hope not. Very disappointed this happened to me. An additional $245 plus labor to replace and the down time associated with not being able to enjoy our RV.

by:

It’s nice to deal with a company that believes going above and beyond, the order department people are top notch. Thanks for all your help now I’m not stuck in Anchorage AK. back to traveling.

by:

Due to my ignorance, I managed to bend the inner arms of our tow bar slightly. At first, I thought we were looking at a $700 repair to fix my mistake then I found the service parts for less than 1/3 the cost. For a bonus, the shipping was free. The parts arrived as promised and the instructions were self-explanatory. With the new towbars installed, they will get their first test this weekend, 1,300 miles back east. I will update this if we have any issues.

Only negative comment would be packaging seems excessive. If that is my biggest complaint, etrailer.com is doing well.

by:

Purchased replacement inner arms for our Roadmaster Falcon 2 All Terrain tow bar, from etrailer.com, after we were rear-ended, which bent the original inner arms. I found the arms on etrailer.com, along with instructions for installing them. They came exactly as ordered, when we needed them (a good discount on next day shipping!), and we were able to install them (not easily, but we got it done), and are back to towing with peace of mind! Great purchasing experience!

I ordered the parts for my roadmaster tow bar and received them 4 days later. I discovered another item I needed for my exhaust fan and received it the very next day. Excellent service. Perfect parts. Great people. Polite and professional. Thank you sincerely. Mark

by:

Ordering was quick and easy. They sent order confirmation and tracking info immediately and although there was a little "bump" with one of the parts we ordered, they let us know immediately and that was ok.
The customer service is unsurpassed, compared to other online order sites, that you have to get a hold of someone, not an easy feat, to find any information.
We will definitely be ordering again when we need too.

by:

I was really impressed with the service department. The Lady I talked to about my 'part' was extremely helpful, spoke perfect English, even phoned the original factory for assurance that I was getting the correct part, and phoned me back with good information. They treated me wonderfully well!

by:

Ordering was easy. Received items very timely. Parts delivered as ordered. Parts were identical match. Repair instructions easy and 100% accurate. Just what I needed to fix my tow bar. Excellent all around!

by:

For your Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 10K # RM-422 the fact that they are bound up obviously shows and issue. My recommendation for you is to completely remove the inner bar and replace it with the Replacement Inner Arm for Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain and Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # 910021-65 on each side. This may require a pipe wrench and some penetrating oil to remove the old bars, but since you are replacing them you...

  • Troubleshooting Inner Arm of Roadmaster Falcon Tow Bar that is Stuck
The first thing you should do is check the inner arm of the Falcon II # RM-520 you have with a straight-edge to determine if it is bent. If you determine that it is straight you will need to disassemble it and clean it. There is a nut on the forward end by the pivots, and a keeper assembly that installs with circlips at the lever. I would recommend you take pictures as you disassemble it so that you will know how it reinstalls. Next step is to clean it like you never want to clean it again....

The part # 910021-65 is the correct item for a replacement inner arm on your Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-422. I suggest also replacing the bushing # RM-200029-70 since this serves to prevent friction and binding between the inner and outer arms. Let's hold off on the lobotomy for right now. It sounds like the arms of your Falcon all-terrain # RM-522 are just worn out from dirt and rust and are in need of being replaced.
