Repair of Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 Tow Bar

Question:

Repair of Roadmaster tow bar, all terrain, Blackhawk 2, 10,000 lbs. I have the above, not used for 8 years. The inner stainless arms will not move without a lot of pounding and twisting. Still are not free’d up. We removed the arms from the shank, removed a latch, hoping this would help solve the problem. I have not purchased a vehicle to tow yet, will also need the wiring kit and base plates for it.

For your Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 10K # RM-422 the fact that they are bound up obviously shows and issue. My recommendation for you is to completely remove the inner bar and replace it with the Replacement Inner Arm for Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain and Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # 910021-65 on each side. This may require a pipe wrench and some penetrating oil to remove the old bars, but since you are replacing them you can do whatever is needed to remove them as long as the outer arm is still intact.

Then you can use the Repair Kit for Roadmaster Falcon and Blackhawk All Terrain Tow Bars # RM910003-85. I've attached the instructions to assist.

If you want to replace the entire arm assembly, you can use # RM-910021-97 for the passenger side and # RM-910021-95 for the driver's side.

For your base plates and wiring kit, the year/make/model of vehicle you will be towing is needed as baseplates and some wiring harnesses are customized fit. You will also need if you don't already have them safety chains, supplemental braking system, high-low adapter, and depending on the vehicle being towed some other components like relays or stop light switches may be required.
