Hi everyone, it's Evangeline. And today we'll be talking about Rhino-Rack lock cores and keys. These are gonna be for your Rhino-Rack crossbars and we'll take a look at how they work, here at etrailer.com. For your Rhino-Rack accessories, maybe you have a plastic lock core already on there and you wanna upgrade to a metal lock core. Or, maybe you have some metal lock cores but they're not keyed alike, and you want them to all just use one key. That's when you can use the separate lock cores here at etrailer to replace them all.
So here I have lock cores, the master key, and the original key for our Rhino-Rack accessory. So we have this metal core on our end cap. And we're gonna star with unlocking that core, using the original key. With that unlocked, you can use a little, flathead screwdriver to just push that wafer down. And then you can push the entire lock core out.
You can then get your new lock core, with the master key, and then put that up to your accessory, line it up with the ramp, and then start turning. If in doubt, just turn it around until it pushes through. You can now do that with all of your different accessories. Lock them and they're all keyed alike now. So what do you need for your specific situation If you are replacing locks, we have kits that have multiple lock cores, whether it's two or eight or however many you need.
And then you can get that whole pack keyed alike. If you are trying to match your keys, let's say you already have a roof rack and you want your bike rack to match, you can also try to get the numbers to match your original set. I always recommend just getting that full kit right away. That way everything is replaced at the same time. Also, make sure you have your original key.
You will not be able to take out the lock core unless it's in the unlocked position. Otherwise, it's gonna be a little trickier for you. So hopefully this video helped you out with seeing how to replace the lock cores on your Rhino-Rack accessories, and how to upgrade to new ones. The keys work which means 5 stars from me.
I lost my original keys for my roof rack so I ended up buying this product. Ideally I would have preferred to be able to just buy the keys but Rhino does not sell them without the barrels. Overall good experience with etrailer!

Got this set as a replacement key and I will use the extra barrels for the ends of the bars. If you are looking for a certain key just change the number in the URL to your key number.

Good product. The rubber inserts peel out though. I'm thinking of epoxying them in so they don't do that. Without the inserts the rails whistle.

- Replacement for Rhino-Rack 026 KeyI called Rhino-Rack and found that they no longer make the 026 key. They did say that the old lock barrel can be popped out using a flathead screwdriver, so you won't have to drill the lock out. If you still want to use the carrier you can replace the locks with the # RRRK001-2.

Rhino-Rack doesn't have just the keys available for replacement but they do have kits which include keys and lock cores. For example, the part # RRRK001-2 is for if your lock for has the numbers "001". Simply input "RRRK###-2" (which the # being your numbers) to get the replacement set with the correct keys.
